‘South African Council on Sport at 50’

During the apartheid years, there was an organisation called the South African Council on Sports. It was a sport wing of the liberation movement used to protest against racism in sports. They operated under the slogan ‘No Normal Sport in an Abnormal Society! They used this in their international campaign to boycott apartheid. This year, they would’ve marked 50 years and to mark this occasion, the Remember SACOS Committee and the Wits History Workshop are hosting a colloquium to reflect on the contribution of the organisation.
