Justice Department considers its options after Malawi court throws out SA's Bushiri extradition bid

The Justice and Constitutional Development Department is studying Friday's ruling by the High Court of Malawi which overturned an order directing that Shepherd and Mary Bushiri be extradited to South Africa to face trial. he Bushiris, who face multiple criminal charges including fraud and money laundering in South Africa, fled the country in 2020 while out on bail. The ruling sets aside the decision of the Chief Resident Magistrate's Court in Lilongwe, which in March had ordered the Bushiris' committal to await surrender to South Africa. So what happens next?
