The Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology emphasizes the importance of eating balanced meals, staying active, and monitoring blood sugar levels to prevent health complications. However, progress remains fragile, with countries like South Africa experiencing a rise in cases and deaths in 2023, despite decades of decline. Persistent funding shortfalls, fragile health systems, and environmental factors such as climate change exacerbate the challenge, underscoring the need for sustained investment and multi-sectoral partnerships to combat malaria effectively.
