The Road Accident Fund (RAF) says its overall audit outcome has improved compared to the prior year. This despite the Fund recording a deficit of 8.43-billion-rand in the 2022/23 financial compared to the over 400-million-rand surplus in the previous financial year. The Fund's CEO,Collins Letsoalo held a media briefing where he also outlined new measures that the fund will be applying like not paying out foreign nationals who suffer injuries from accidents on South African roads.

Our next guesthails from and began her musical journey at the tender age of 12 when she started taking classical lessons in the piano. This journey has taken her to stages in Europe and the United States of America not only as a performer but an educator as well. She has

been invited as an artist in residence at the University of Southern California’s Thornton

School of Music and is part of UCT Next Generation

Professoriate programme. Her research interests lie in the intersection where the art of music meets the world of business as well as the repositioning of South African Jazz in the academy.

 

In September 2024, she released her much-anticipated third studio album:Ndilapha. This is her first album recorded independently and recorded over a two year period. This album has been described as “the manifestation of presence through song” and explores themes of loss, rebirth, motherhood, and the essence of black womanhood. This morning, she joins us to share her upcoming concert in August and tells us more about her creative process in making Ndilapha, performing at festivals and balancing her academic commitments. Earlier this week, ActionSA filed a criminal complaint against medical aid schemes found to have shown racial bias against black healthcare practitioners in the peirod 2012 to 2019. The complaint was filed on the basis of the Section 59 investigation panel report released last week that concluded that the procedural fairness rights of some doctors were violated. The Section 59 panel was appointed to probe allegations that black healthcare professionals were being unfairly targeted for investigations and fraud audits by medical aid administrators. These claims raised alarm across the healthcare sector and among civil society organisations, which have long called for accountability and transparency in how medical schemes deal with providers.
