As we are a few days away from the festive season either getting together with family or just deciding to hit the road, what should we remind ourselves of? For instance, do we check if the children are properly strapped? For those who drink, do you limit yourself or do you only drink when you reach your destination? For those using the bus, what do you ask the company about the condition of the driver and the bus itself? These are just some of the questions we thought to deal with as a way to remind ourselves about the dangers we face when going on holiday. To help us navigate the discussion, we are joined by….

Road safety ahead of the festive seasons: What to remind ourselves of before getting on the road?

So sad that we have to end the show by talking issues of gender based violence, but I guess that's the reality facing our country. Let's turn our focus on the gender based violence command centre which is said to have gone live again yesterday (Wednesday). It was launched in 2013 by the Department of Social Development to provide care and support to victims of GBV. We've invited the department to educate us on how exactly this system work and it's effectiveness seeing that another woman was killed this week by her partner who posted himself explaining why he did it. Gender Based Violence Command Centre now live

Since the two-pot retirement system took effect in September, the Government Employees Pension Fund has received almost 400 000 applications for savings pot withdrawals. The applications amounted to R10, 6 billion. Thus far (as of November 2024), the pension fund has paid out 361 000 claims.
