But you know what's crazy in the efforts that I make. I can do more. My father used to tell me something when I was growing up. He says, son, when you've done your best and you've done all you can, sit still for a second and just do a little bit more. Always remember that, he said. When you've done the best you can and you can done all you can think of, he say, sit still, for a minute and do some more. And you know what I've discovered in my life, always have a little more. I ain't ever just out out completely. I can't take another step. There ain't another breath in me, There ain't there ain't another thought I can produce. I'm never completely out, man. Just take a rest for a minute, man, and then just do a little bit more. And that that. I can't tell you how many times that's helped me get over the top. You know, I was watching a documentary about people climbing a Mount Everest and how difficult climbing Mount Everest was and how they have on the hill, uh something called like a death zone or killing zone where the majority of people run out of oxygen and they have to turn back. Well, what's crazy is it's right in view of the summit. You can actually see the top of Mount Everest from there. But it's but it's that little bit that's left that's this most difficult. Now that I forgot all the reasons why they said most people don't make it from there, and more people have lost their lives in that area. I don't know what it is, but the people that make it to the top of Mount efforts. They all had to go through that same zone or that same area, but they had a little bit more that allowed them to get to the top. You know, a lot of people have had accidents up there trying that. So I'm not even really sure if Mount Everest analogy is a good one. But let's just break it down a little bit more. Let's just talk about life. There's a poem I learned back when the host pledge, and it's called don't Quit. The authors are unknown, but the poem was called don't Quit, and I had to memorize it. I memorize this poem when I was eighteen nineteen, but the poem stayed in my head. I'm gonna try to remember right now. I'm gonna say it for you. But there's a stanza in it that talks about how many a fellow has turned about when he might have won had he stuck it out. So don't give up. Though the pace seems slow, you may succeed with another blow. You know. That's a stanza that always sticks out in my mind. I'm gonna say I can memorize one whole of right. Okay, this is the point. There's the author is unknown, the name of the pointment is don't quit. It goes like this. If I make a mistake, I'm just trying to drump it up. So here we go, it says when things go wrong, as they sometimes will, when the road you're trudging seems all uphill, when your funds are low and your debts are high, when you want to smile, but you have to sigh when cares are pressing you down. A bit, rest if you must, but don't quit. For life is queer with his twist and turns, as every one of us must sometimes learn. And many a fellow has turned about when he might have won had he stuck it out. So don't give up. Though the pace seems slow, you may succeed with another blow. Often the gold is nearer than it seems to a faint and a faltering man. And often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor's cup, and he learns too late, when the night came down, how close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out. It's your silver tent of your clouds of doubt, and you never can tell how close you are it. Maybe kneel when it seems afar. So stick to the fight when your hardest HiT's when things seem worse that you mustn't quit. Okay, I remembered that cool. I remember it because like they had a special method of helping you remember stuff back then. But I remembered it at that point right there. Has kept me a lot of times. You know, if we often talk about scripture and everything, and then I don't. I don't see how I could live without it. But every now and then, man, somebody has a writing. God puts a writing on somebody's heart that delivers a message, man, that can help people. I use every motivational tool that I possibly can to climb this letter of success or try to be the best fall and the best husband I can be. I've done a lot of changing over the years, and so have you. But change is necessary in order to grow. If you don't make changes, folks, you can't grow. I was a young man on my set. I kept looking at him, and a sharp little young dude just on my set, and he had these dreads and I mean they were they were super long, man, they will well below the middle of his back. I mean it was just long. And he kept talking to me, and he kept talking to me and talking to me. Now, I know somebody gonna take this too wrong way, but this is my story. So you know, feel how you want to feel. Already know the emails is coming. You're talking about it. So your man kept talking to him, and I said, hey, man, you know you do your here a huge self of favor in the business you and if you got a haircut, you would do yourself a huge favor. I said, your images everything, man, I said, you keep stopping me in the hallway to try to tell me what you're doing, what you are, but all I see is your have I keep trying to figure out what you're doing with all that hair. Man, Now you can feel how you want to feel. But I'm like an employer. I employed people. So when I'm walking through the hallway and I try to think of you traveling me with me, and you're sitting in a meeting with me, I try to imagine you in your suit sitting there talking business with me. And so, just like other employers are, I'm just having a real story with you. So I said, man, you are to consider