Culture of Blood Donation in South Africa

View descriptionShare

Blood is an important vehicle for food, oxygen and other compounds move from one part of the human body to the next. When a life-altering disease or an accident happens, blood is an essential part of the recovery process. According to the South African National Blood Services, less than 1% of citizens are active and regular blood donors. This is a cause of concern as this means there are shortages of blood in the public healthcare system.

Guest: Prof. Glenda Davison - medical scientist and Associate Professor at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
