We’re in conversation with our co-host, Leigh-Ann Mathys – the Treasurer General of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). She refers to herself as an accidental politician who came to politics through a passion for social activism. The EFF was the first political party she joined and this happened because of Marikana. Before that, she had come back to South Africa from Australia where her family had moved. She joined a community based organisation in Ingwavuma, a rural area in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
