Chef Connie Shandu, South African chef, entrepreneur and founder of Dandozest, joins the show all the way from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Her black woman-owned catering and hospitality business, rooted in Freedom Park in Pretoria and Durban, is a celebration of bold flavours, authentic South African cuisine and the unstoppable spirit of women in the kitchen. Chef Connie is not just cooking food, she is telling a story, building a legacy and proving that South African women belong at the very top of the culinary world.

Rep Your Region  SA’s Best Women Chef’s - Petunia Thebe, Cosmodumplings   For the month of August, The Weekend Special will be featuring South Africa’s most exciting women chefs!  Today, we begin our women’s month chef journey with Petunia Thebe who turned a story of grief into a thriving local eatery in Cosmo City, Johannesburg.   Thebe started Cosmo Dumplings in 2017 after the death of her mum. Inspired by her mothers generosity, she started making dumplings for her colleagues who fell in love with her cooking, so she started cooking for more and more people - and the rest is history!   Guest: Chef Petunia Thebe, Cosmo Dumplings

The SABC was created by an Act of Parliament in 1936 and went on the air on August 1 in the same year. Throughout the years, the SABC has been the primary content provider for millions of South Africans. As the statutory body governed by the South African Constitution Act 108 of 1996 and the Broadcasting Act of 1999, the SABC is one of the key institutions aimed at assisting in the realisation of democracy through its programming.
