Crime prevention imbizos, are they useful?

Rampant crime and gangsterism is high on the agenda at the police imbizo that's being held at Atlantis on the Cape West Coast. The Deputy Ministers of Police, Cassel Mathale and Polly Boshielo are attending the crime prevention gathering. Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the purpose of the community engagements is to find lasting solutions to communities affected by gun and gang violence. Potelwa says the event in Atlantis will be followed by a similar community engagement initiative in  Samora Machel in Phillipi on the Cape Flats today (Wed). Over the years we have seen police addressing communities in these imbizos, but do they help in dealing with crime? Do you as a resident come out feeling safer and see results?
