Government departments in the Northern Cape owe Kimberley based Sol Plaatje Municipality over 700 million-Rand on rates and taxes. MAMAS Alliance – SHARE Conference

Over the weekend Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi said that the Gauteng government has decided to ban the sale of Terbufos, a pesticide which was found to have caused the recent deaths of six Soweto children. He goes on to say that only licensed businesses will be able to sell the pesticide also known as "halepherimi". Lesufi was speaking following a meeting with MECs, Mayors and MMCs on implementing By-Laws and regulations for spaza shop operations in the province. The meeting comes amidst the spike in food-borne illnesses which have since claimed the lives of 23 children in the province, with 441 cases reported. Lesufi says traders must abide by prescribed regulation. Let’s take a listen….

These guidelines focus on Standardized care, Respectful treatment, Informed consent and Better communication.

Maternity nurses are crucial in communities, providing vital care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal periods. Their expertise directly affects mothers' and babies' health. Good care during pregnancy and childbirth is vital for healthy outcomes. The guidelines emphasize better support before and after birth; and quick response to complications. The guidelines also take into consideration the training healthcare workers with empathy; addressing systemic challenges and resource allocation; and ensuring respectful care.
