Y'all know what time. If y'all don't know, y'all bay at all suit long looking back to back down, giving them mong just like theming buck bus things and it's tub y'all to ful good to study guy listening to toach other for sto bar handy. Don't you join yeah, well hobby joining in belling me honey, say you got to turn Yeah, you gotta turn the turn turn you lovey got to turn out to turn the water the water. Come come on your back, Uh huh, I shall well come onrding everybody you're listening to the voice, come on dig me now, one and only. Steve Harvey got a radio show? Man. I love it when I run up into people and they say that to me. They say, hey, Steve Harvey got a radio show. Then they wink at me. I know they're listening. You know, I got a lot off my chest yesterday. I wanted to clear some things up. And I appreciate y'all giving me a minute, because sometimes you know, you just gotta say some things out loud. Not complaining, but hey, just verbalizing, but realizing that I gotta keep going anyway. And that's for my words this morning to you that I want you to keep pushing no matter what happens. I want to share something with you that's important, that's very very important. See, you have to give God something to bless you know, if your prayer is asking for God's blessings, you gotta give him something to work with. Now, you know, you you you gotta show the spirit of appreciation or gratitude. You gotta let him know that you're in it for the long haul. No matter what happens. Don't turn around, don't go back. You will never ever see what the end could be if you turn around and go back, You'll never know what the end could have been had you stuck it out. You'll never know how good it could have gotten had you not just weathered the storm. That's the thing that gets most people. They get tough for him, It get hard for him, and then they let doubts set in, and then those doubts become facts and the next thing you know, they give up. Ever cross your mind, had you not given up, or had you given your best, what the results of outcome could have been. I look back on my life on so many occasions where in college I wasn't giving my best. I flunked out. Now it's easy to look at my life nine go yeah, but look at you now. But back then, man, it cost me for so many years that failing to finish, that not giving my all, it cost me a number of years. I wish I could say that it didn't mean nothing, that it was just a blimp on the radar scre screen. But at the time it was major. And so you have a lot of decisions in your life that are happening now. You may be in your twenties, your late teens, you could be in your early thirties, and it's happening. But guess what you'll eventually get through it provided one thing, you never give up. You never turn around and go back. Had I written myself off because of one failure? See, and this is where so many people go but go wrong at two. You write yourself off after you failed at something, the one thing you thought you wanted to accomplish, and you failed at it. Now you write yourself as as a failure. Now you go settle on, end to life and just see what See what hand you get had when I flunked out of college, had I written myself off as a failure? I wouldn't be here today. When I lost my carpet cleaning company, I would have written myself as a failure and I wouldn't be here today. When I didn't become a diamond distributed in am Way or a direct distributed in am Way, even I would have written myself as a as a failure and I wouldn't be here today. When I bought a distribution kit to become a distributor of of the Bohemian Diet and I didn't make it, I would have ridden myself as a failure. When I became an Hero Williams distributor and I didn't make it, I would have written myself as a failure and I wouldn't be here today. Oh, I gotta list for you. When I got laid off in for a motor company and I ridden myself as a failure, I wouldn't have made it. Do do you need some more? Because I have a story, feel with mishaps. I have a story filled with failures. A couple of things now, the grace of God and his mercy which is available to us all. See that's the key, y'all. Because of his mercy, because of his willing this to forgive and to even understand why we do the things we do. In all of my shortcomings, failed marriages I'm talking about, man got it all wrong. I can't blame nobody else, It's just me. Steve ain't have it together at that point in life. I could have ridden myself as a failure the first time. I could have. I just could have gave up on it after the second one. And and the police know that this is an admission. This ain't bragging. So before you start in with me, understand what I'm saying. I'm pointing out in my life a series of missteps and failures. But how I still get here today a couple of things. God's grace and mercy is first. But that's the key, that's for every body see if it's God's willingness to forgive you and God's understanding of why we do what we do because He said we wasn't gonna be perfect. So in all of your imperfections, your creator told you you would not be perfect. He's said it to you. It's out there. I don't care which one of the books you read, it tells you that. So guess what. With that in mind, he has a grace that he has. It's like a grace period. It's like when you don't pay your insurance premium on the day that is due. The next day, they don't just cancel your insurance premium. They have a grace period because they ain't trying to stop this money from coming in. But when it comes to God, there's no money required. He just gives you the grace freely. It don't cost you nothing. So you got tap into that, y'all. You gotta get in touch with that, because that's an important part to making it. Understanding that his grace is available. So when you make a mistake, So when you fail at