The Democratic Alliance's Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has officially announced his bid to become the next federal leader of the DA. He launched his campaign in Elsie's River, pledging to renew and strengthen the party ahead of the April federal congress. Meanwhile, Gauteng DA leader Solly Msimanga has thrown his hat in the ring for the federal chairperson position. The DA opened its nomination process for its congress yesterday. Meanwhile, the chairperson of the party's Federal Council, Hellen Zille, announced this week that she will step down as chairperson of the Federal Council. The decision comes as the DA won a by-election in Johannesburg's Ward 102, clearing the way for its mayoral candidate, Zille, to join the metro's council. For more, Bongiwe Zwane spoke to Political Analyst, Professor Sethulego Matebesi
