Earlier this month (8 July 2025), the Competition Commission announced that it had reached an agreement with Vodacom and Maziv on revised conditions that allow the parties to proceed with a merger that had been prohibited by the Competition Tribunal. Vodacom acquiring a stake in Maziv, a South African fibre infrastructure company, with the goal of creating a leading fibre provider. Initially, Vodacom planned to acquire a 30% stake, with an option to increase it to 40%.
