Just one day after being sworn in, the new South African Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Leon Schreiber has announced an extension of the temporary concession for foreign nationals awaiting the outcome of visa, waiver, and appeal applications.

This critical extension ensures that applicants, including those contributing to South Africa with their valuable skills, are protected from adverse consequences or being mistakenly declared undesirable during this waiting period.

The Department of Home Affairs has been experiencing delays in processing these applications due to a backlog, despite recent progress, the backlog persists across various visa and permit categories.