it, he has a loophole in the contract with him that allows you to make mistakes, that allows you to get it wrong, that allows you to fail time and time and time again. But if you never give up, if you keep getting up, if you keep trying, if you keep striving, if you keep making the effort to go forward and not go back, God has a blessing for you, and He has it in abundance for you, and God will give it to you at the right time. But you got to be ready. Oh, I wanted to be successful. But if he had given it to me back then, I wouldn't have handled it correctly because I would have made some more mistakes along the way. So you make the mistakes to learn the lessons. And what I learned was every fail you that I had was not a really a failure, It was a valuable gained learned experience. And when you get experienced, man, you gain knowledge, knowledge and wisdom. Next thing you know, you ready for the next time. And then after a while, when you failed enough times at it and you've gotten it wrong and you've made the adjustments as to the person you are, because everybody different, then guess what. Here he comes. Okay, I see you get it. Now, let me go and get you to see how you do that. Then if you show appreciation for it, didn't he said, all right, I'm gonna add this to your pie. Let me see how you act with it. Okay, you sure appreciation, help some people with it. Then he dump a little bit more on you. Then next thing you know, it's it's in buckets, fools. You you're just raining on you, you're just dropping it in that. You just log main. God been good to me. I ain't gonna lie to you. You're listening to ladies and gentlemen. Right after this you're listening to all right, Today is the seventeenth anniversary of nine eleven. Wow, we were at work. We were at Yeah, we were all at work in l a uh yeah, before the show went national all of that. Steve, I know you remember that day. Well, um Well. In New York, ongoing focus remains on the new One World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan. The single skyscraper replaces the iconic twin towers that were destroyed on December. On September eleven, two th one, we will never forget the lives lost and the heroes, the first responders. Ms Anne will have more in our news report in just a few minutes, it is time for today's entertainment news. Uh, it's never good news when you see George Zimmerman's name in the trending topics. Okay, I think we mentioned him earlier in the show. Steve, the man who killed Trayvon Martin, is back in the news for sending a series of threatening text and voicemail messages to a private investigator hired to find people to feature in the Jay z h docuseries Rest in Power the Trayvon Martin story. When Zimmerman was asked to participate via a voicemail, he responded by calling the p I his name is Dennis Warren back fifty five times. He called this man back fifty five times, leaving thirty six voicemails, sixty seven text messages, and twenty seven emails over a course of just nine days. Uh. The communications included threats to Jay Z and Beyonce, telling Mr Warren to tell jay Z he's a b and his wife is a broke horror. Um, Yeah, yeah, it was horrible. It was Yeah. Can I just ask a question, what do you got to do to go to jail? Because they love black people love for anything anything. Yeah, exactly exactly. I'll tell you what though. Now you run over there with Mr Carter if you want to m this is not it's just not just that's not a safe song, Partner. Get some people over there on that side of the camp and gonna let you do that to him. Yeah, he was not him, But there's some people standing in that area that's not gonna do. You're not gonna big. Yeah. Zimmerman went on to say, Steve, if I see either of them in my life, they'll find themselves inside a thirteen ft gator. What I mean, he can say this and walk around free. Don't say that hearing it. He don't even know when you start messing with Beyonce. He don't even understand what to be hid due damn law enforcements. You gotta hold up problems that damn be High man. I rather have them than the police protect you, because they don't care what the law. He is. Yeah. A matter of fact, I'm thinking about taking out Stock. Isn't the be High most It's the most valuable fan base I've ever seen. As a matter of fact, I want I want to be High to adopt me. I'm asking to be high for your help with the national enquired with radar online. I want to be high to help me. Where is the dog? I'm saying. Look, this is a direct message. Let me talk. Let me talk to my social media right here. I'm asking to be high to please adopt me. If you could just treat me as Tampa good, as you treate create, as you treat Beyonce, I'll be more than happy and go get all them hate this that's coming after me. I won't to be high to adopt a sixty one year old black man. I need leadership, goddess and a family African be man. That's what I want, all right, Steeve that it's time to get caught up on mrs and true. Thanks everybody. This is entered for the news. We are now at the peak of the hurricane season, and forecasts say there are storms approaching from the Atlantic and the Pacific. States of emergency and evacuations declared a Virginia north to north and South Carolina. White House spokesperson Sarah Hugby Sanders says the President wants Americans to heat official warnings. He's tropical storms and hurricanes are very dangerous, and we encourage anyone in the past to heed the warnings of state and local officials who have the expertise and knowledge of their communities to provide the best on ground information. Looks like the worst will be along the Southeastern coast. They're bracing for Hurricane Florence, which is going to perhaps one of the strongest storms to ever hit the mid Atlantic coast. Today is September eleventh. This is a trip. It's that