But I want to talk to you about it like I usually do in terms of a principle of it, but I want to share something with you about it. And I was talking to my daughter about it. I've talked about my son in law about it, talking about it with all my children, and I'm really starting to express it to them now because I'm talking to a wide range of people constantly. But I want to share something with you. If you have any aspiration of being successful, I want you to realize, starting right now, the effort that is going to require. And that's why I think it stops a lot of people I think a lot of people are never told or don't understand the sheer effort that's that it takes to become successful at anything in any area of your life. If you think that doing your best is enough, that I got news for you. It's not. Well, Steve, what if you've done your best, though, and your best ain't good enough? Well, let me ask you that same question. Hold on. If you want to be successful and you've done your best and best isn't good enough? What you through? That's it? But Steve, it was my best? No, no, no, no. It was the best you had at that time, in that particular day. But tomorrow add something to it. You've you've never done everything. There is no you can't go no more, you can't add no more. I've seen marathon run us end up crawling across the line. I've seen triath line people man just staggering in the street and didn't want nobody to help them because they knew that would disqualify them from the race. You got more? Have you ever dipped into your reserve tank? That's what we're talking about now. See all of us have a reserve tank. You know, I you know, on my ranch, I like to ride four wheelers. I have all terrain vehicles and all of them have a gas tank on it and a gas tank and most of mine, let me see all of them. Yeah, all of them have gas tank needles on them, and it lets me know when I get down towards eat there's a little lane that's read that lets me know. Okay, Steve, you're in the danger zone. Now you're riding into the lowest part of your tank. But if I keep riding and I forget to get some gas in there, guess what when it runs out of gas. All of my all terrain vehicle, all of them, Honda, Polaris, all of them. Those are the makers. There's a button on the gas tank itself that I can click and it says reserve. That means they know that for the hardcore riders, they're gonna ride somewhere and they're gonna get themselves in a situation and they're gonna run out of everything. They're gonna run out of road, they're gonna run out of gas. They've prepared because they know for the hardcore rider, every hardcore rider needs a reserve tank. And so there's a button that you can click on the gas tank that clicks it into a reserve, and it will give you about fifty miles or twenty miles worth of gas in that Now, guess what in that reserve That may be all you need to get you to where you're going, or get you back to safety so you can refuel. Don't tell me you've done your best. When your best, don't cut it. What you're gonna do. See when best is possible, then good enough ain't enough. See that's good enough. But if the best is possible, why would you not shoot for that? And you are all capable of making it. But you've got to change your mindset and realize the effort that has to be put forth in becoming successful. You've got to do it relentlessly, over and over and over and over and every day. I try to do something to progress my life for the better. I try to do something every day. I wake up every day with the plan. Some phone calls, some meetings, some some some interviews. Something man that's going to advance and move the brand forward. Because here's what's gonna happen. You are Let's say you reach your goal. Let's say your goal is to make one hundred thousand dollars. Well, I got news for you. Listen to this. When you make the one hundred thousand dollars, you can't go nowhere and go on vacation and put your hand behind your head and say I made a hundred thousand dollars. Guess what you got to do? You got to find a way now to maintain that one hundred thousand, to keep it coming in. So you can't just get there and stop and rest and whoa. It is harder to maintain your success that it is to get successful. See, let's say, let me let me show you this. Supposed it takes you five to eight years to find a way to make fifty thousand dollars. Let's say it takes you five to eight years to find a way to make an extra fifty thousand dollars, and you finally, through work and effort, you get to the fifty thousand dollars. More. That's that's it's only just begun now, because guess what, in order to keep the fifty coming in, you got to duplicate what you did to get there. And then, oh, here's what you're going to have the audacity being a human being, You're gonna want another fifty because you're a human being, because you gotta have something else to shoot for. Now you're gonna want another fifty. Well, now that guess what you gotta do. Now, Now you gotta do what you did before, plus you gotta come up with something else. Then after that you're gonna have the audacity. Because you're humans, you're gonna want another fifty. Says how this works? And see that that's that that's the importance of your relationship with God, because you're gonna constantly need it and ain't other point where