This morning, we continue our chapter nine series by focusing on an institution that is independent of political parties and the state. At the core of its work, the Public Protector investigates claims of abuse of power and improper handling of money for corrupt purposes. Anyone can write to, phone or visit the Public Protector’s offices around the country directly or on someone’s behalf. If wrongdoing is discovered, the Public Protector will issue a report which is binding, and often order remedial action to be taken.
