It's it's been me finally making a decision to see what all God has from me, but at the same time trying to be more God wants me to be instead of more of what I want to be. That's the trade off. You know, you gotta do something now, you know you know you want God's blessings, You gotta be willing to do something on his behalf. Now I'm not saying I got it right right now, because I'm just being real with you, I don't I don't have it all together by any stretch of imagination. I'm trying to get better in several areas. I'm praying about it. I'm working on it. But you know, it's surprised and I've I've grown to accept the process. But I'm improving in a lot of areas from day to day. But I'll tell you what, man, my success all is going on with me I can only attribute to this turnaround. And the turnaround was simple. I turned around and started looking at God. That was a simple move, man. I just turned around and started looking at him, and I was going, Okay, I get it. Now, you created me. You're the creator. You have a purpose for me. I understand that. Now. Now let me just walk in that purpose and let me get to doing that purpose. Now, my purpose and your purpose and their purpose and anybody's perfect purpose could be different, and the way you go about the purpose can be different. And that's the part that I've really grown up to. I've opened up my mind to understanding that everybody's different, nobody's quite the same, and that is not my right or position to judge, but to be of a forgiving spirit and understand and forgive those as I ask God to forgive me. See that's the key. That's the key, y'all. So when you out here and you stuck on this unforgiveness, understand in the large prayer as a segment that says, forgive us our trust passes as we forgive those who trust pass against us. There's another version says forgive us our debts as we forgive our debt us. It's two different versions, but either one it means the exact same thing. It means simply this that you are asking God to forgive yours like you forgive others. Forgive us our trust passes as we forgive those who trust pass against us. When I crossed the line with you, God handle me the way I handle people when they cross the line with me. You feel what I'm saying to you? See you understand that. That's the breakdown of it. Best way I can give it to you. Forgive us our trust passes as we forgive those who trust pass against us. Forgive me God for stepping over the line, like I forgive those that step over the line on me. That's the hard part, man, that's the part. Man, I've really been working on I've been really trying to get that together, and so I've learned forgiveness a lot better over the past five years than I have before, and it's paid off. I can't tell you how I was paid off, because now God's mercy and grace is all over me, because I've learned to become more graceful. Now. I ain't graceful like him, I ain't merciful like him, but I've learned to become more more graceful, more merciful, because man, I can't live my life like that. I just got sick of me. Man, you're mad at me now, I'm mad at you. You hate on me, Now I'm gonna hate on you. I ain't got time for that, man, I've got you. Look here, you got somewhere to go. Hate take up time. It's time consuming. Hating Trying to seek revenge, it's time consuming, take up way too much of your time to seek revenge when vengeance ain't really yours. That's another one. Vengeance is mine, say if the lord it ain't yours. So now when you go to seek it to take it out, guess what you're doing. You're doing something now, man, Now you off in the area that you've got no business being in, and instead of steady climbing your leadder like you're supposed to, you didn't take out time for vengeance to hate. I'm a hater. I'm gonna be a blogger. I'm a blog about so and so. When you're blogging about somebody, and most of these people you don't even know when you're blogging about somebody, what you're doing, what you're hating. It takes time to hate. Man. I just decided, Man, I gotta take all my time and instead of have doing time and being active, I got to be proactive. See some people get that confused, being active and being proactive. Pro is positive. Pro means to move forward. You know, if you put pro in front of most words, it's a positive influence. You know, does the pros and the cons. The pros is the good side, the cons is what can go wrong the bad side. You know, if you're active, that's one thing, But if you're pro active, you're going forward in a positive direction. When you become a pro that means you the best of the best at whatever it is you chosen to be. I'm a pro. So somehow and I know English teacher grammatical God. The word pro a lot of times when you put it in front of something means positiveness. So now a lot of people think that if you as active, something all to happen. Well, I'm doing something, and that's what happens. Man, We just find ourselves doing a lot of busy work that really ain't bout nothing. It ain't going the way. It ain't got no direction or no purpose because we haven't tried to find out the direction or purpose. So you wake up and you and your wheels are spinning. You a hamster on a tread meal. You're running real fast, but you're just going in the same spot. You understand that's because you're just out here being active instead of proactive. Why don't you get