What's up everybody. Hope y'all had an absolutely positively wonderful weekend. I know I did. Welcome to the ladies' edition of The stephen A. Smith Show coming at you over the digital airways or YouTube, and of course iHeartRadio as always. I like to pause to take a moment to thank my subscribers and followers. We've now we clipsed over nine hundred and thirty eight thousand subscribers. Keep climbing and climbing and climbing. We've exceeded over three million downloads over the last few months. Can't thank y'all enough for the love and support. Keep it coming, and I'm gonna keep on coming. I got a lot of stuff to get into, you know, some stuff and sports, some stuff and pop culture, some stuff that I don't consider entertainment. I'd call it my crime beat for crying out loud, because I'm gonna touch on the Menendez Brothers. You know, I'm gonna do something like that. Might even touch on a little something else as well, but I'm gonna get into my sports first before I get into the NFL. This week, talk with my man CC, Chris Carter, the one and Only Chris Carter only does his catch touchdowns. I gotta start this show off because it's something that I don't know when this was done, but it had me laughing all morning. So I said, I'm going to start my show off with this subject today before I get into the headlines for week twelve. Like I said, I need y'all to hear this sound from a man. Chad Johnson aka o Cho Sinko. Now, if y'all don't remember, Chad Johnson played eleven seasons in the National Football League. Was absolutely superstar wide receiver playing for the Cincinnati Bengals for the better part of that career, and he says he never sustained a significant injury. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this might explain. Why take a listen to this clip he please from seven PM in Brooklyn, you know Carmelo Anthony Kinmurrow, presented by Waves Sports and Entertainment. Please take a look at this. Please look at Chad Ojosika. You shared a unique remedy to treat ankle springs. Use quoted that saying, I collect warm urine from my teammates, gat it up and put my ankle in it for thirty minutes at work.
So I'm your teammates.
Get me collect?
How do you collect my piss?
You got team meetings in the morning, right, everybody, Hey, y'all boy through me a favor. Boy, My ankle kind of fucked up. I need you to all y'all to drink water at one time. So when we break meeting. If y'all pee, it's a bucket in the bathroom. Put y'all pe in that bucket for me. I take it as long as it's enough that comes above the ankle, you know, warm it up.
I feel like there had to be at least some you know what I mean, some choices that you went through before you finally landed on, like pee and the ankle.
No, my grandma told me about that back in the days. The reason I've never been injured. Home remedies can.
I can't argue with the results, though, Man like you look like you can better shaped the most NFL players in here living proof.
Now, I gotta admit something. That's some nasty shit. I'm sorry, that's just nasty. That's just nasty right now, I gotta admit, you know, the brother wasn't known for being injured during his NFL career, but to stick It's bad enough to stick your feet in urine intentionally, okay, but it's even worse when you're willing to allow it to be other peoples you're in and not your own. Other people's stuff entering your pores and your ladies and gentlemen. Just because you can't see everything with the human eye doesn't mean that it can't penetrate the body. You understand, I'm saying, poors, sweating stuff like that, little microscopic holes that can get inside of you, and you're letting other people's urine get into you. And here's the thing, this is the reason that it had me laughing because I love O Choe Sik. I love them, but this is what had me laughing about it. What had me laughing about it is that I looked at the brother and I was like this, Now, when eon nightcap with my man Shannon Shop, they be talking about some freaky diey stuff. You know what I'm saying. I mean, they they they tend to go there. Okay, that's not what we do on the show like this, but they tend to do that. More power to them, And so one could easily ask the question, you understand, I mean that does Ocho Sikle have a kind of toe feintish. And what I hope is that if there is a toe fetish that exists with him, it's something he's putting his mouth on as opposed to allowing somebody else to put their mouth on his Because now that we know where he sticks his feet or where he's stuck his feet for throughout his career, other people's urine penetrating the seams and stuff like that of his skin and all of this other stuff. I just don't know. Man. I love you Oho, you know that, Bro, We go back a long ways. But damn this son different.
Bro.
I've known a lot about you. I never knew that stuff sticking your feet in other people's urine, that it's just nasty. Bro, That's just nasty. But more power to you, More power to you. Let me get to my guests. He's raised. He's with me right now. I'll tell you. He joins me every week only does his catch touchdowns. One of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history, Hall of Fame wide receiver, the one of only Chris Carter. Chris you heard me. You heard the brother talking about avoiding injuries having his feet stuck in other people's urine, giving details about it with a smile on his space with fly ass shades on what do you have to say about that? Cc U A wide receiver.
Ocho Sinko would do anything to get attention for himself. For one, I'm one hundred percent certain it don't work. Okay, is the worst thing coming out of your body? The next worst thing is spit. Now, imagine somebody's spitting on you. So now I'm getting ready let someone urinate it. So the process of urination is is to remove the waste from your body and a liquid. It's all wait us And he's talking about all over his career he didn't get injured and everything.
