The families of the twenty one young people who died at Enyobeni tavern in June 2022 are calling on the Director of National Prosecutions to strengthen their case when criminal proceedings are instituted against those found responsible for the death of the Enyobeni tavern victims. The presiding magistrate in the inquest Magistrate Mkhululi Lomandili found that tavern owner Vuyokazi Ndevu, manager Siyakhangela Ndevu, SAPS Sergeant Thabisa Kondile, Eastern Cape liquor board senior inspector Zuko Lizani and former employee at the tavern Thembisa Diko are liable for the tragic loss of lives.
