Target Corp.'s comparable sales jumped 5.6% last quarter, the biggest increase since the end of 2021 and triple the gain analysts were expecting. The company raised its annual revenue guidance by 2 percentage points to about 4%, but executives warned of tougher comparisons and more cost challenges ahead.

TJX Cos. raised its sales growth expectations for the year as cautious shoppers spend on lower priced goods at the company's discount chains.