you're gonna be through needing it. But there ain't gonna become a point in your life where you're gonna through. Won't through, be through, won't nothing unless you just gave up. And if you don't gave up, who wants that? Come on, y'all, this is going to take quite a bit of effort, and if you think it will come to you any other way, you're sadly mistaken. Because of all the successful people I know, I know that the effort they put out on a daily basis is daunting, and I think that the average person just doesn't understand the requirement of time and effort that it takes to get that and willingness to put it out. You gotta cut a lot of monkey business out your life. All that hanging out, all that late and all that club and all that drinking, all it. You gotta cut a whole lot of monkey business out to be successful. Man, if you're planning on being successful, get up early, stay up late, work, try, think, meet, greet, smile, attract. It takes a lot, let's go, but you can do it. God is pressed to passing out blessings all day long. Why are you not in line for yours? I'm telling you right now, I want everything God got for me because what he's shown me so far. Who if he got some more? Man on man, how good is God hunts? Now, he's currently the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and most importantly, Biden's campaign has named him as the co chair of Joe Biden's presidential transition team. Let's get into it, please, Welcome back Congressman Cedric Richmond. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, sir. Thank you all for having me. Thank you for what you do, and the crew for putting it down for so long and being able to tell Joe to keep it serious all at the same time. That's special, you know, Congressman, this is all I feel like. It's such a pivotal year for us. And after Joe Biden came in fifth place in New Hampshire primary, I understand that you said, Biden an email and then the email and it said, if you really believe that you're fighting for the soul of this country, then got like it. Shortly after that, Joe Biden named you as one of his key advisors. What made you send the email? And then what was the connection between you and Joe Biden, Well we've been closed. He really helped us went back to the house in twenty eighteen, and when we lost in twenty sixteen, he didn't retreat. He really stayed on the battlefield. So I called him before the twenty eighteen mid terms. I said, look, man, we got to take back the House, and with your help, we can do it. And he participated in about forty race or thirty six of them. We won, And after that he thought I had a talent for it. But he didn't realize that I was pushing him to run for president. So a little while after that, I said, you have to run. First of all, my kids can't afford to lose. I said, even if my kids could, it started a position win with NBA players and other celebrities. Right now, our kids are gonna be all right. But it's the unnamed unknown kids and brothers and mothers and sisters that won't be okay. And I told him, I said you have to run. We need you to run. So when he ran, I told him I'd be with him. And then we finished low and iowalls. But it was the big fact that I was just not that diverse of a state. I was like, man, look, we're running for all the marvels. We all bet the house on it. Let's just throw caught him to the winning do what we do. And that was his sentiment, And he and I were spending a lot of time together, so I was only channeling him in the first place to just tell him, you've been scrappy Joe your whole life. Let's go out as scrappy Joe. Hey, now look, I believe our first debate is coming up soon. What's the plan here? I'm not asking for strategy, but what are you all wanting to accomplish when these two candidates finally meet face to face head to head, we'll see. That's a good question. And I'll tell you this one. I think that keeping the Vice president calm is key because the one thing he hates fully, you know, really that cowards that mask themselves as fully. And so you're talking about a guy in the White House that makes fun of disabled people, to make fun of veterans and calls them losers. And that is probably Vice President Biden's biggest pet. See, the people who pick on vulnerable people. So you just have to make sure that the Vice President knows that, you know, it's a bigger issue, and although this guy is a coward and a bullet, just stick to the facts and don't let him get under your skin. And then the other big part of it is making sure that we fact check him as he talks, because he's he's into lie number eighteen thousand, four hundred and fifty one probably today. So we just have to me right. So you just have to make sure when he said something. It's that old thing that right before you insult somebody, you say, with all due respect, though he's just gonna have to say, with all due respectments the president, you're lying again, because that's what he does. And that's the challenges of debate. But I think the biggest challenge, and I think this is important for the black community. People know who Donald Trump is, and we don't have to keep showing a telling our people who he is. We need to tell people who we are and what we stand for and what a country under Joe Biden would look like, a unified country with everybody sticking together to raise