So who am I to disappoint you. I gotta make sure that I'm available to you, that you know I'm somebody you can reach out and talk to, talk at, holler at, get at me, whatever the case may be. I'm here for you. I'm here for it. So this edition, were gonna start off with tweets. I'll get to the phone calls and the videos a little bit later, but were gonna start right off, get right into it with some of the tweets that I picked out that y'all wanted to throw at me. So let's get this party started right now. Please, let's go with this at the Fox named Petty right, Steven A. Smith? What is the next project that you're working on that the masses will be able to hear about? Wow, it's interesting that you bring that up. Certain things I can't tell you, know, because, as the world knows, I'm in contract negotiations and all of that stuff, and I can't reveal everything you know. But what I can tell you is something that I'm doing on the side. First things first, I had a production company. It was called Mister Sas Productions. Where you know something, I changed the name of it. The name of my production company right now. The name of my media company right now is Straight Shooter. The title of my best selling book for the New York Times New York Times best selling book. That title, Straight Shooter, is the name of my media company now. My production company, my podcast company is what I'm doing. So I want you to know that that's number one, number two under its umbrella. I've created a drama series. It's been picked up. Can't tell you about who. I gotta wait till that announcement comes out. But it's been picked up and it's a drama series, okay, it's a drama, not a drama dye, a drama series. I can't tell you who, and I can't tell you with who who's been picked up by and who I'm partnering with on the project. But I'm the creator, it's my creation, and I got some big time partners that's working with me on it. And I'll be able to announce that in a few weeks as well. So stay tuned. It's coming and it'll be a doozy. I promise you that, I promise you that. Let's go to the next week right now, please at just post sah right, Steven H. Smith, if you had twenty four hours to live, what would your final meals be and what would be the final fun thing slash place you would do slash visit? Alright, let's leave this up. First of all, me personally lasagna lasagna with my mama, my mama biscuits by Abigail, cause Abigail makes these delicious biscuits. I'd want my lasagna is well ground beef, not turkey, all right, Okay, so I'd want that, all right. But I also like my my big turkey wings. But I don't like them too wet and soggy. I like them juicy, but somewhat dry, a little crunchy at the same time. Only my mama and my sister calm and could make it perfectly, you know, But I like that the combination. That was some stuffing, you know, some stuff in some candy yems, you know. Obviously I like my broccoli or my strength beeves too, That's what I like. But it's gotta be the lasagna with my Mama Biscuits by Abigail. That's what it's got to be, my sister, Abigail. So it's got to be that, right, that would be my meal. What would I and what would be the final fun thing or place I would do a visit? Well, the final fun thing that I would do, honestly speaking, I'd go on a trip to Africa with my daughters. I take them to see the motherland. I take them see the homeland. That's what I would want to do, all right, That's when I want to be one of my biggest experiences. Even though I ain't into all of that Safari and stuff like that. I get scared that the truck gonna break down and stuff like that. I'd be stuck in the Safari. I ain't trying to be somebody's meal. I ain't trying to have that, okay, but I would love to do that, right And then when it talks about that's the place that I would go and the thing that I would like to do. So that's what comes to my mind. The other stuff I can't repeat over FCC air waves. That is none of your business. Now let's go to the next one, Okay. As Stephen A. Smith at Underscore Chillington stephen A. Smith. Hey, stephen A. We all know about the polarizing hot dog being a sandwich debate, But consider a different scenario. When you pour milk into cereal. Would that milk now be considered a broth, a sauce, or a beverage? How the hell would I know? I really don't know where do y'all come up with some of these questions. It ain't a beverage because I mean, you know, that's just something you drinking, you know, with with with with, you know, just in and of itself, you know, the cereal. And then no, it wouldn't be a sauce either, But it could be because you know, it changed depending on the cereal. When you put fruit loops in milk, it's a different flavor that comes with it compared to honey combs or the sugar pops, you see what I'm saying. So it could be a sauce. I wouldn't say the broth. I would have to go with the sauce. I would go with the sauce. I mean, I don't really know what the hell I'm talking about. I'm just trying to answer your question. But if I had to guess between a beverage of sauce and a broth. I would say the sauce. Next tweet what you got Stephen they Smith? Or this is at RFC zero three one six see Nate Smith. What made you a Pittsburgh Steelers fan? The immaculate reception Frank o'harris going up against the Oakland Raiders when Terry Bradsher threw a pass over the middle of ricocheted it from a hit. You