Well, let me tell you.
Came into the league in two thousand and one. I was in the process of going out in.
Two thousand and two.
So I played in the eighties, the nineties, in the two thousand I played a lot more physical game than he's used to.
Minors eed years. I'm in this four game. Ain't no home remedies, ain't no, ain't no.
It's his hard work, man, it's his hard work. Now, did I have some more remedies and stuff in the locker?
Run.
Yes, there was one around NFL that this horse treatment Paul DMMSL And if you had a muscle strain, if you had especially a calf pool or Hamstein strain, used to rub this liquid on it. Horse trainers use it. It makes horses operate.
Now, it will make you smell like a horse. You will have a lot of stink of Brockley on you.
So whoever just sleeping with for four or five days, it's gonna be on you. It's gonna make your skin get an unbelievable rats on it book. Your hamstream will be better on Sunday and you will be able to run.
So as far as remedies and everything.
O Joe Sinker should have came up for a remedy of how you can remember Bill Belichick and Tom Brady's.
Playbook when he got to New England, did.
Well, be nice to the brother.
I'm all about hitting some type of advantage, but don't be out here preaching stuff that don't work. Don't be telling football player stuff that don't work just to try to get some some hits and some clicks and stuff on me.
I see what take.
I'm not gonna get on the brother too much because the brother could play and the whole bit. And I'm not gonna get into his game. The last experience in New England was what it was. But I'm just saying that I just had to hear from a wide receiver talking about sticking your feet and urine help you avoid injuries. I never heard that ship in my life.
No in the history of football has never done it.
Nobody, let me get Let me get into some stuff on the field right now. Kwon Barkley put on the show. We all know we saw him put on the show. That's the MVP race conversation that we need to get started with. Eagles won last night thirty seven to twenty. A running back hasn't won the MVP since Adrian Peterson did it, I think in like twenty twelve. What are your thoughts about, say, Kwan Barkley is the leading candidate for MVP right now.
I mean he shouldn't be if you see what he does to Philadelphia, because Philadelphia's been on to throw the ball with Jalen Hurt, and they've been on the run the ball a decent amount with Jalen and the other running BOMs. And we thought with Kelsey Levin that they would lose some of that physicality of time. Man, this dude not only does he bring them physicality, but he's one of the rare players in the NFL.
But anywhere on the field in Texas see today that he can score.
First time I saw him play in person, it was Penn State playing in the horse through Ohio State and he returns the opening.
Kickoff, was stating about one hundred yards hundred three yards back for a touchdown and getting stamped.
Now Hio State ends up coming back and and and pumpled them pretty good. But he put a mark on my I'm gonna say, I'm gonna watch him, and I listened to some interviews the last couple of weeks and he's finally said, Hey, my disposition from college to New York it changed how I reacted to pro football. It made me more introvert. Like I'm an extrovert, I'm a happy, go lucky guy. I'm a showlan. And you're starting to see that on the field. You see him going out of balance. He did a hesitation move that Paul's moved. And he had told his teammate Darius Slave before the Giants game when the crowd started going to at the beginning, I'm gonna put two hundred on him.
So he is operating at all time high as far as confidence.
He is a perfect mix for what they have done this off season, which puts Alie Roseman in position to be Executive of the Year.
But Man, he is a perfect fit for Philly, and.
He had him and Hilly are the only team that could master physicality at Detroit in the NFCS.
How bad do the New York Giants look today, knowing they just let go of Daniel Jones granted him his released upon request, They look horrible. Saquon Barkley is doing his thing and and he's an MVP candidate, and they are in football purparatory to the point where a rookie in Nate and mckelm and they in nagpors coming out and he's basically saying, we ain't worth a damn we soft, we ain't good. How bad is Saquon making the Giants look right now?
For one steven And you know, it's It's already hard enough to keep your roster intact. It's hard enough to recruit players, it's hard enough to retain players and to.
Keep developing them.
But one day when you own NFL team, Stephen and and you have me's been sult you're gonna ask me, Chris, what we're gonna do?
Say better?
This one we definitely not want to do. When ever gonna let any of our good players go to a rival. We didn't go let them go in our division. We're gonna trying to let them go into NFC because not only does it make you and your organization weaker, it strengthens the opposition. It's a it's a combination counter continent that you can't recover from. So that's what they end up doing. They're so embarrassed they cut a guy who got guaranteed money going home collected, said go.
Home, well, we'll send you money.
To you go home getting a better situation. That's how embarrassing this situation is. And this will cost multiple people because let's go back to that interview where they try to clown say Van Barkley this offseason. They knew that camera was on, they knew what was going on. So the giants, the giants are getting what they deserve. And it's been a long time since the giants in the Marrow family have run the team the way that we are used to the Marrows and and and the other people associated with that in a long time.
