Mike McVay opens the show with the tale of his Corvair Spyder, which sets the tone of the show: things from the 60s.  Remember typewriters?  The kind that required you to have fingers strong enough to bend steel?  It's no wonder so many people opted to just stick with pen and paper for so long.  Or it could be because all the White Castle crumbs kept jamming up the keys.
