Long hours get worn like a badge of honour in trades, but past a certain point when growing a business does not create better results. Working harder feels like progress, but it often signals the opposite: a business owner who hasn't built a team, hasn't delegated, and has quietly become the bottleneck holding everything back.

Run the real numbers on an hourly rate and the maths gets uncomfortable fast. Meanwhile the family gets whatever's left over, and good staff read the chaos correctly and walk.

There's a different scoreboard available, one built on presence, health, and actually owning the business instead of the other way around. Getting there starts with rethinking what the badge of honour should really be.

We mention Frank Virtu from episode 43 who was working 80+ hours a week that was eating away at him and his family. Today, he only works 30 hours a week and has transformed his family legacy and wealth. Listen to Frank’s story here:

In this episode you’ll learn:

🔨 Hard work gets you started, but it stops scaling a business.
🔨 The business owner's capacity becomes the ceiling on business growth itself.
🔨 Exhausted decision-making leads directly to costly quoting and hiring errors.
🔨 Family gets whatever energy and presence is left over each day.
🔨 Good employees leave disorganised businesses run on chaos and long hours.
🔨 Presence, health, and connection are the real markers of success.