They got one playoff victory in thirteen years two playoff appearances. They they've been horrible. Their record is like seventy eight, one, twenty seven and one. Uh they've had They've had more head coaches than playoff appearances in that span. They have been horrible. I don't know how it's gotten this bad. I think Dave was gonna lose his job. I'm not sure how much he deserves it because I know he can coach. He was a Coach of the Year. But Sean, the GM definitely looks bad and I don't think he'll ever get another GM job again. I think it's inevitable.
And look this er during this era that they have struggled.
Doubtless, that's been average a little both era Washington has been.
Like so was an error not where teams is balling. No, no, no, they had.
Plenty opportunity where two of their rivals were weak to average at best. So it's hard to explain how bad they've been in this mediocre era.
NFC East, I got to ask you about the vikings in this regard because they want a close game against the Business. They won game behind the Lions in the NFC North. But you've seen what you've seen from the Lions, you've seen what you're seeing from the Eagles. With say, come on, Barkley, is this a two horse race in the NFC or do you still think that the Minnesota Vikings at nine to two are a team your team that can make some noise.
The only reason why I think this is because Detroit's in our division and our team is built for a team like Detroit. When you look at Brian Florest, the way the defense is going to be sending people from multiple directions, the overall physicality they've been able to hold up, but ultimately grub it's back to you, Steve and.
Ay is right again, what is Sam Darnold going to do?
We have seen sometimes he's been efficient, but what stops people from jumping a voter confidence is how good is he going to be going against Jared Dalton Jalen Hurt, Because then dudes is balling And if you look at the tail of the tail in that category, you've got to give those.
Teams an advantage over.
The Vikings, and that's a significant advantage when you talk about the guy who's touching the ball every play.
They do have a good surrounding team. Special teams are really underrated.
Field goal kicker is good from fifty three and in, and their defense is much improved. So yes, the vikings can be there, but Sam Donald will have something to say about that positive mardinating.
If the playoffs were to begin the day, do you realize that the Seattle Seahawks not the San Francisco forty nine. There's not the Los Angeles Rams, not even Calamary and Arizona Cardinals. It would be the Seattle Seahawks that were in the playoffs representing the NFC West. How shocked are you by that?
Well, I'm really shocked to San Francisco. I thought they had one more run in them.
Before they had to sign Purty to a long term d I knew they were going to have problems when Brandon Ayut was demanding the type of money because that really threw.
The salary structure way way.
Deebo Samuels is a dynamic player, but he is not a number one one.
Wide receiver outside the numbers.
You can see him Green Bay last last night and just that he was playing outside the numbers, and he dropped a couple of balls because he's not back time, he's a slash receiver.
Put him in a slot, rang on some reverseless things like that.
But now that Auth is out, I was always worried about Wings, and he took a little more of the money. So the one thing none of us considered about San Francisco because they've had such a dominant roster for a long time, is what happens when you lose the Super Bowl? Stephen, Hey, what's gonna happen in the last twenty thirty years, typically tea what they suffered a huge letdown.
And not only is this going to be a letdown.
From the super Bowl, but I do believe that the window in San Francisco is close because they're gonna have to sign Purty to a big deal, They're gonna lose some of their free agency, have to make some tremendous adjustments.
So see, I don't appreciate the fact that you didn't bring up to Stephen A was right yet again in that particular instance, because I've been saying that for a while about San Francisco. You've been knocking on a do you the four NFC championship game. Two Super Bowl appearances in the last five years, have no super Bowl championship to show for it, and everybody think it's just gonna be easy for you to get back to that. This is chickens coming home in the Rust. It's just that simple. You had your opportunities, you can't miss them. You got to take advantage of them in the National Football League, or it's gonna cost you. Speaking of champions speaking of super Bowl championships, we gotta get to Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City real quick. How many damn close games, close calls or are they gonna be able to absorb before it ultimately and before it ultimately bites them. I don't think you can win a Super Bowl winning the way that they've been winning CC. I think eventually it catches up to you.
Well, I just think conventional thinking, yes, that would happen. But we are talking about the best player and the best coach. So for many of years, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick won and guess what it's winning. Okay, that's winning when all the pressure is on them as a two time champ, perennial Super Bowl contenders, all these things else, Kansas City can get.
To the playoffs and get a bye.
There is nobody talking about let's go to Arrowhead, man, let me go to Arrowhead and try to beat them to get into the championship game. So they only benefit once they get into the playoff. They're getting everyone's best week. Carolina was playing the super Bowl this week. Man, they thought they had a feat And that's the way it is every week. If you look at the outside pressure, we thought last year Taylor Swier they wouldn't be able to repeat. All these things going off the field, Patrick Mahome's family. They seem to be able to make all the right moves and then now they're trying to three peat. Wat they at the Gina, we had two of their star players Hots get robbed. There's nothing worse than getting robbed, man, that's an invasion of your privacy. They got a number of other things going on. Being who they are that has not had them to be distracted. So they're able to focus enough. So we should applaud them based on what they're doing. NFL games are hard to win.