time of year when we sadly reflect on an horrendous attack. People's feelings now years later mixed very safe. I'm a tied law enforcement and I think he is doing the excellent jobs protecting passenger, to make sure that luve it is good. Unfortunately, I don't feel any face where. I still think that it's a hostile climate and anything can happen at any time, and we can't defend ourself at every moment, can't forget what happened. So, because that's nottain still celebrate this consistent cloud of uncertainty that we are now placed under. No, I don't feel safe mym the loss of cousin. They only found the shoulder blade. I definitely think they should continue to celebrate, but definitely, you can't. When that day happened, they wasn't expecting to either, So you can't say, window how the political thing that's going on now and makes me good. And we can never erase your pay or bring back those you lost. We can honor their sacrifice by pledging our resolve to do whatever we must to keep our people. I don't feel safer because all the safety funders that President Obama put in place is being rolled back with the current president. I feel like that he's causing so much division, not only in our own country, but amongst the international community too. I definitely feel the safe, but um, no matter how much security you get stopping people from coming in, there's people already here. They're probably angry and could do something at any given time. I think the president is causing a lot of problems, and you know that's just you know, everybody knows that because of the president's in place right now, a lot of the work that hasn't done a thing undone. I just feel like it's important for us uh as you need as as people to put off trust in our faith in God, because, like I said, some people out of all control. They're going so much. We can do, But we need to do what we can do while we're here. As far as safety, I don't think we can depend on America. I feel safe anymore. I feel like, Um, we gotta look to each other and as well with a higher power with you God. We need we need to pay how much those people who are their lives? This is okay, Steve Harvey Nation Attorney Benjamin Crump, our special guest tell us about the Dallas police officers shooting. That's what he's gonna do coming up on the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You're listening Stry Show. Hey, y'all joining us now As promised, We've got a man who has become just a fighter for justice for the downtrodden and oppressed, always speaking up for people who don't have quite as big a voice. He is the president of the Black Lawyers Association. Here's our trusted source for insight on the tragic deaths that have been occurring within our community and today, what's sad to say that he's back with us to talk about another senseless death in Dallas, Texas. Botham Sham John Please, welcome to the show. Our fred attorney Benjamin Crump. Wow, welcome, and all for having me. Uh, Steve again, we need your platform because this situation is just shocking on every level. They've been killing black people in America for driving while black while we're in our cars, for walking while black while we're in our neighborhoods, and now in this case, living while black when he was in his own apartment, not breaking the law, minding his own business. Police come through the front door, shoot him twice in the chest and kill him, and then they take three days to arrest the officer. Okay, so Attorney Krump tell ex exactly what the account of the incident is. They're claiming what happened. Well, unfortunately we don't have both of them account because he's no longer with this. But the police officer, this Amber Geiger, Her account is she went to the wrong apartment allegedly, and we have a lot of witness testimony, new information coming out from neighbors that seemed to fly in the face of what she's trying to allege. But she says she went to the wrong apartment, the key wouldn't work, and she thought it was her apartment. Somehow the door came open. We still don't know the answers to that because she has her FEARP Amendment rights as a police officer. They won't tell us what she's saying, but what we do know is based on her account, she believed her apartment, uh, some intruder was in the apartment, and so she shot and killed them. Now, these are the police officers who are trained, Steve to uh decelerate uh situation, not escalated. She's supposed to de escalate the situation. But that's not what we had happened here. And think about this young man who's an amazing him man. I know we thought that world around a lot. He was a college educated, uh young man. He was an accountant worker for Price Waterhouse Cooper accounting firm. I mean, he was a singer in the church. He loved to talk about, you know, how people can pull themselves up by the bootstraps. His mother was the secretary of the parliament back in their island nation of St. Lucian, And he was doing everything right. But today he is dead, I believe because that police officer feared his black skin. Hey, Attorney Crump, hang on one second, we'll be right back with more with more about this case side of Dallas. We'll be right back. You're listening. Hey, we're back. We'll continue our conversation with attorney Benjamin Crump. Let me just comment about what you just said. This is a trained officer, a police person with trade, a woman who shot him. Okay, now let's take a regular person. I come home, I live in an apartment. I go to a door in my apartment complex that I'm thinking is mine, but it's not. Maybe I try to key, it don't work, nothing, I don't know what, but somehow the door comes open. If he opened it, if her key opened it, her key couldn't have opened it because it wasn't right place. So this man had to open the door for her. Now, when