Earlier this week, the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi sent a policy directive to ICASA regarding the 30% local ownership rule through equity equivalent programmes. This has sparked renewed debate on Starlink and drawn backlash from political parties ANC and EFF who see it as undermining transformation. On 27 May 2025, the ad hoc committee for Communications and Digital Technologies asked the Minister what his engagement was with ICASA on appropriate course of action prior to the policy directive. This past Monday, the Commission on Khoi-San Matters began its Community Structures Investigation in the Eastern Cape. They are starting with the Korana who are identified as one of the main groups in the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act. The Commission says that for the next three months, similar investigations will be conducted with the other groups like the Cape Khoi, Griqua, Nama and San. To try and understand why such a process in necessary and what they are hoping to achieve, also why they decided to start in the Eastern Cape with the Korana, we are joined by..
