The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has called on Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Social Development to urgently investigate what it describes as a growing crisis of fathers being denied access to their children and the impact this has on children, families and society as a whole. ATM says South Africa is confronted with a silent crisis that receives far too little attention from policymakers and legislators and that parliament can no longer afford to remain silent while children are being denied meaningful relationships with their fathers. How Do We Tackle Parental Alienation?

KwaZulu-Natal's conservation authorities have raised concerns over rising elephant populations in key reserves, warning of an ecological crisis if urgent action is not taken. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has called for the relocation of hundreds of elephants. It says elephant populations have exceeded the parks' ecological carrying capacity, in various reserves across KZN, necessitating the removal of over a thousand elephants. But there are concerns that culling may become unavoidable. Elephant culling plan recieves backlash 

The families of the twenty one young people who died at Enyobeni tavern in June 2022 are calling on the Director of National Prosecutions to strengthen their case when criminal proceedings are instituted against those found responsible for the death of the Enyobeni tavern victims. The presiding magistrate in the inquest  Magistrate Mkhululi Lomandili found that tavern owner Vuyokazi Ndevu, manager Siyakhangela Ndevu, SAPS Sergeant Thabisa Kondile, Eastern Cape liquor board senior inspector Zuko Lizani and former employee at the tavern Thembisa Diko are liable for the tragic loss of lives. The families say, while this is justice being done for their children's lives, they are bracing for a long road ahead...Meanwhile, The National Liquor Traders says the findings of the inquiry in the Enyobeni tavern case mark an important step in the pursuit of accountability and maintains that the tragedy should never have happened.