he opens the door for her, whether it's her apartment or not. But the stone cold fact is he was in his apartment. What did he do when he opened that door that deserves his death to make her shoot him? And Steve, I thought you were also going to say, if you would have done that, you would have killed them. You would have been arrested that night. If I go to someone's door and they opened their door and I shoot them in their house, I know good in hell, Well, I'm going to jail. It's not. It ain't no need to me. What what am I fitness? Say when they come Hey, man, hold off, I thought that was my place? You thought? What? Sir? And Steve? Just two quick things. Imagine the legal precedents this would have said had she not been arrested. The fact that anybody can now say, based on precedents in Dallas, Texas, I went to the wrong door and I thought it was an intrudis. I shot and killed them. The police officer in Dallas didn't get arrested, So why are you arresting me? We can't have that type of precedents in America. It has the equal justice for everybody, and they can't have it both ways. She's claiming she was off duty, but yet they're still giving her uh special treatment because she's a police officer. She killed him with her service revolver. There's a question whether or not she identified herself. There are neighbors who have accounts who totally contradict what she is saying, and so it's gonna be interesting to see if both of them. John gets the same process of the law. Well well okay, okay, well okay, well the school, it's cool. Let's take that fact that's open show. But the parting is you did kill a man right for doing what? I know? Hey, Ben, in this case right here, did they have some sort of relationship the officer and Mr Botham John. The officer has said they had no such relationship. Um, but they're still trying to figure that out because based on some of the things, and we're not at liberty to say that the neighbors have said really doesn't make sense, uh, with the things they heard occur before the shooting, and you know this is an apartment complex. People can hear things in apartment complex, especially at night when you know it's a quiet hour. And with Steve with suggestions, Shirley was very much like many sensible Americans because this is not only shocking for the John family, this is astonishing to sensible people when they hear this fact that he's in his own apartment. Why isn't she arrested? And why are the rules always different when it's a dead person of color lying on the ground. It makes no sense, It makes none. And I'll tell you what's really interesting him ain't heard none from the FA say show you're not gonna learning from trust Benjamin Crump, Thank you so much for your efforts and your work. It is the Strawberry Letter, A subject a step mom that made need to step away. Dear Stephen Shirley, My husband and I have been married for eleven years. My husband has three grown children from his previous marriage, two sons and a daughter. His sons are happily married, but his daughter is not. My husband's ex wife constantly intrudes in our marriage and in her daughter's marriage. The daughter will not keep her mom out of her business and it upsets her husband. The ex wife has also made my husband's life miserable, but I can deal with that. It's my stepdaughter that is the problem. I am not welcome at any of the grandchildren's birthday parties or family get togethers because of her. I have tried for many years to have a relationship with my stepdaughter, but she's not interested. I run around and buy things for her children and help her father get gifts for her children, and she will only thank my husband. She has never told me thank you. She refers to our home as her dad's house. It hurts my feelings that she does not respect my marriage to her dad. My husband always defends his daughter's actions and how he treats me. He tries to make it better by making up lives about how his daughter says to tell me hi when they talk. Steve, how can I get my husband to realize that his actions are just as bad as his daughter's attitude. I'm not worried about the ex wife, but I have to spend time with his daughter, So I need to fix this situation. My family life is falling apart, and I am the only one who seems to notice. Uh what should I do? What should you do? You ask? Well, first of all, I think you're doing way too much. I think you should stop doing everything. Okay. Stop going to places with them. They don't want you there anyway, So stop going, Stop buying stuff uh for them, Stop trying to make them like you. Stop you know, wanting to thank you from the daughter and going and helping you know, buy stuff and and get gifts and all of that. And please stop letting this woman disrespect you like this. Okay, Uh, you deserve much better. You know, it's not about them, it's about you. And your husband really needs to grow up here. Um, he needs to speak up for you on your behalf. You're his wife. You should come first. Okay, he shouldn't let anyone. I don't care who it is. I don't care if it's this crazy daughter that he has his meddling ex wife, anyone, Uh come before you and treat you this way. My husband always defends his daughter's actions and how he treats me. Why is he defending her? Why isn't he defending you? His wife, that's who, and you need to let him know, uh, what is going on here? I'm your wife. He knows that, but you haven't spoken up for yourself. You need to let your husband know how it's going to be from this day forward. He needs to You all need to be a unit, present that unit to the family and deal with it that way. Okay, maybe the daughter will back down once she sees that the husband respects you and sticks up for you, But you gotta stick up for yourself to your husband first. Steve, Well, this is a complete