The United Nations Secretary General has taken note of the Order handed down by the International Court of Justice indicating provisional measures in the case brought by South Africa against Israel. Antonio Guterres further recalled that decisions of the Court were binding and expressed trust that all parties would duly comply with the provisional measures imposed. This as Israel's staunchest ally the United States called the ICJ ruling consistent with their view that Israel had the right to defend itself while continuing to hold the position that the allegations of genocide were unfounded.
