In FY 2018-19, the Union Budget proposed to improve school education in a holistic manner and launched the Samagra Shiksha programme in April 2018. In the recently announced union budget, the Government of India allocated Rs 38,751crore for Samagra Shiksha in FY 2020-21. The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan is an overarching programme for the school education sector extending from pre-school to class 12 and has been prepared with the broader goal of improving school effectiveness and better learning outcomes.