cutting your hair. He said, mad Mr Harve, I've been growing his hair sounds a little boy. I said, how holder you now? He said eight? I said, well, how long you want to hang on to what you was when you was a little boy? You know, if you started growing your hair when you're a teenager, and I mean you're twenty eight now, what we and? I said, so let me help you understand something. Let me let me ask you something. What does it do for you? He's, man, it's just who I am. It's it's I said, so you your hair? He said no, no, but it's a part of me. I say, that part of you that you're hanging on to. What does it do for you? I just like it? Well, dog, I like ice cream, but I feed that. But if I hang on ice cream and eat ice cream every single day, my body gonna reflect that, and the dude you see on TV gonna be a little bit fatter and a little bit fatter now already ain't ain't ain't to catch me out when it comes to look and that. So now you start busting out of these suits, I said, I got a problem. He said, man, So you don't hang on the nothing you did when you was young. I said, I probably do, man, but I've tried to share the majority of it. As I've gotten older, I don't. I can't think of anything I used to do with fifteen that I still even really care about right now. The other day I was walking through the hallway and uh, he said, Mr Harvey, and I turned around. He had a haircut. I didn't even know the cat. He He looked so different, he was so groomed, he looked so just vibrant. Man. He had this big smile on his face. He said, Mr Harvey, I wish I had done this a long time ago. And you know, I'm just saying that to say this, man, what is it that you hanging on to that you don't want to let go of? That's prohibiting you from being what all you can be? See, it's hard to be what all you can be if you want to keep being all you was? Don't that make sense to you? So I'm I can't tell you how many times I've had to change. Change is necessary to grow. You can't be all you can be if you want to keep hanging on to all you was. That don't make no sense. How do you go forward? If you keep going backwards? You can't stay here and go there? Do you understand that if you want to go over there, you must remove yourself from right here. Oh I got right Here is comfortable, I got right here is safe. But over there's where the shade is. Over There's where the fruit is. Over there is where the opportunity is. Over there is where the mountain of goal is. So why are you stuck on here? You got to leave here to go over there. You can't be all you can be if you want to stay stuck on who you was. Changes. Auntie Fee died early Friday at Harbor u c l A medical center. Her brother, June O'Dell said Saturday uh that Auntie Fee became an Internet sensation for her funny cussin and fried food recipes. Her attitude made her d i y cooking tutorials and absolute pleasure to watch, seeing as she was always unpredictable in the kitchen. Her son to have his Hunter wrote in a Facebook post, God made the decision to take my mother home where it's peace and joy, and I'm okay with that. Um thousands and thousands of condolences. Auntie Fee has died at age fifty nine. Her real name Felicia Dell. She was called Chef's sister girl by many of her fans, and she suffered a heart attack last Tuesday. Both of us are healthcare workers, and I have tried my best to make her see the need for regular showers. I make sure I take a shower twice a day, but she refuses to do the same. I have talked to her over and over about the need for good personal hygiene as a woman. Sometimes she goes to work without showering and comes back home and goes to bed without showering. I even told her that I enjoy sex better when she takes a shower, but she continues to ignore my heart's desires. I have also complained to her mother to no avail. I am tired of this. What can I do? Please help? I'm tired of this too. I mean, this is nasty, this, this is really disgusting. Who who doesn't bathe? What grown woman? What grown person? Grown man? Woman that you know doesn't bathe? It basically is a misty thriller that follows my character and my partner's character, as we try to investigate a murder of a black kid and a white kid, and it kind of shows how these two murders, one being black, one being white, and how they're they're treated differently by the community, by the press, and by the justice system. And along the way, it's you know, it's kind of a hoodune it and why done it? And it's you know, it's juicy. There's so many great performances. UM we have azeezing cast um Stefan James plays my my partner, Mac Wild plays police officer Helen Hunt. Richards rifis Yeah, yeah, we have. It's it's exciting and it's and it's really fun. You know, there's there's um there's moments where you're gonna be crying and it's gonna be chilling at how much of a reflection it is of what's going on in today's UM news. But at the same time it's really entertaining. So I'm excited for people to tune in. Yeah, now you play you play at an investigator? Yeah, I played. I played investigator with the Department of Justice. Her name is ash A Keno and I call her bad as Ash and I call it that. Yeah, she's a bad bad She's a badass. I thought her name was asked. I was con s people for real. Now I'm a badass, and call me that's my that's my hashtag, hashtag badass anyway, I know, right she um, yeah, she is amazing uh, an amazing investigator. She's been doing it for twenty years. She used to go undercover in the cartels in Mexico and Colombia and now she's she's doing this job and she's relentless in her pursuit of justice and she'll do whatever it takes, even if it's against the law. And so it's a real fun character