What happens if Democrats take control of Congress? Rep. Robert Garcia tells Steve Schmidt they’re already preparing. The ranking Democrat on House Oversight lays out four major investigative fronts: Trump family financial dealings, the Epstein files, corporate corruption, and allegations involving DHS and ICE. But the conversation goes much further. Rep. Garcia says Congress may need hundreds of investigators to follow the money, examine DOGE and pursue wrongdoing across the government. He confirms that Democrats are actively discussing how to use some of Congress’s most powerful and rarely invoked contempt authorities against people who defy its subpoenas.

This is a fascinating preview of what congressional oversight could look like under a Democratic majority — and a conversation about whether Congress is prepared to reclaim powers it has allowed to atrophy. Part of the Save America Movement's "Fighting Americans" series.