Every game they win a different way. It goes into their DNA, it goes into their power.
Now the team knows we win defense, we win Special City. But at the end they know they got the guy. They can drive down the field, ohka, like he's going out bounds and turn it up just like you want last year.
So City, I'm City.
I'm gonna say this to you. I'm gonna say this to you. If I had to pick the winner of the Super Bowl right now, it would be Kansas City against uh Detroit. I would pick Detroit. I picked right now. I ain't gonna lie. Yeah, I ain't gonna lie.
So just remember remember, ok yeah, we're gonna get the pets. Okay, but that's the home man.
See I don't trust it, Okay, Okay, so so so so that's what it is. You just taking Patrick Mahomes and against the field. That's what you're doing.
Man.
They showing me every week that they about that business, they about that work.
He's not playing his best football.
He there is no flayer in the NFL that has more pressure on him than Patrick mahone and he is still winning football games. Steven A, don't we like everybody else. Now, don't forget the number one step for a quarterback is does my guy get on the winning bus? Remember that's how we used to judge Tom Brady from the first three Super Bowls.
We judged him that way. Then it was about our six everything.
But does my guy get us on the winning bus?
All right, look, man, I'm gonna let you go. I appreciate you, bro, thanks a lot.
Man.
We got a lot to talk about it that in the weeks to come, make no mistake about that. But right now I got my eyes on Detroit and Philadelphia because I think that's a confrontation. I see Minnesota on the outside looking in. But you know what I mean, I just don't want to bring that up. I didn't bring that up because Thanksgiving is coming up. You know. I ain't want to mess up your Thanksgiving by letting you know your purple people eithers are gonna get eaten up if they go up against Detroit or Philadelphia. I ain't feel like doing it to you this week. Ce See, that's why I didn't bring it up, right, That's why I didn't bring it up.
Yep, CEC's grateful for a lot of things. I'm grateful that you're my friend. I'm grateful we got a lot of things that he thankful for. So that's what we put across the airways. I appreciate you, bruh, appreciate you putting me back in the distance with you, no doubt. All love baby. I'll talk to you soon, talk to you soon. Happy Thanksgiving one lonely CC Carter right here with boy stephen A.
Coming up. The Menendez brothers had to court for hearing that could release them after nearly thirty years in prison for killing their parents. Also the latest and Dinney's federal cases. He tries to get bail ahead of his federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial. Plus Kayan Anthony, the son of Melo himself, the one and only Carmelo Anthony commits to Syracuse as a top forty recruiting the classic twenty five. What do I have to say about all of that? Now.
Been pretty busy lately, politics, news, all of this other stuff, but I wanted to get to this story and light of the things that I discussed about Lebron and Bronni a few days ago. A little more than a week ago, there was a small headline in the world of college basketball. Kayane Anthony, a top forty recruit in the class of twenty twenty five, the son of Carmelo Anthony. Ladies and gentlemen, he committed to Syracuse, where his daddy played. For those of y'all who don't remember Carmelo Anthony, remember Jim Beaheim all of those years forty years he coached at Syracuse. He had Sherman Douglass and Derek Coleman and Billy Owens and all of these cats. Okay, and let's not forget the greatest show in the history of college basketball, in my opinion, Dwayne Pearl Washington. Okay, anybody that knows basketball knows I'm right about that. None of them led Syracuse to a national championship. Carmelo Anthony did as a freshman back in two thousand and three, he was averaging He averaged twenty two to ten that year. She was thirty four percent for the field that year. Brother was all world. Anyway. As for Kayan, he's six feet five. He's a six ' five shooting guard out of Long Island Lutheran who's considered one of the best pure scorers in the country. Here's a clip of Kanya. I'm making the announcement on his father's podcast seven PM in Brooklyn, presented by Wave Sports and Entertainment. Take a listen.
But between USC and Syracuse, just want to think both of them for coming to all my practases, coming to all my games and yeah, but at the end of the day, you know only one can stay. And with that being said, I'll be coming in Syracuse University.
