Nelson Mandela legacy and the political elite crisis in South African leadership

As we continue our broadcast, we turn our attention to a Commemoration of another ANC stalwart: the 12th anniversary of former President Nelson Mandela's passing. Our next guest has penned an opinion piece on the legacy, the leadership failures, the crisis we are seeing amongst the political elite and the decline of the political party. He argues that many of South Africa's current issues stem from inadequate implementation of good policies and a strong constitution. He argues that this is a situation that contrasts with Mandela's focused approach to dismantling apartheid's legacy.

He analyzes how subsequent political leaders and party dynamics (specifically within the ANC) have weakened the party and moved away from the nation-building spirit Mandela championed.

Finally, he shares a call to action that more needs to be done to elevate the legacy of anti-apartheid heroes through tangible actions and accountability - rather than just rhetoric.
