She says women’s national teams should receive funding comparable to their male counterparts. Mabe is also urging corporate sponsors that fund men’s sport to invest equally in women’s sport. Mabe was speaking to Bongiwe Zwane during the Women’s Day commemoration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Mercia Maserumule, Co-Founder and Director of Nyamukara Empowerment NPC, says economic independence is crucial in helping women escape abusive relationships. President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address at today’s National Women’s Day commemoration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. The event marks 70 years since more than 20-thousand women marched against apartheid pass laws. This year’s theme, “Empowered Women, Empower Nations,” focuses on improving women’s access to quality healthcare. Women’s Month also highlights the challenges facing women and efforts to advance women’s empowerment and gender equality, while honouring leaders such as Lilian Ngoyi, whose struggles helped shape South Africa’s democratic progress.

Maseko:  Women seek power to shape the table.

Five people including a woman have been gunned down in a mass shooting in Langa on the Cape Flats.The attack occurred on Saturday night.Police spokesperson Andre Traut says officers responded to a complaint of a shooting at a house in Phase 3, Langa, where they found the victims.The victims sustained gunshot wounds and were declared diseased at the scene. The motive for the attack is currently unknown, and no arrests have been made at this stage.Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives are pursuing every available lead to identify those responsible.Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has condemned this brutal act of violence and has directed detectives to pursue all avenues to make sure the perpetrators are brought to book.Colonel Andrè Traut explains