everybody's income and prosperity level. And so I think that's the biggest challenge because we have to tell people what we want to do and what we stand for, because I think our story is great as opposed to just telling people that the guy in the White House is sick. Everybody knows that by now here's a problem. We all know it. But the thing that's concerning me here and we're pushing really hard on this show for Joe Biden. I want you to understand that every day on this show, for ten minutes out of the show, we press vote dot Org, we press early vote. We are making them aware of voter suppression all over democratic districts. We are making them aware of this so we get to go and vote. We are pushing really hard. What concerns do you all have as a campaign about this election overall? Because Donald Trump's base is going to vote. They send stuff to my phone all the time. Make sure your early vote. We gonna get him in. Listen, man, I want to make sure that we, the ones that are behind Biden, are doing the same kind of fight because man, you write this, man he just lies repeatedly. But man, is there anything you would like to see us do that can help move the needle closer? Thank you for that. Let me just start with that this election will not be the first time that black people had to risk their lives to go vote. And they do it because they're not worried about their lives. They're worried about the next generations lives, that children and their grandchildren and make sure it's better. But what we have to do is for those black people that are older and worried about COVID, that we really educate them on how to fill out that early ballot. Some states require black ink instead of blue and look, we have a website, I will vote dot com that educate you on how to fill out that mail in ballot and we'll have videos up there soon with people showing them exactly how to do it. Because the Republicans, you know, they practice in these midterms. You now, they have thirty lawyers in a small black precinct and people are like, why are y'all here. They said, we're getting practiced because they're going to challenge all of the mail and ballots that we have to make sure every eye is dotted, tears crossed, the ink is right, and whether you need a lawyers to are somebody to notarize it, or you need to witnesses, we just need to make sure that we do it the right way so they don't throw out our ballot because we far too hard to let people take it from us. And that is the message. So look, but if you're asking me, and I'm gonna go out on a limit, if you're asking me if I'm worried about African Americans coming out to vote this November third, I absolutely am not. They know what their future looks like and they want a piece of this guys behind because he has been so disrespectful from the whole country, to talking about Mandela to talking about John Lewis. You got to crack him dead in the team. That's like you said, Cedric, that's another lie. That's not how it is, you know. It's it's like boxes say, Centric. Everybody gotta get him, gotta plan till you get hit in the mouth. You understand. Come on, boy, he got to hit Donald Trump dead in his mouth and then watch him go off the records and if Joe can stay cool, he gon he gonna this dude is not a debate real talking. See. Let me just thank you for making the whole debate team's job harder because you have now sold franton Joe to go in there and punch him in the mouth, and that is exactly what he wants to do, and we're trying to keep him from doing that. So I just want to say for making our job just a little bit harder. But the point is right, we got to show America who he is and that you know, all of these people. First of all, he just lies. So when he ran, remember he said, we're gonna keep winninguntil we get tired of winning. The farmers, we're gonna bring your jobs back. You got to talk about us and we and we got to stop thinking that somebody gonna single us out make us feel special, because the person that wins the president United States has to say us and we continually, because he's trying to appeal to a multiple group all people. So I got that, But for every black person is listening to the damn show right now with all this foolishness, what has he done for us? Let's start with putting the first African American woman on a presidential ticket in the history of this country. Now it's just you're absolutely right. But then he doubled down by saying, I'm gonna put the first black woman on the United States Supreme Court, which is an appointment for life. Then he said, look, I'm not gonna talk about criminal justice reform and policing reform is the only issue that's important for Black Americas. I'm going to make sure that we increase home ownership. We create a fund with thirty billion dollars from the federal government with five to one match from private industry. So you're talking about a hundred and fifty billion dollar fund for black entrepreneurs to create their businesses and pursue their dreams. Look, we have a great spacific message, not rate neutral, that we are going to empower the black community. Our school districts that are in four neighborhoods, and school districts are funded by property tax, so those school districts are usually eight times underfunded than wealthy school districts. We're gonna triple Title one funding