God in your life. Why don't you turn and face your creative and find out how to become more proactive so you can do things to move yourself forward. How you can get your life off the ground and get off the tread meal and really get it rolling in the direction that it need to be going. Man, I'm telling you God can make that change for you if he see you making the change for him. See the whole key man, the whole kids. You got to be willing to do something. He's my best friend's brother and he tried to date me for many years and would write me letters, but I just wasn't interested well. Last year, I had surgery and I was out of commission for a while, and he sent me the sweetest letters and cards. When his mother found out about us, she told me he might be exonerated because of some new evidence in the case. I started having mixed feelings about him coming home. His mom told me that I should really give him a chance at romance if he is released. I've fallen in love with him, and it's hard for me to believe it and explain. I can't tell my family or my co workers about him. I tell them that my man has a demanding job and he travels a lot, so that is why they haven't met him. They have noticed that I am happier now and smiling whenever I mentioned this guy to them, and I am honest with him about my feelings toward his incarceration, and he gets very upset when I told him. I am ashamed to tell the people that I am closest to me about that are closest to me about him. I am an accountant and I have worked hard to secure a top position in my company, and I don't want to be judged. And there's also the possibility that he won't be released, so I would have told everyone for nothing. So what do you think, Stephen Shirley. Should I just put it out there that I'm dating a man in prison and hopes that my family will accept him as the man I love? Or should I end it with him? Please advise? Well, first of all, these are two extremes. Should you tell your family or should you end it with him? Can we meet somewhere in the middle. First of all, I wouldn't tell anyone anything. Why First, you don't owe them any explanation just yet. You don't even have all the facts. His mom said there because of some new evidence in the case, he might be exonerated. So that's not even a possibility yet, it's just a mite at this point. There's a possibility, you say later in the letter that he won't be released. So you didn't even say what he's been in for seventeen years for. You didn't share that with us, So you know, that's kind of hard for us to really make, you know, a sound decision. What is he in there for? What is this new evidence? There are a lot of things that are left out of this letter. You've been dating him, or you've been talking to him, not dating him. You've been talking to him for just a little over a year. He's been in there for seventeen years. So there's a lot that needs to transpire before you know, you start taking this relationship too seriously and to the next level. Wait to see what's going to happen. Calm it on down again. You know, you put in here for a reason. That you have a very demanding job, that he has a demanding job. But more than that, you have an important job, and you've worked hard to secure a top position at your company. You don't want to be judged. You have to take all this into consideration. Okay, and again the possibility that he won't be released. So I say, just hold off and see what's going to happen with this situation. You know, will he be exonerated and you and he gets upset when you tell him things, so you know it's still too early to tell. I just say, wait, all right, That's what I say. Then you say he's tried to date you for many years, that's why he'd been in there, or he's sixteen two. I don't know, but he'd started just had to start at sixteen for you. But you say, then you flip you having mixed rope feelings. Then you say you didn't fell in love with him, And it's hard for me to believe it or explain it. Now. I've seen a lot of inmate shows. There's a lot of women that will marry inmates. That's y'all's business if that's what you want to do with your life. And you can't explain it, Yeah, I don't. Because he's treating you better than anybody else, probably the reason why. And I can't tell my family or my co workers about him, because you know why, because you didn't already. This is what you have said. My man a demanding job. You better believe he do. He got tougher his job. He got to sit there and can't leave his job. He ain't got no rights on his job and to pay on his job. It's about is way way below the poverty low. So yeah, he got a demand and ask job. Then you say that he travels a lot. Now, he ain't going nowhere. They don't travel in prison. He might be able to go down the hallway. He can go on another till Mike can work to his job, but he ain't traveling nowhere. So that's you telling them. That's why they ain't met him yet. They have noticed that I'm happy and now I'm smiling whenever I mentioned this guy to them. You're in love with him. I'm honest with him about my feelings towards his incarceration, though, and he got mad when I told him that I'm shamed to tell the people that are closest to me about him. Oh, oh, you don't wanna tell nobody about me? Dog, No, she can't because she didn't lie. How she gonna tell them about you? And she didn't said you had a demanding