Madlanga Commission Draws Close To A Year Since Inception

View descriptionShare

It's been almost a year since the Madlanga Commission was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa, following Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's controversial press briefing on 6 July 2025. During the briefing, Mkhwanazi made allegations of criminal infiltration within law enforcement agencies and political interference in these institutions. Since its establishment, the Commission has heard evidence from more than 100 witnesses and has made a number of recommendations and referrals for further investigation. Sibahle Motha takes a look at a year of evidence and allegations before the Madlanga Commission. We follow this up with our Sunday Discussion with Advocate Ilene Power, a labour law specialist turned purpose-driven ethics advocate and Professor Ntsikelelo Breakfast, Acting Director of the Centre for Security, Peace and Conflict Resolution at Nelson Mandela University