to play. She's she's very layered. And yeah, it's cool. Let me ask you this because Sin is about shootings, and this particularly is about these two different shootings. Yeah, it's definitely covering some difficult subject matter and and hopefully it will probably spark spark some real conversation about the criminal justicism. What do you feel is the takeaway for viewers? You know, I try not to to um, kind of dictate what I want people to get, because everybody is going to get something different. But I definitely, you know, I hope that while we're entertaining people. I hope that it gets you know, at the at the the very most, I would love for it to raise consciousness. I would love for people to come together. The great thing about this series is that it gives a perspective from every seat at the table. You have ten hours, so it's like, you know, you get to see, you know, the mother who's grieving. You get to see the criminal justice system from their side. You get to see what happens when that cop who shot the kid goes home. So it's really great in terms of creating empathy and compassion. Um. While we were shooting UM, there were so many times. There was one one morning we came into work and Falando Castile had just gotten shot the night before and our our first a d who runs, who runs everything. It was a black woman and she could not she could not believe it because it was July and it was a record number of murders of black men and we've basically had. Just before we started our day, we did a prayer circle and really asked for grace and asked for um, you know, just guidance. So because he knew what a big responsibility this is and UM, it was killing how many murders were happening at the time that we were working on this, so um, we took our job seriously. And I just hope that people, you know, I hope people get together. I hope they argue. I hope they debate, But mostly I just hope there's conversations. We need to come together as people and and and it will be and it and it does take just that conversation. It sounds like a great project. Sna. Congratulations again, I think this would be amazing. So I don't blow up the spot because that's not a part of my service. I walk right past you, act like I don't you know, really know you. I don't talk to you. I don't, I don't. I don't bring the attention to your relationship. So now my brother was like, I bet you won't befriend her her boyfriend and try to get him the cheat on her so that way she could be yours. I said, I said, hmm, So, asking how much you want to bet, he put up a nice little wager so I couldn't pass it. So I go up to the bar where the where the lady is and her boyfriend, and I offered a better dinner for him, and he was like, uh, he said, why you do that. I said, I'm in town for a night. I just came up on a little uh, on a little luck at the casino um, looking to give some away. Stay. So he he's denied it, but I still left the money on the table. Anyway, so it comes back to me and she text me like she's on his way to you. You need to leave. So I stay at the bar. He comes over here's like, hey, hey, you know you know my girl. I say, man, I don't know your girl. He said, then why did you leave the money? I said, I told you, man, I came in town for the night. I came up on some luck done at the casino. My brothers and at the bar were all walking around and here it goes my time. There's a group of ladies sitting over by the by certain game section. I'm like, hey, but let's go over here and push up one of these girls. Your girls all the way across the the spot. She won't even see us. Let's let's Mackie has read you real quick. Next thing he knows, Yeah, he pushed up on it. He fell for it. Next thing, you know, we go back to the table. I was like, hey, man, you dude was over there. So when you get over there, we get full together. You know, she's talking about it being next thing. You know, one thing lead to another. I really dug her man. She's been on my show three or four times. Man. She was funny, she was real. She was a kind person. Though you know that that cussing and cooking was her act. She was really a kind person, you know. I know she was probably struggling, as all of us are with something and who don't have something, But and if he was a nice lady. Man. Condolences go out to her brother. I think I met her brother on the show. I'm shore, but I definitely know her son, her son Tatisanter. Yeah, man, I feel for him. That good dude. Man, when you lose your mother, Jesus, Jesus, hm, Jesus. That's that's that's a hard blow for anybody. Okay, how old you are, what you know, that's a tough blow. So condolences go out to them, the family and all her friends to She had friends out there, man, and many many fans fans, yeah, they said. Thousands of condolences have poured in from family, friends and fans. Um, you know, because they just loved her. She was an internet sensation. People love to watch her cook and she always says for the kids, looking for the kids and her son, um, he wrote in a Facebook post. God made the decision to take my mother home where it's peace and joy, and I'm okay with that, her son Tabith Hunter. Yeah. Yeah, wow, Yeah, that's a brave thing to say. It's it's that's that's a whole lot easier to say. Oh yeah, because you miss people, man, you really do. Grief. Grief is tough, man. Yeah, you know. And one of the pioneers of rock and roll we lost over the weekend, Chuck Berry as well. He was ninety, Yeah he was. Yeah. Yeah, that's a tough one too. I never met him. One of a few people you never legend, yes, yes, yes, yeah, because of him rock and roll. Yes, come on now, look at all the people who copied him, imitated him.