Yes, sir, first of all, major thing, major props. Rather the kanyee uh the brother can play. I have not seen him. In full disclosure, I've heard scouts talking about him. I've had people talking to me about him, and obviously, considering that he's the son of Carmelo Anthony, you're gonna ask the obvious questions, how's this game and how does that game compare to the likes of Brownie James and other and you know stuff like that. Forget all of that for a second. Let me first say congratulations to this kid. The kids average nineteen point six points on a Nike eybl circuit in the spring, scoring twenty five or more points in four of the fifteen games he played. He was even more prolific at the Nike Beach Jam over the summer, average in twenty one point eight points and thirty seven point three percent shooting from three point range in eight games, including a forty pointer of forty point out in against the mac Irvin Fire when he shot fifteen of nineteen from the field and five to six from three point range. Just to give him a little bit more props, let me tell you what the Scotting report is on him. Out of two forty seven sports. It says he's skilled, smooth scorer, high volume shot taker and maker. Plays with an aggressive scoring mentality and his constantly hunting buckets. He's had the ultimate green light, particularly in the eybl so he has a tendency to set up for tough shots at times. But there are a few players in high school basketball better equipped to make shots with such high degrees of difficulties. He's got pull up step backs, float as deep threes, all with with a natural soft touch and instinctive feel for putting the ball in the basket. His footwork and jab series are as advanced as you'd expect, and he's also become very adept at coming off of ball screens, ranking in the ninety percent tile in those situations. During the twenty twenty four eybl percentergy that sounds like Carmelo Anthony jab step, pull up? Who this is? Melo? Were talking about? Scorer of twenty eight thousand career points, who was named to the NBA's seventy fifth Anniversary Team in twenty and twenty one. During his one season a Syracuse he led them to the national Championship. He was an All American, he was an NCAA final Foremost Outstanding Player honoree. He's also a three time Olympic gold medalist. That's who we're talking about with Carmelo Anthony. Why do I bring that up? Why do I bring that up? Because it needs to be said. Melo is Melo, class PERSONA five, always a beautiful brother, always even killed. All of these months we've been hearing Bronnie James, Bronnie James, Bronnie James, when have you heard about kaya, particularly out of the mouth of Carmelo Anthony. A matter of fact, when you heard Carmelo Anthony, you know what you heard from Carmelo Anthony when people were asking him whether someone was gonna go pro or not a few months ago, he said, I want to hear that shit. He said that brother got to get on this game, be on his grind and figure out what college he's going to go to. That's what he said. And see, that's where the subject has to be broached. Now, when we look at Carmelo Anthony, his career is not comparable to that of Lebron James. Because Lebron James is a four time champion and he's played ten times in the NBA finals. Carmelo Anthony never got there once. That is a huge blemish on the career of Carmelo Anthony. It is the only blemish on the career of Carmelo Anthony. Olympic gold medalist, All World scorer, perennial All Star face of a franchise in Denver and then ultimately New York. When I think about Carmelo Anthony. I think about a dude. I believe that Joe Dumars would probably still be an executive in the NBA. I'm not talking about the NBA League office, but I'm talking about for the NBA team. When he had Tayshaun Prince and he had Ben Wallace, and he had Rashid Wallace, and he had Rip Hamilton, and he had Chauncey Billups and stuff like that. Yeah, you're gonna draft Darko Milerchick. I understand that with the person that should have been drafted number two overall behind Lebron James in two thousand and three should have been Carmelo Anthony. Why Because I think about what Bobby Knight once said about Michael Jordan. Draft Michael Jordan number one. They said, what if you need a center? He said, draft Michael Jordan and play them at center, because that's how great Michael Jordan was. And I think with Carmelo Anthony, considering the discrepancy that existed between a Darko and a Carmelo, you don't worry about the fact that you got Tayshawn Princes your three. You grab Carmelo Anthony and you think about the future of the franchise. That's just me. Joe Dumars guided them to like six conference consecutive conference finals in an NBA and back to back NBA Finals appearances, and won a championship with Larry Brown as his coach. I'm not here to impugn the greatness and the reputation of Joe Dumars. I'm just saying that's the one blemish because Carmelo Anthony was that special and even though he doesn't have a championship on his resume in the NBA, you would be hard pressed to find too many people that are more respected and loved as Carmelo Anthony, and you're looking at somebody that's got a whole lot of love for Carmelo Anthony. I bring that up because it's it's very very important to understand and appreciate how he and Kanye's mother, La La, the wonderful La La Anthony have handled the son. I'm not talking about the son's doing anything wrong. I'm not talking about Brownie doing anything wrong. I'm not talking about Kayan doing anything wrong. I'm talking about how Carmelo Anthony handled it. So coming onto the college scene, they no questions about Cayen. We want to see what he's gonna do and whether or not he's gonna emulate his daddy, who, by the way, has the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center, the arena named after him, named after him. He's going to the university. He's going to the university where his father has a basketball center named after him, where his father is the only person in the history of the school to deliver a national championship. Do you have any idea how