The Centre for Social Development in Africa (CSDA), based at the University of Johannesburg, has released the findings of its latest research project entitled: Factors determining voter choice in South Africa’s 2024 national general elections. The research was conducted by Leila Patel, Yolanda Sadie and Jaclyn de Klerk. This is the fifth wave of research which assessed the factors likely to determine voter choice. Researchers used the same theoretical model developed in the four previous waves of research in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Some of the themes covered in the research range from Perception of governance, corruption, party loyalty, support for a party leader and receiving a social grant.