know, he got popped or the receiver got popped, got hit. It ricocheted off of him, bounced into the hands of Frank o'harris before it hit the ground, picked it up and scamped it down the left sideline for a touchdown. One of the greatest plays in NFL history. Here's the reason why it mattered to me. I was only five years old, and it's the first football game I ever saw. And when I saw that first highlight, when I saw that, I fell in love with the Black and Gold ever since, and I've been a Steelers fan ever since. That's the reason that happened. All right, One more to go? Hmm Elijah Goodman at SI seven e nt o cee Nay Smith. Should the Lakers move ad back to the fore and try to trade for a solid five. They literally beat Yolkic like that, and he has said in multiple interviews that it was his hardest struggle. Well, the Lakers have been trying to do that. The problem is they can't find a legitimate five that can do the things that they need to do, so they could put Anthony Davis comfortably at the four. So they're asking Anthony Davis to make that sacrifice. Now, a brother's big time. Anthony Davis one of the greatest players in the world. To issue with him is his health. But when this brother is on the basketball court playing, Anthony Davis is one of the elite superstars in the game of basketball. He's good for twenty eight and twelve a night. He's that big time, okay. And so in a perfect world, if the Lakers had the right kind of size and Anthony Davis didn't have to preoccupy himself with defending against five straight up, and he could be a spot on the front line there to provide help defense and block shots and what have you. I think he'd be even more formidable defensively, and we know offensively is but so much you can do with the brother because again. He is big time inside and out Legit six eleven, got moves around the basket, great footwork, high basket ball IQ Elite defensive player. Anthony Davis is a bona fide star in the game of basketball. They could help them by getting proper venting big boys like Yolkish from leaning on them and stuff like that. I think that would do big time help to them, Absolutely big time help for him. That's it for the tweets. Your calls are next, because I like to hear what y'all have to say to me live as well. You calling me, I'm gonna answer. Nobody's hotted. This is the stephen A. Smith Show. I am stephen A. Smith. I don't run in this day and age, probably because I can't with my knee. You know. That's the subject for another day. Back with your calls in a minute. This is a special edition to the show because I'm still on vacation, but I made sure to talk to my peeps beforehand. I did tweets earlier. I'm about to do phone calls now because it's about you. It's about me and you. You wanted to communicate with me, even on my vacation, I'm communicating with you. Let's go to the phonees. Okay, let's go to Trey in Atlanta. You're live with Steven A. What's up, Trey? What's up? Alabama? My bad? My bad? I'm sorry, Trey. What's going on? What's going on?
What's going on? Man? How you doing?
I'm good, man, good to talk to you. What's up?
Good?
Yes, sir? So my question is so I've been following you for a long time, man, and I just basically like the way that you go about business as far as how you talk about the players and things of that nature. I'm twenty seven years old and I want to get in the media space doing something. How would I go about, you know, trying to get that to make it a career.
Well, first of all, understand what you want to do, Trey, Okay, you want to be in front of the camera. Then you know what, you got a lot of people that are starting podcasting and doing things of that nature. That's true, but you also got to pay attention to the nuances that come along with the business. Like you have folks, they have podcasts and what have you. They get a camera, they get a microphone, they sit on the couch and you know, they talk a lot of shit, and we get all of that. But you know what, It's one thing to drop a curse word her here and there. It's another thing to not put on display the full arsenal of your vocabulary. To learn how to articulate and elocute your thoughts properly. That's suitable for linear television, digital TV and beyond digital video and stuff like that. You gotta know what advertisers and sponsors are looking for. You got to pay attention to those kind of things as well. You gotta also make sure that you have something to say. A lot of times people want to talk, but it's based off of just stuff that they're hearing. Of things of that nature. You gotta research, you gotta read, You gotta know what's going on. You gotta have historical context, you gotta know what the opposition may say. You got to take into account all sides. So you're having a discussing, a discussion with the viewer, with the listener, you're talking, not just at them. You're talking to them like I'm talking to you right now. Right. You see what I'm doing, Trey. You ask me a question, I'm giving you an answer. I'm not just talking. I'm answering your question because I listen to what you asked. That's how you have to treat every listener in every viewer. Talk to them in a way that they can understand what you're trying to say, and make sure that the content that you disseminate is relatable to whatever it is that you believe or they've convinced you. They'll want to hear you feel me.
