The autobiography speaks about the beginnings of her life in Steynsburg, in the Karroo, where she grew up in a conservative white Afrikaner family. Stephanie became resistant to Afrikaans and subsequently refused to speak it. She became politicized at a very young age and played a part in the liberation struggle...