much pressure comes with that? Not only does he not care I'm talking about Cayenne. Not only does he not care, not only is he not looking forward to the is he looking forward to the challenge. There's no one out there who expects him to fail because his game is not a question mark. See the difference. See where I'm going Brownie James. I'm rooting for wonderful family, great kid. He has done nothing wrong. Lebron James one of the top two players in the history of basketball. He's on the Mount Rushmore. He did nothing intentionally wrong, but he publicly stated that he wanted to play with his son in the NBA and then publicly made it happen. And so as a result, the criticism that has come Bronnie's way has been excessive, and it has been unfair, and it has been cruel. But who instigated it. It was Lebron. Lebron guess what, ladies and gentlemen, absolutely pun intended. All he had to do was be Mello. It's the one time in Lebron's basketball life he should have been mellow pun intended. Don't say much, do all you can to help his game grow, and then step back and let his game speak for him. So when he's elevated, no one has anything to say but Dan. That's his son. This brother Kyenne hasn't played a college game yet. He's going to Syracuse and all of us are sitting there looking at him. With the evaluation process that has taking place, with what scouts have seen, with the way his game has been dissected, we're expecting him to be an extension of his daddy, a six ' five scoring machine with a jab step, with a pull up, with a setup, with a j with a three who smoothed. Listen to the things that they say. It sounds just like Mellow. And they're the one saying this, not Mellow. They're the ones doing the talking, not Mellow. Mello went out of his way, didn't even want to be a part of the whole recruiting process, praying that he would go to Syracuse, but didn't want to play a role in influence in the son. So he said, Yo, go ahead, you go to USC and talk to Auburn and whomever, but I gotta stay out of it. And his son ended up going to the school his father starred a determined to make his own name, and he's saying, Yo, look at all my father has done, but I'm coming. He has single handedly turned Syracuse basketball into a box office commodity and he hasn't even started there yet. Because I can't wait to see him now, because I want to see when he goes to practice at the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center and he's playing at the Dome in front of forty thousand people or something. Is he gonna be that dude? They're saying, he got a chance. They're saying, now, Carmelo, he's just a proud paper. He didn't influence anything. He just got his son ready and made it happen. Why am I telling y'all this Because I'm in the media and I know what's coming. And eventually the opposite is going to be coming in Broni's direction because of the process that unfolded, and it's all gonna fall at the doorsteps of Lebron James because he dictated the process instead of letting it play itself out. I'm telling y'all what I know, not trying to be negative, not trying to Lebron did nothing intentional to hurt his son, but it hurt nevertheless because of how he handled it. He should have been mellow. He should have been mellow. Are you watching football games on your phone, Billy, making out the names of the players on their jerseys and wishing you were at the game. Let's move on to some college football and talk about two teams fighting for a spot in the college football playoff. Real quick, please, Colorado and Alabama. We'll start with Colorado with a chance for Deon Sanders and the Buffs and took a big hit after Kansas, of all teams, beat them Saturday thirty seven to twenty one. Colorado's record is now six and two and they'll need help to reach the conference title game. The Buffalos were destroyed on the ground as the Jails rush for three hundred and thirty one yards on fifty seven carries. As for Alabama, they were blown out by Oklahoma twenty four to three and their third loss of the season. Quarterback Jalen Milroad through three interceptions and completed the less than half of its passes for the Crimson Tide. Let me say this about Colorado first before I get into Alabama. Here's the biggest problem. Two things with Colorado dion not having some hogs on the offensive on the line of scrimmage offensively or defensively, you give up three hundred and thirty three hundred plus yards Russia three hundred and thirty one yards. In this particular case, people can run all over you. You gotta have some You gotta have some big boys up in there, and it's gonna be pretty difficult for him to get them to Colorado. So I think that plays a role. But here's the biggest thing that plays a role. Too many damn dudes on the team think they prime time. Your coach is prime time, not you. Deon Sanders is the greatest cornerback in NFL history and arguably the greatest athlete in American history. Played basketball, played baseball, played football, played football in the NFL while he was playing Major League Baseball, played for the Braves, played for the Yankees. Deon Sanders is as elite as they come and a winner wherever he goes. All American at Florida State, special teams, wide receiver, cornerback in the NFL, as a player, the brothers all world, y'all are not what maybe Travis Hunter is, because that brother is special, but y'all are not. And because all this hype and his hooplone, this shun that was thrown on the process and throwing on the organization, you got cats walking around there acting like you did something you ain't done. Shit he has. That's why Deon Sanders went up there in the post game and said, yo, cats were feeling themselves. Your coach is the Hall of Famer, Your coach was the All world player. Your coach was the marquee, the box office attraction. Not you. You lost to Nebraska, Now you've lost to Kansas. That's how it goes. That's their problem. When they were three and oh last year, they were feeling themselves and they got their behinds kicked six straight weeks to seven or eight weeks to close out the season. This year is