Yeah, yes, sir, I do. I just want to appreciate it, man. I watch you every day on first take and just want to say, this is an honor to talk to you. Man. So I appreciate everything you just said.
Thank you, my brother, go at it. Get yours one man happy to help out at any time. Appreciate the call. Let's go to Dylan in New York. You're live with Steven It. What's up, Dylan? Yeah?
What's Stephen? And So I got a question for you?
Yes quick?
So I'm I'm He's probably the biggest Austin Reeves fans in the world, and I just want to get your point of view, like, how do you see his potential? Like do you think JJ Reddick will help him develop his game more like rich a higher ceiling.
I think so. I think that Austin Reeves works hard. I think he works on this game. I think fatigue kicked in a little bit last year because he played around the summertime as well. But I think that you know, he's shown a lot of promise and he continues to upgrade. He certainly needs to improve defensively. That's really really what it comes down to. He'd be surprised how much that would boost his confidence. Alex Caruso is somebody he can learn from that toughness, that rigidity in terms of what he brings to the court defensively. It can create additional opportunities for you as well. And obviously there's two things that I would tell you he needs to work on his defense that I just brought up, and his jump shot. It's not to say that he can't hit long grain jump shot, he can't hit threes, but he needs to get more and more and more proficient at it. Because when Lebron James and Anthony Davis are your teammates, You're going to get opportunities to hit open shots and you gotta make sure you bury them. And when you combine that with being a bit more tenacious defensively, thereby creating additional opportunities for yourself and your team on a defense on the offensive side of the ball. Because you've created stuff defensively by forcing turnovers and things of that nature, that makes you even more valuable to somebody like a JJ Reddick. Now, JJ Redick was never known for being a great defender ever a boy was he an elite shooter, make no mistake about it. So if you're Austin Reeves and you go in there and you show him that you're committed to improving defensively and you're committed to improving your jump shot, it's not just going to be a breath of fresh air to JJ Reddick. It's also going to be a breath of fresh air to Lebron James and Anthony Davis, And those are the two people you should want to please more than anybody. That's my answerity question.
It's because I got watch most of the Lakers game. Whenever sometimes we'll just completely lose confidence and like now even want to take.
The ball, do that. I can't do that. One thing I will say to you is here, you don't have a license to lose confidence when you're a Los Angeles Laker. Laker Nation, their attitude is, Yo, we the Lakers. We ain't got time for that. We got championships to win. Boston got one up on us. Now they got their eighteen championship. Now we trailing. We got seventeen. Damn that. Let's fix that. You see what I'm saying. So you gotta make sure that ain't you. That ain't your problem.
Okay, every shooter that goes there, they just lose confidence, get traded, get cut.
That's right there. I appreciate the call. Man, Thank you so much. Kevin in New Orleans, you're live with steven A. What's up, cap, Yo, it's up talk to me man.
Uh yeah, I'm just asking you if you played the College football twenty five game yet.
I have not. I'm not really big into the video games, but that's gonna to change because I got nephews and nieces on me all the time, not to mention some NBA players who are telling me I need to learn this stuff. And now you've got the college football stuff going on. I do need to learn it. I don't know, my brother, You're an expert at that, not me. But I'm gonna get I'm gonna learn it. I promise you that.
Okay, Okay, this game's a little hard.
It's gonna take some time to get used.
I got time, I got time, I got time. The key is learning, man, I'm not getting paid for it. So your crawl before you walk, you learn, you go through your growing things.
You know.
