Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer amongst women in South Africa affecting 1 in 27 women and 23% of all cancers diagnosed.

This October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Breast Imaging Society of South Africa (BISSA) is emphasising the importance of early detection through regular self-examinations, even as early as one's 20s, and annual mammograms starting from the age of 40.