mess. Blended families are always difficult. I've had my share of difficulties with it myself, especially when you're dealing with these grown kids because they have their own ideas of what they think should be had. I listened to our grown kids. Marjorie, I probably wouldn't have got married because they weren't bowling and decided, uh, since we're just in him in them, that they don't think we should get married. I call him a bunch of stupid blankety blanks and walked out the room, simply because how y'all ignorant? Asked gonna tell me something? Ain't none of y'all got a husband, a wife, or a child. Now you're gonna tell me how to behave So I can understand that it's gotten way better since then, but that's still friction every now and then. Your problem is that the daughter has sided with the mother who is his ex wife. She's totally taking her side. Not that's something wrong with his ex wife, because if it wasn't, it wouldn't be his ex wife, it would be his current wife. My husband's ex wife constantly intrudes in our marriage and then her daughter's marriage. Well I thought you said his sons are happily married, but his daughter is not. Oh that means she's married but not happ Okay, Well, see, first of all, his ex wife doesn't know how to have a successful marriage, so any information that she's intruding on with her daughter's marriage. Ain't gonna be helpful to his daughter her daughter because she don't know how to have a healthy marriage, and spreading dissension is her way. So now the daughter can't stand you. Now what your daughters is is. You are not welcome at any of the grandchildren's birthday parties or family get togethers because of her. I tried for many years and have relationship with my stepdaughter, but she's not interested. I run around and buy things for her children and help her father get gifts for her children. She would only thank her husband. She would only think my husband the lady. She's never told me thank you. She refers to our home as her dad's house. It hurts my feeling that she does not respect my marriage to her dad, and you have every right to be her. So what do you do? At one point, it takes two to tank if the other person it takes two people to take. It takes two people to have a relationship. Relationship is two people. She don't want the relationship. I agree with Shirley. Stop stop buying stuff for the grandkids and all this. Stop shopping for your husband now. If you can't get respected, she don't talk to you, she don't thank you. Then see, let him go buy stuff for the grandkids. Now, he caught between the rock and a hard place, and we're gonna get to that after the break. But he caught between the rock and complay because I know what he tried to He tries to make it better by making up lies about the hys daughter says to tell me hi when they talk. She already knows that's you know, good, Well, let's said hi to me's she ain't ever said hi to me, and I've been right here. But when the hell she started sending a message? So you already noticed crazy. But oh dude, he don't want you hurting the guy. I ain't bad. He don't want you to hurt. But at one point time a decision has got to be made. His loyalty is to you, period. But he's suffering from guilt though. You gotta understand his daughter is making him feel guilty over the mom's condition mental stability. Oh this man, and so you gotta you gotta understand that. But I'll tell you what I think you should do when we come all right, Steve, so um, when we come back, we'll have part two of your response to a step mom that may need to step away twenty three after the hour. We'll get into it right after this. You're listening to show. All right, Steve, We're back with part two of today's Strawberry Letter. A step mom that may need to step away is the subject. Let's recap, shall we. Well? You know this woman is married his husband. They've been married for eleven years. He got three grown children from his previous marriage, two sons and a daughter. His sons are happily married, but his daughter is not. My husband's ex wife constantly intrudes in our marriage and then her daughter's marriage. The daughter will not keep her mom out of her business, and it upsets her husband. The ex wife also made my husband's life miserable. Oh I know what that is right there, that ex wife trying to make your husband miss Oh Lord, been there. M I tightened up right there. I got tight because Lord, I know what that is. Your ex wife make your life miserable. Why won't she go sit her tail down some damn well, get your ass off the internet. Quit selling stories to the inquir Okay, to stop about me all the damn time. This is not about you. I have to you know, remind you of that, Steve, I think now it's a good place. Well, but when he said the ex wife has also made my husbands like miserable, that was directed. You don't see Steve in that sentence. I know I do. Two different people. Has nothing to do with you. Be objective, Steve. First of all, I don't know what that means. We'll take yourself out of it. Take yourself out of it, take yourself out of it. I wasn't in it until she said ex wife has also made my husband's life miserable. Now if that don't sound like she talked to me, and I see, when God gives you a guilt, you got to look at the gift for what it is and appreciate. So now here's what you got to do. Step away. You should step away. Ain't no need to trying to be kind and keep getting rebuffed. You don't have to just have a person keep spitting on you in your face, stay out their face. That's all you got to do. Remove yourself from all this shopping and buying and trying to go to get togethers and stuff. You know, I don't understand they having family events and and then someone calling you right now. I hear your baby, I'm popular. Somebody calling me when I wish that? Yeah, here