Focus: It is common knowledge that post investigation and evidence gathering process, the NPA has the responsibility of deciding whether the police have adequately investigated the case and presented enough evidence for the case to be heard to a court. Recent events have, however, exposed some loopholes in terms of how these two organisations function and execute their tasks – thanks to high profile cases that have unmasked these deficiencies. In light of recent developments that have tested the strength and fluidity of our criminal justice system, this morning we ask – How intact is the relationship between these two organisations; are the police doing their jobs properly and what about the NPA – what informs them to prosecute?
