President Donald Trump has ordered Isreal to stop bombing Gaza saying Hamas is 'ready for peace'.  The announcements came hours after the US president gave Hamas a Sunday deadline to accept the peace plan or face all hell. Hamas has submitted its response to Trump's peace plan, with the group agreeing to hand over administration of the enclave to Palestinian technocrats and free all Israeli captives. This comes as Human rights organisation, Save Our Sacred Lands is refuting claims by the Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Israel in South Africa, that the Gaza Sumud Flotilla vessels were not carrying aid. Speaking to my colleague, Bongiwe Zwane, Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Israel, Ariel Seidman, Deputy claimed the flotilla mission is just a stunt. Save Our Sacred Lands dismisses Trump Gaza order as 'lip service'

Twenty Home Affairs officials have been dismissed and sixteen others suspended. This following allegations of serious maladministration by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU). The investigation, which began in April 2024, focused on recurring schemes involving document fraud, visa and work permit manipulation and facilitation networks enabling unauthorized peoples entry into South Africa. This prompted the SIU to secure a Special Tribunal order to search five Refugee Reception Offices. With the assistance of the Hawks, investigators seized laptops, desktops, cell phones, external drives and suspicious files. Home Affairs minister, Dr Leon Schriber and SIU head, Leaonard Lekgetho briefed the media in Pretoria. Bongiwe Zwane spoke to Chairperson of Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs, Mosa Steve Chabane and the Spokesperson for tthe Public Servants Association, Reuben Maleka

This comes as foreign ministers of the Sudan core group at the UN Human Rights' Council say violence by the RSF in the city of al-Fashir bears the hallmarks of genocide.