directly to those schools to make sure that we even the funding gap, so that we even the achievement gaps. We're going to start school now at three instead of five, so that our black babies are learning school material at three. So look, we're not all about just writing those other wrongs. We want to make sure that we empowered the black community to achieve that wildest dreams. So that's why I'm there, and that's why I'm with him. And look, I would not put my street cred on the line if I did not one believe in the job that Joe Biden would do. Thank you so much, your powerful brother. Also, during the same interview with Bob Woodward, President Trump dismissed white privilege and accused Woodword of drinking the kool aid on racism. He's telling all of his voters now to vote, to mail in your ballots. That's the best way to get him counted. He's telling them that, and then at the same time he's discrediting the mail service. See. I don't know if you notice what he did, but all those mailboxes he removed was in predominantly democratic districts. The majority of polls that were closed to condense it down was in predominantly democratic districts. This man is trying to steal the election. He is doing all the most dishonorable things you've ever seen. Listen to me, black people. I'm talking directly to black people right now, because if you don't get out and vote, stop all this complaining about what ain't happening for us and what he's doing in all this here. If you don't vote, out, shut your damn mouth. If you don't get out and vote, just shut your damn mouth. If you don't vote, this is a chance that you have to change the direction of this country by getting out to vote. This is critical. The NBA players are begging you to vote. The NFL players are begging you to vote. The Black Lives Movement is begging you to vote. I am begging you to vote. My brother d L. Hugely is begging you to vote. My brother Ricky Smiley is begging you to vote. I've been on the phone with Charlemagne to God. Charlemagne is begging you to vote. All of us who control the airways have been on phones discussing, drumming this message into our viewers heads. We have got to vote, young people. If you have the attitude that you don't like either candidate, so you're not gonna vote for either one. If you don't vote, Donald Trump stays in office, that's just flat out of fact. If you do not vote, Donald Trump stays in office. The way Donald Trump won before, he did not win the popular vote. He won the electorial vote. But if we had turned out in large numbers, the eluctorial vote would have had to sway the other way. So in Florida, five over five hundred thousand black people didn't vote. That would have changed Florida. In Philly alone, two hundred and forty eight thousand black people didn't vote. That would have changed Philadelphia. In Michigan, just Detroit alone, three hundred some thousand black people didn't vote. That would have changed the election. I'm talking to black people. Ain't nobody playing with you no more. This is our life, this is our business, damn it. This is our country. It ain't vague country. It's our country, meaning all of ours. And you gotta start acting like it, man, And we got to vote. Congressman Lewis died fighting for our rights. All of these people gave up their life. Rosa Parks refused to sit in the back of the bus so we would have rights to ride in the front of the bus. Marty Luther King ain't here no more because he went to Memphis to support the sanitation workers who carried signs and said I am a man. In the year twenty twenty, we got basketball players with T shirts on it that say I am a man. Now we got new sheet T shirts that say I can't breathe. We could have been having T shirts out years ago. Stop hanging me, Stop lynching me, stop tying, feathering me, stop dragging me behind trucks, stop hunting me down like dogs, stop selling me, stop enslaving me, stop whipping me, flogging me, stop hunting me down, stop trading me. You got a chance to vote. Man, just been going on two damn long. And now when you have the right to vote. We have the audacity act like we're gonna sit it out. You don't have the right to sit it out, man. Just try to understand your history just a bit, y'all. We got to vote. Early voting has begun. Early voting has begun. You can get a ballot and send it in. But when you get this ballot, I want you to read it carefully because some ballots require you to have black ink, not blue ink. Some will only accept blue ink. Some will accept it if it's notarized. They got rules, man, They trying to suppress our vote, and they specialize in this, come up with new laws every year to keep us away from the polls because they know if they keep us away from the polls, they can control the narrative. And who is in power? Do you understand, as black people, you have an opportunity to decide who goals and who stays and who plays. If you are tired of direction of this country, if you are tired of watching us get gunned down by the police and nothing happened, is up a president that supports blue power. I am not against police at all, not at all. I need them. I call them all the time. But We got to get rid of the ones that's killing us man, and the only way to do it is get some right leadership that will help put laws into place. He is not the one. You have got to vote.