job. So you didn't build this relationship up wrong. You should have just said from the beginning what you felt. But since you didn't built up this lie, now you can't tell nobody the rest of it because you just said he got a demanding job and he traveled a lot. That's why y'all ain't meet him yet. That ain't the truth that caught. They can't meet him because they ain't everybody got time to drive all the way up there, Steve, huh. And I don't even know if you're driving up there. He could be out of state somewhere. Ain'tybody got time for this antybody fitting meet him? Now? I ain't got the real nothing here. I got to bring this lady in now. So I just put it out there that I'm dating a man in prison. I don't think you should. I don't give a damn about him being mad. That he can support you with him letters in cards, but you gotta wait till you get sick again. He can't send you none of this money because he needs money on his books. You've been doing that, let's admit it. Now. Should you put it out there as you're dating a man in prison? No, because you gonna sound crazy because you have already told him that he has a demanding job and he travels a lot, and that's why y'all ain't met him. Oftentimes, like we're talking about now, Steve Black, reporters on the red carpet are placed at the end usually and sometimes they don't get those big celebrity interviews because right before they get to them, they race them off. It's time for you now to take us home with your closing remarks. What you got for us today, Steve, Well, this is going to be shortened to the point. I think I just want to remind everybody something that your dreams can come true if you're willing to fight for him. You have to fight for your dreams. You have to fight for the life of your dreams. You have to fight to be free. You have to fight to be an entrepreneur. You have to fight to be successful. You have to fight. Then, they says, when you say I'm gonna leave my job, you have to fight the nay says when you say I want a better job, you have to fight some forces out there. When you go, you know what, I'm gonna leave here to pursue a better position at another company, You're gonna have to fight for it. Change requires a fight. It just does. It just does. I don't know why it is, man, but there's people always in our lives somewhere who are going to fight us on decisions that we make about ourselves. I don't know why it is, but it seems to happen for everybody. All of us have to fight to get through to the other side. You have to fight through the wall of fear. You have to fight through doubt. You have to fight through confusion. You got to fight through the nay says. You got to fight through haters. You gotta fight through the fact that it didn't go your way. You have to fight through the fact that you got up and you just wasn't feeling yourself today. You gotta find a way to fight through. You gotta find something in you that makes you keep fighting even when you don't. There's a poem that stands at a poem that says, if you can force your heart, your nerve, and your s new to serve its turn long after it has gone, when there is nothing left within you except the will to say to them, hold on, you have to fight like that. Not the funny thing about that line and that poem, I think that's uh if if and I stand the Stanza says, if you can force your heart, your nerve, and sanu, sanu is the fibers that holds all your insides together. They call that sanu, those tenders or whatever it is. That that's stuff that there's lines and chords and fibers that hold your heart and organs and all that stuff in place. If you can force your heart, nerve and sanu to serve your turn long after it has gone, when there's nothing left within you, accept the will to say to them hold on. That's how you got to fight. That's how you got to fight. And it's all right, but make it a good fight. Don't lay down, don't let nobody punk you out your dreams, don't let nobody trick you out of what God has for you. Don't let the fact that you got to fight stop you from fighting. Life is a fight, man, It's a dog fight out here. They're not walking money up to your house. I'm sorry, they're not passing out you. They don't send free money to nobody's house. Got to do something to get it. And if you really want to get it, you are involved in a fight. Like it or not, that is what we are in. We are in a fight, So get with it. Stop punking out. It ain't time for that. You're in a fight. We are in a fight. Let's go. That's what it is every day. And if you think it's not, keep sitting up in here lighting letting life slap you upside your head, because that's exactly what it's gonna do. You're in a fight, folks. You're in a fight for your dreams. You are in a fight for the life God has for you. You are in a fight for your future. You are in a fight for your promotion. You're in a fight for advancement. You're in a fight to do life better. You are in a fight to have more. You are in a fight to succeed. You are in a fight to overcome. You are in a fight to beat illness. You are in a fight every day of your life. What you think this is you got to fight and make it a good fight. Here's the tip to fight him. If you have God in your life, you will not lose the fight. Period. That's all I got to tell you. If you have God in your life, you will not lose the fight if you include him in the process.