That's all? Yeah, yeah, all right, But I'm trying at least I'm not just sumarily dismissing it. You know what I'm saying. I could have said, what the hell you ask me about that for I'm playing no damn video games? But you're right. I'm wrong. I should play the more. I should play the more, and I will appreciate it. Man, Thank you so much. Aaron is Chicago. You're live of Steven the what's up? Aaron? How are you? Aaron? Are you there? How you doing?
Man?
Talk to me? What's going on?
Know?
Bro?
I was curious to see what you think the expectations. So the Chicago Bears are going to be not including playoffs and their divisions. Considering all the editions that they've made during the.
Offense, well, listen, they've upgraded stuff offensively already. They've been good defensively. And I think Caleb Williams is no joke. I think they were like the twelfth rank defense last year. Caleb Williams being there, I think that's a huge, huge plus. Ebn Flew says, your head coach. My issue with him is that, Listen, I can't hold it against them, but the bottom line is that you did get the impression they needed something new. But I'm gonna give them a chance. And I will say this, I don't expect them to make the playoffs this year, but it's not because I don't expect them to be improved. My issue is I'm much much higher on Green Bay and Detroit. I think when you look at green Bay, Jordan Love is no joke. And when you look at Detroit, they were in the NFC Championship game last year. They're not going away, all right. Coach Campbell is no joke. Right, He's a rough rider, and he's instilled something and he's really changed the culture of the Detroit Lions in such a way that I got to give props where it's due. It's one thing to say that the Chicago Bears ain't gonna make the players because they're not going to be very good. That's not my issue. I think they will be improved. I think they will be better. I think Kaylor Williams will prove to be a stud I'm wondering whether or not he's going to be the second coming of CJ. Stroud will find out. My issue with them is the division at the end. I think there are two teams that are ready in Green Bay and Detroit, and that is what I think is going to be a problem for Chicago, not because they're bereft of talent.
I respect your certain and sir, I appreciate it. I look forward to the season. God bless you.
Thanks a lot, man, God blessed. Feel free to call back anytime. All right. You know that was me talking to the people live taking your phone calls because I don't run. I like these questions. I wish a lot more of them come. I'm definitely going to incorporate that into this show. The only thing I'm incorporating into the show I want your videos to see. I don't want to just hear you I want to see you too sometimes, So I got videos coming up next. We haven't done that on this show. Were about to do that right now, right after this break. You're watching the Stephen A. Smith Show right here over the digital areas and YouTube and of course our Heart Radio back with more.
And then.
Welcome back to the special edition to the stephen Asmith Show over the digital areas of YouTube and of course our Heart Radio. Last, but not least, we did the tweets. Then we did the phone calls as promised. Some of you sent them videos. You want me to see who's saying something to me, who's asking me a question, not just hearing you. So I'm here to oblige. Let's see the videos that were sent them to me. Please, He's going on, missus, Stephen A.
Smith.
My name is Kobe Johnson, representing my university, Morgan State University in Baltimore, and my question to you is are you familiar with the Morgan State lacrosse history that is prevalent at Morgan State University. Morgan State University was the first HBCU to ever have a lacrosse team.
We're still going strong.
In twenty twenty three, the men's team won the championship in twenty twenty four of the women's team winning championship.
Are you hit?
Let me know I appreciate that, especially that last photo where you got my book up. Thank you very very much. But I'm here to tell you I am not familiar with lacrosse at Morgan State University. I'm not familiar with much lacrosse at all. I know the late great Jim Brown got rested so was a sensational lacrosse player before being considered the greatest running back to have ever played football. I get that part, and I know that lacrosse is very popular. I'm not throwing any shade on it. I'm not disrespecting it in any way. I'm simply making the point that I don't really follow lacrosse. I'm busy with basketball and football and boxing and UFC and baseball and all of these other stuff, these other sports that I have to cover. So I apologize for that. But that doesn't mean lacrosse is a big time That doesn't mean that you can't parlay that into bigger opportunities for yourself. It doesn't mean that you don't deserve all the credit in the world for being big time and anything you choose to do, because anything you choose to do thousands of not millions of people trying to do it too and then not doing it on your level. So major props to you, congratulations and keep on the grind. And props to Morgan State University. I love that place. I always love an HBCU appreciate the love. Thank you so much. Let me see the next video.
