Municipal Watch: Amagqunukwebe traditional community, no services

View descriptionShare

A few months ago, we received a message from the Amagqunukwebe traditional community in the Eastern Cape. They fall under the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality. They sent us very heart-breaking pictures of school children crossing rivers where there are no bridges. Non-existing roads where cars are stuck in mud with community member having to pull or push them out. They have pleaded with the municipality and the Eastern Cape Transport Department to assist them, but nothing has come their way. Government on the other side claims to have sent earth moving vehicles to assist in developing roads, but community says that they did not do much.

Guest: Nomfundo Mpuntsha - Community members who have raised concerns on service delivery issues and petitioned provincial government

Guest: Asa Bacela - Community member of the Amagqunukwebe traditional community

Guest: Cllr Nomhle Sango – Mayor of the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality
