The Gauteng Provincial Government has been leading a multi-sectoral Integrated Service Delivery Operation in Emfuleni Local Municipality from 2 to 8 June 2025. Due to the urgent service delivery needs identified during this period, the operation was extended by an additional week. This initiative forms part of a broader provincial strategy to improve the visibility and quality of essential services and is being implemented in collaboration with local municipalities.

Importantly, this operation supports Operation Phakama Vaal – a flagship initiative of Emfuleni Local Municipality aimed at restoring dignity, accelerating service delivery, and creating a clean and liveable environment for residents. The operation also builds on the April 2025 signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Premier Panyaza Lesufi and all Gauteng mayors. The MoU facilitates cross-municipal cooperation to fast-track service delivery, enable infrastructure support, and strengthen intergovernmental collaboration across the province.
