And that’s just one of the ways the average West Aussie is being put under pressure. Yesterday’s interest rate hike, combined with soaring grocery and petrol prices, while wages stay the same, is forcing a lot of people into financial hardship. And the phrase “the working poor” is creeping into every day life.
