Something different coming out of KwaZulu-Natal is that the province’s Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs has reportedly issued a circular instructing municipalities across the province to table the inclusion of amakhosi in the agenda for upcoming council meetings. Reports in the media quote Cogta MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi saying that the previous practice of council executive committees making decisions impacting areas under amakhosi without their input would no longer be allowed.