you talking about I got so many blocks and stuff. You don't even want to stand up. Okay, back to the letter, because you will get the stop of X. Don't ask me how I know. I just know Shirley's right. I would remove myself from the situation. I'm not worried about the ex wife, but I have to spend time with his daughter, so I need to fix this situation. But his daughter don't want to fix the situation. Have you ever just said, hey, listen, I love your father. Your father loves me. I have nothing to do with your father's break up. I'm tired of being blamed for it. I've been nothing but kind to you and these grandchildren I want us to have huh. She says that I have tried for many years to have a relationship with my stepdaughter. Well, I just told him what to say. Okay, Well, just quit trying to have it. You just live your life by ye and don't bring him damn kids over here. Now, let's Christmas shop. You ain't about him damn kids. That's right. I'm a sting, so say that one more time. Don't come over here, no more, and don't bring them damn kids. You talk about the kids to feel bad. No, okay, no they're innocent. Don't bring over I'll tell you what. If you want the kids to come over here from now, send them over here by your hus You don't bring your ass over here. But she's miserable in her marriage. She's in an unhappy marriage, so misery loves company. Right. Well, that's why I say send him over here by the husband, because he probably needs a break. I'm pretty sure he loved to come over here to be killed, wash the game with us and everything. He loved to come over there by himself, just to get away from your ain't love. If I just stopped by and sit down, I ain't got the driveway, I just come over. I just swing by, Christie Kree, the light was on. Don't know that. Don't really make her mad if she, you know, develops the relationship with the husband and they become good friends. Yeah, so it's really no way to help people like that. It's no terrible how loan this ex white thing can last. Trust me another day. I'm shot over here. If you want, I forgot what I was going to ask you now, he keep going, yeah, I think answer this question was don't you think the husband should say something? Don't you think the husband wants he's trying to say something what he needs to get them off his wife. You don't think that can do any You know what, He's got a delicate line because he don't want it's his daughter. He doesn't want to lose the relationship with his daughter. He doesn't want the daughter to think he's picking the wife over her, and he don't want the wife to think that he's picking the daughter over her. He's caught between the rock and hard place. This is really tough position to be, especially when coming to the women and boys. Boys get on with a lot quicker yeah, yeah, alright, Well listen, guys, we do have to go email us or Instagram. That's your thoughts on today's Strawberry letter, which was not about Steve. Uh no, it wasn't. Jay. Coming up at the top of the hour, people keep talking to me about blank. We'll explain right after this. You're listening to the Stow So Steve, we got an email from a listener. It says, my friend as a chef, people always talk to him about cooking. Even if he wants to talk about something besides food, the conversation inevitably goes back to him being a great chef. The email goes on to say, I have a friend working for candidate running for office, and every conversation in which she protects inevitably turns into politics. So, Steve, what does every conversation in your life turn into? I mean, people talk about uh, what TV? Money, what funny money? And advice success And it's not that now. It's not that they asked for money. They want to discuss, you know, ideas for it, how to make more. I don't really mind that, you know. I mean, it's like when you meet a chef, you're gonna have questions because everybody loves inside information. A guy in politics, you want to get his opinion. You meet a probe football player, you want to get him make sure about playing ball. Other teams high soon. So, man, have you ever faced and Rogers? That's just comming? So you know, man, you know people, man, how was it? Man? You know? I mean, you know it's like people see Marjorie all the time. They're going, I bet he's just a hoop to live with. Nobody eats food from a total strange. You can't do. It's not even smart. Oh. That reminds me of that meme where this person was washing chiplands in their tub, in their bathtub at home. Yes, that's why you can't take food from strangers. You don't know what their habits are. Top chilings, Yeah, I don't know how y'all ain't. Yeah it don't kind of ChIL in your sink? That's ridiculous. That's a nast We're back at that nasty house again. When you finished watching put some bleak just washing, didn't that, I didn't watch the chien just a little bit of hot water. When last time you had some chiplings? Man, oh man, it's been years now. Don't get me wrong. I used to eat them. But man, did you try to want in Paris? No? I never Oh yeah to that rest. Yeah they were, they were on the menu. Jay. We came back and told Steve about yeah, yeah, chitterlings. Yeah, yeah, I think I'd go with parents chilings before I go with bath. No, I don't want to go anyway, eat no chilling with a frasing. Wee weet that right, Yeah, yeah, that's what you're saying. You got some good chillen, you got the chilling. So that's what Steve. What do you want us to do to stuff people be giving us to give you what you want to keep it? Man? You know I don't need another blanker with my family on it. I don't need another blank I please, I'm not going to do with curl up on it a lot of it. You get paintings where you look like Harriet Tubman I'm like, yeah, that's nice, just like it and the good intentions do. But yeah, I down man, that's Steve coming out more of this crazy ignorance. Steve Harvey Morning Show. Right after this, you're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. So Steve, how's it going first week back on the new show and everything? Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's getting good reviews and numbers were up over last year. We accomplished something that every show was down from last year. Television is changing right before eyes except our show was up, so that was a good sign. It doesn't mean any shows are endangering anything. It's just it's different. It's changing. It's just changing. The landscape of television is changing. The numbers that used to be attainable aren't there anymore. Too many channels. People watch TV on their devices now, everybody records and watches later. So television's totally changed the way they go about the business. So we'll just see what a lot of great responses, really good response about it. I wasn't really concerned about it, you know. Um, it's a change I wanted to make, so you know, I mean, plus my girls she likes I'm not really Um that really it's like really been helpful to me because I just edge it up on Tuesday mornings before I shoot, and then I do a re clipping edge on Thursday, and then Friday said this Sunday Monday, I just leave it alone. I ain't got the food with it, and you know, less makeup I got to wear. So I mean, you know what's y'all think, especially man, it pops with them and it shows more personal that it's really personal. Yeah and lap back singing, clap back, yeah, clap back. I just added, because you know what, I know, we're taught at celebrities not to comment on social media. Just leaving alone, keeping moving, don't give it life. But sometimes man, you just get tired of people just fine off on and like on a serious note, like it's really really sad what the inquiry can do or ead our online. They don't care that you have a family, they don't care you trying to make your marriage work. They don't care to how it affects your children. They just print lies. And they just printed, man, I mean, a story with no truth to it at all and just print it just doesn't make any sense. So I decided I was just gonna clap back on someone. You know what, you just you're fine at me. I can't say nothing the time on this radio show. I just got tired and I got a segment called speed claps back because I get tied. You fine off on me. Well, I told you about the layout. Was walking in there saying it so well. She said, I don't like to bid it makes you look old. I said, let's review a couple. I was born in nineteen fifty seven. I graduated in nineteen seventy four. I've been alive eleven years, longer than a half a century. I've got seven kids and five grandkids. Hell, I mean so, but and and oh is the is the goal the alternative, right, So I'm embracing it, handling it well, you know, I don't look bad for sixty best look a sixty one year old in the world. Let's some cats out there and straight up shape. But I get that, you know, I'm thinking about I'm really thinking about becoming the new doll. Soaky man, the most exciting man in the world. Interesting, interesting in the world. I like him. I like to do. They got oh yeah, all right, well we'll be back. They hiring people with beards, so here. We'll be back with more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show right after this. You're listening the Steve Harvey Show. All right. Today is the seventeenth anniversary of nine eleven. Wow, we were at work. We were at Yeah, we were all at work in l A. Uh yeah, before the show went national all of that, Steve, I know you remember that day. Well. Well. In New York, ongoing focus remains on the new one World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan. The single skyscraper replaces the iconic twin towers that were destroyed on September eleven, two th one. We will never forget the lives lost and the heroes, the first responders. Uh, it's never good news when you see George Zimmerman's name in the trending topics. Okay, I think we mentioned him earlier in the show. Steve, the man who killed Trayvon Martin is back in the news for sending a series of threatening text and voicemail messages to a private investigator hired to find people to feature in the Jay Z docuseries Rest in Power the Trayvon Martin story. When Zimmerman was asked to participate via a voicemail, he responded by calling the p I his name is Dennis Warren back fifty five times. He called this man back fifty five times, leaving thirty six voicemails, sixty seven text messages, and twenty seven emails over a course of just nine days. Uh. The communications included threats to Jay Z and Beyonce, telling Mr Warren to tell Jay Z he's a b and his wife is a broke. Um. Yeah, yeah, it was horrible, It was Yeah. Can I just ask a question, what do he got to do to go to jail? Because they love black people love for anything, anything, exactly exactly. I'll tell you what though. Now you run over there with Mr Carter if you want to, Yeah, get some people over there on that side of the camp and gonna let you do that to him. Some people standing in that area that's not gonna You're not gonna be Yeah. Zimmerman went on to say, Steve, if I see either of them in my life, they'll find themselves inside a thirteen ft gator. What he can say this and walk around free? You don't he don't even know when you start messing with Beyonce. He don't even understand what to bee Hive due damn law enforcement. You gotta hold enough problems that damn right, man, I'd rather have them than the police protects you because they don't care what the law he is. Yeah, matter of fact, I'm thinking about taking out stock in the bed most. It's the most valuable fan base I've ever seen. As a matter of fact, I want to be hive to adopt me. I'm asking to be high for