What's going on, stephn A. I want to know if Lebron stays with the Lakers and retires in a few years or whatever he does, does he get a jersey retired in Cleveland, Miami and LA the first they have three cities. Let me know.
I don't think he gets his jersey retired in LA. First of all, he wouldn't be the first. There are others that have had their jerseys retired in three cities. Will Chamberlain is one of them that comes to mind if I remember correctly. But I will tell you this, he doesn't get this jersey retired in LA. It's the Lakers. You just got one championship, one one lockout, another lockout, but COVID shortened season or COVID interrupted season. Look in the bubble, it's hard he deserves a lot of credit for it. But I don't think you get your jersey retired because of that. Lebron is Lebron. He's big time, became an all time leading scorer in NBA history wearing a Lakers uniform. You could make the case for that, he's a champion in the Lakers uniform. You can make a case for that. But when you consider the greatness of the Los Angeles Lakers, Magic Johnson five rings, Kobe Bryant five rings, Shaquille O'Neal four rings, Kareem abdul Jabbar, when you see that stuff, the great Jerry West, even though he only had one ring, but obviously he was the silhouette. I mean, you could retire Lebron james jersey. I can't rule it out. But if you didn't retire his jersey in Los Angeles, I don't think anybody was sneeze at that. You gotta retire his jersey in Miami, and you gotta retire it definitely in Cleveland. That's just me. Let's go to the last one right.
Here, Stephen Aham, my question for you is Bronnie James. Can he be more than just a role player in the NBA. Can he even be a role player in the NBA. What is Bronnie James ceiling in the NBA? That is my question, Thank.
You, great question. Honest answer. We don't know. And anybody who tells you he knows a damn liar. You just don't know. There's no way around it. Here's the reason why. The one year that he first where he was in high school, he was an All American, but he was averaging fourteen points a game. And there's a lot of people that were critical of him being an All American because they said he was that because of his dad, because you don't becoming McDonald's All American averaging fourteen the game. Kendrick Perkins came on this show and said that then he goes to college, he gets to suffers to cardiac arrest before his first season, and he can't come back to play until January, and then even then he's limited about nineteen minutes a game, averages under five points a game. So we needed to see more. Danny decides that he's going pro and he's going enter the NBA draft, and it was paid for him to be drafted as a Los Angeles Laker, and sure enough, he got drafted by the team his daddy plays on. He's got a contract. He's a legit six ' to one damn good defensive player, considered to have a high basketball IQ. Goes in the Summer League, play plays in four games. First few games, first couple of games, rather he shoots oh fifteen from three point range. He's averaging like four points. He's shooting about twenty three percent from the field. But then the last two games he comes on and he plays significantly better, like twenty one points over the next two games, shooting very very well, considering how he had been struggling. And so you see that he's a kid that's gonna continue to work on his game. He's obviously learning from the best possible tutor on a planet in Lebron James. That's his daddy, and JJ Reddick knows a thing or two about teaching the game of basketball as well. So in the G League, I assume he'll spend some time in there. If he's not gonna spend time, he'll be around the NBA players. You believe he'll work hard, he'll consider to grow, and we'll take it from there. I'm not gonna rule out the possibility that he's gonna be a quality player. There are people at this moment who are more deserving of the opportunity he was. There is no doubt about that. Nepotism definitely played a role, But what else is new that does in our society in a multitude of levels. I'm not gonna throw any shade on him because of that. I wish him nothing but the best, but it's gonna be a challenge. And the honest answer to your question is, we have not the slightest damn idea of what Brownie James is going to be. We gotta wait and see. We just do. That's it for the special edition of The Stephen A. Smith Show. I hope you enjoyed my tweets. I hope you enjoyed the phone calls. I hope you enjoyed the videos because I'm gonna keep giving those to you. Right you said you wanted them, so I've incorporated it into the fabric of the show. From time to time, you'll get those things, if not more frequently than that, just the taste of things to come. It's twenty twenty four were on the tail end of that, and twenty twenty five is rapidly approaching. Stay tuned the stephen A. Smith Show, over YouTube and our Heart Radio. You never know what you're gonna get until next time. Piece of Lover