significantly much better. But the minute we start acknowledging it, getting you set for a big twelve championship game at a probable berth in the college football playoffs, you go and you lose to a team that already had five to six losses on the season, Kansas, three hundred and thirty one yards Russian. Y'all ain't Prime. You're coached by Prime. Somebody needed to tell y'all that. That's why I'm reminding you. The other story is Alabama, ladies and gentlemen. If Alabama fans protested and demanded the program fire Kaitlyn de Boor, and they got on their hands and knees and protested outside the Gates of ESPN to insist that Nick Saban be let go from college football game day so he could return as coach at Alabama. I wouldn't blame him. I mean, damn, it's bad enough you lost the Vanderbilt for the first time in forty years. It's bad enough you had two losses. But then you're gonna turn around and lose to Oklahoma and by the way, score three points. That's the most points. That's the least amount of points Alabama's been held to since two thousand and four against South Carolina. That's one of the worst losses they've had in decades. I mean, this is just embarrassing. Kady. The boy comes from Washington, comes from the PAC twelve two tome PAC twelve Coach of the Year. You've won wherever you've gone. But clearly you're comfortable with for ness because when you got to go against hogs and rough riders and you got some yourself, and for some reason you can't figure out how to utilize them. What does that make you? Jaylen Mirroe, your chances that a hetsman are over. You ain't getting that scratch that dream and the boy succeeded. Nick Saban where's the attention to detail, ladies and gentlemen. This is Oklahoma we're talking about. Ain't that damn good? Ain't that damn good? Nicky Rolly ain't coaching it no more? And even before then, it's been damn near decades before you heard defense and Oklahoma football mentioned in the same breath. But they hold Alabama to three points. This is bad. It's very bad. I just wanted to say that, Okay, if Kaylyn de Boor was succeeding anybody else, we got a stomach it and liveid it. There's no way that a knick saving team would have allowed that to happen yesterday. There's no way that the knick saving team is walking against so walking on the field against Oklahoma and they scoring three points. That is horrible, horrible. I'm not saying Daylan Kaylyn the boy can't coach. I'm not saying that he doesn't belong coaching on an elite level on college football. But maybe Alabama was the wrong program for him. Maybe he should have succeeded somebody like Brian Kelly at LSU or jimbo Fisher at Texas A and M or something like that, Or maybe he should have gone that Florida State to succeed Norville. So Dion could come to some place like the SEC, assuming he's going to be a to recruit them hogs that you need to block on your offensive line and to get after the quarterback on the defensive line. But outside of that, when I look at the Boar succeeding Nick Saban appears to be too much for him, and we're seeing the results. Alabama is not going to be playing for the SEC championship and they ain't gonna make the playoffs either. We wouldn't have even thought about that kind of catastrophe taking place, that Nick Saban was still here and that man is over seventy. What the hell is going on? What's going on? The Manettees brothers had to court seeking and release nearly thirty years after killing their parents, plus Diddy himself Shaan P. Diddy cohones awaits word on bail in his federal sex trafficking and racketeering case. All of them are coming up right here on the stephen A. Smith Show. Don't go away, Welcome back to the stephen A. Smith Show. I've waited a while to talk about this next subject because to be quite honest with you, it's kind of boggled my mind. I have to admit in Los Angeles where I'm at this particular moment in time. The Menendez brothers are set to appear in court today for status hearing to consider new evidence in the trial that sent them to prison for the rest of their lives without parole. The brothers were convicted of double murder for killing their parents with a shotgun back in nineteen eighty nine in Beverly Hills. Both Lyle and Eric Menendez admitted to the murders, but claimed they were committed in self defense for a lifetime of abuse, including sexual abuse by their father. As for the new evidence, their attorneys want to present a letter Eric wrote to his cousin detailing his father's alleged abuse. They also want to present allegations from a former member of the boy band Menudo, who says he was allegedly raped by the Menandes boy's father. As well, Ladies and gentlemen, I'm kind of old school with things like this, and I for nine, you take a life, you sacrifice your own if it's murder. Self defense is a different matter altogether, so I understand the trepidation in some people's eyes. You have people who say, you know, they've served nearly thirty five years in jail already and because of that they have paid their debt to society. Well, who told you that there are people who are in jail for the rest of their lives because they've killed someone. In this case, a couple of people were killed, and where I try to be somewhat sympathetic in terms of understanding because because if their father indeed was molesting them and sexually abusing them, I'm not going to be irresponsible by saying that he deserved what he got, because I'm not going to condone murder. But i will say I'm not shedding any tears for him. Let the Lord deal with his soul. What I will say, however, is that how do you explain killing the mother? I've heard nobody ask that question. Was the mother sexually abusing you? Maybe you should have felt she should have done more, assuming that you're telling the truth, which I don't know, but maybe you're saying she should have done more. But the point is, was the mom sexually abusing you? Because if the mom wasn't sexually abusing you, which kill her? For now, Ladies, and gentlemen, I had my researcher looked something up for me. I don't want to read you the details of the