your help with the national enquired a radar online. I want to be high to help me. Where is don't I'm saying, Look, this is a direct message. Let me talk. Let me talk to my social media right here. I'm asking to be high to please adopt me. If you could just treat me as temp as good as you treate create as you treat Beyonce, I'll be more than happy and go get all them hate this that's coming after me. I wont to be high to adopt a sixty one year old black man. I need leadership, goddess and a family, A freaking be Steve Man, That's what I want, all right. Steve is up next with today's closing remarks. We will hear those at forty nine after the hour. Right after this you're listening to Steven Show. All right, Steve, here we go, last break of the day. Um, some parting words for us with your closing remarks please all right? UM, I guess um, without thinking about this much, I want to talk to you about life, how fragile it is, and I want to have something to say about mm hmmm. You know what, I'm really not gonna get into the whole situation, because, like I just be honest with you, there are times, there are actually times when I'm actually sick and tired of talking about it. I am exhausted with the fact that the color of my skin has to come into play in my everyday life, my just day to day. I don't know. I really can't think of any days really pistically why I do not have to consider the color of my skin, the shape of my nose and my lips wherever I go. The situation I'm in, I very rarely I can think of a day that I'm not made aware of it or I have to factor it in. If you're not a person of color or minority, you may not even be able to understand what I'm saying. But I'll just give you an example. When riding in the car and being stopped by the police as me and my buddy Greg Calhoun was doing last year after golf out in coming from Montgomery to Alabama and his car and we were speeding and we were supposed to get pulled over. We were speeding. But what I had to do was immediately become aware that I am a black man. Skip your money in your fame. I don't have time to throw that out at you. I got to get and start preparing myself. As the officer approaches the car, I must understand without him getting my I D I'm a black man, just a black man. So I put my hands up on the dashboard and the officer came to the passengers side and said, why is your hands on the dashboard? I said, because I don't want nothing to happen to me. The officer said, while that's acting mighty suspicious. I said, no, it's not. I'm just being safe, officer. If you don't mind, she said, well, I'll need to see I D. I said, my I D happens to be in a pouch in the back seat. I would have to reach. She said, we'll go ahead, and I was tense because I didn't I didn't want to be mistaken. When I'm on an elevator and I get on, I am conscious of the fact that me and my guy are the only ones on the elevator. When I go to golf courses and I oftentimes see that there are hardy any African Americans out here, It's just me and one maybe the force something that I'm playing with, and and and I'm just always aware of it. If you're not that, you don't have to be aware of it. But it's the awareness that becomes draining at times. It's the fact that you've got to be the only one on your floor, the only one on the elevator, the only one in the cubicle, the only one in your department, the only one at the meeting, the only one in the cafeteria, the only one on the on the trip, the only one, the only one at the hotel, at the front desk, the only one, the only one, the only one's kids that's in the recital, the only one's kids that's at the that's on the soccer team, the only one, the only one, the only one, the only one. Gets to be exhausting at times. This will not change. And two more people who are not of color, can try to empathize or sympathize or generalize or something with us to say, you know what, I don't know how that feels, but I bet that ain't right, because, as I've often said many times, slavery didn't end just because black people got sick of being slaves. We were sick of it the thought of it. When they put us on them boats. Nobody wanted to ride the boat over here and come be no slaves. Nobody was under the belly of them slave ships, going, man, this is nice. It's gonna be a new opportunity. Nobody. So I want to wake up and just see what it feels like to just go about my day without having to calculate my race, without to have to calculate the color of my skin, to watch other people get paid a certain amount of money and then you don't get paid a certain amount of money with the same type of ratings, and then you got you got to incorporate something else again. Now, I've been very blessed with the life that I have, and I would not trade mind for anything. With all this sick and tired of being sick and tired. Also what makes this also tolerable. For me, it is my love of who I am, my love of our power to overcome, our power to maintain in the struggle, our power to still be something where we were brought here to simply be nothing, So for us to have accomplished what we've accomplished. I'm grateful and awful proud of that. So I guess my pride just keeps me going on. I hope that guy will continue to let whatever light that I can let shine through my existence to inspire someone else to overcome when it looked like you ain't gonna make it. Because that's exactly what I've done, by the grace of God. I have overcome against all the odds, even when they said I wasn't gonna make it. And even though I'm tired of being tired, I wouldn't trade places and be nothing else, know how, because in this struggle has taught me so many For all Steve Every contests, no purchase necessary, void where prohibited participants must be legal US residents at least eighteen years old unless otherwise stated.
