Our next guest has one of the most influential voices on the continent when it comes to renewable energy and climate change interventions on the continent. She is set to host the inaugural African Women in Leadership Summit during Women’s Month, in partnership with knowledge partners - KPMG. The summit aims to drive meaningful change in the representation of women across the economy and to assess progress in gender diversity. Over a quarter of businesses on the African continent are led by women and represent the highest number of female entrepreneurs, globally. However, challenges still persist when it comes to representation, funding, and market access. She was recently part of a special edition of TedX Johannesburg reflecting on SDGs and finding common purpose in building a better world. This morning, she joined us to discuss just how far we are from combating energy poverty, the role women can play in energy and what interventions need to be made to reach SDG 7 surrounding access to clean and affordable energy.