murder for a second. In nineteen eighty nine, Eric and Lao Menandez bought a pair of shotguns with cash, walked into their home, and shot their parents while the parents were watching a movie in the family living room. Prosecutors said Jose Menendez was struck five times, including in the back of the head, and Kitty Menendez, the mom, crawled on the floor wounded before the brothers reloaded and fired a final fatal blast. During their trials, prosecutors repeatedly show old horrific images of shattered features of Kitty Menendez shattered features of Kitty Menendez while her husband was on a blood soaked sofa after being blasted at close range. Prosecutors would argue the slings were driven by greed and the brothers desire to get their parents multi million dollar estate. But during the trials, Eric and la La Mendez Menendez detailed what they said were years of violent sexual abuse at the hands of their father, which brings me back to my point what they got to do with the mother. See if you had just done that to your dad, and you served nearly thirty five years in prison. Perhaps the argument could be made favorably towards you get now now because he directly abused you to be rhetorical. I ask again, what does that have to do with the mom. I don't get it, y'all. I'm not losing sleep over whatever weighted decision sways or whatever. I'm just saying, I'm not seeing that you reloaded and shot mom. And then you go down the list. Here key events in the timeline of the Menendez brothers. Jose Menendez, an executive at r CIA Records in Los Angeles, and his wife Kitty Menendez, was shot and killed in their Beverly Hills mansion that was in August of nineteen eighty nine. In March of nineteen ninety, La Menandez, then twenty one, is arrested. Eighteen year old Eric Menandas turns himself in a few days later, the accused the first degree murder. July of nineteen ninety three, more than three years later, the Menanda's brothers go on trial, each with a separate jury. Prosecutors argue that they killed their parents for financial gain. The brother's attorneys don't dispute the pair killed their parents, but argue that they acted out of self defense after years of emotional and sexual abuse by their father, again not the mother. In January of nineteen ninety four, both juries deadlocked. October nineteen ninety five, more than a year and a half later, the brothers retrial begins, this time with a single jury. Much of the defense evidence about alleged sexual abuse is excluded during the second trial March of nineteen ninety six. Just about six months later, jurors convict both brothers of first degree murder. July of nineteen ninety six, the brothers are sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. May of two thy and twenty three Fast Forward, attorneys for the Menenda's brothers asked the court to reconsider the conviction and sentence in light of new evidence from a four I'm a member of the boy Bamman Nudo, who said he was raped by Jose Menendez when he was fourteen. In addition, they submit a letter that Eric wrote about his father's abuse prior to the killings September. This past September, Netflix releases the crime drama Monsters The Lala and Eric Menendez Story, a nine episode series about the killings. October twenty twenty four, the DA says his office is reviewing new evidence in a case. October sixteenth, two weeks later, multiple generations of family members from the Menende's brothers hold a news conference pleading for their release from prison. The relatives say the jurors who sentenced them the life without parole in nineteen ninety six were part of a society that was not ready to hear that boys could be raped. And then October twenty fifth Day petitions the court to resentence the brothers, which could lead to their release again their book, currently serving life in prison without parole in California. I go back again. The father, the father, the father, rate rape the father, the father, the father? What about the mother? See that's where they stay in prison. If it were me. The father is one case. How do you explain the mother, especially when you recharge you rearmed and shot her while she crawled on the ground. How do you explain the mother? Meanwhile, Sean Diddy Combs is a waiting word on bail following a third attempt by his lawyers to get him out of ahead of his federal sex trafficking racketeering trial to judge set the deadline of noon Easter for the defense and prosecution the file letters flashing out their argument, initially made last Friday. Prosecutors contend that Combs made a concerted effort for behind bars to disrupt the case. Meanwhile, defense attorney say Combs is not a threat and say he should be really under round the clock surveillance at an apartment on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Here's my thing. The only reason to deny Sean diddy Combe's bail, in my estimation, is if you're fearful of witness tampering. If you're not fearful two things, fearful of witness tampering and fearful of him leaving the country. If those two things can be alleviated as it pertains to a concern, then to me, he should have a good chance of getting bail. See. I think that when you're in prison, you should be in prison. I think that when you are a danger to society, your ass should be locked up and you stay there if there is apprehension, if there's a huge question mark rather as to whether or not that is the case before a conviction, I'm talking about before conviction, now where there's still the presumption of innocence, because this is America, the presumption of innocence before guilt. My attitude is, are those two things of huge concern? If they are, and you think that you have a profounder case against them, which prosecutors obviously do, then this ask gods standia. But if you can take away his means to us leave the country, if you can monitor him in a way where you can police him potentially trying to influence witnesses, if those are concerns that can be alleviated, then the question is how much of a problem should we have with showing Diddy Combs being home until his trial. They're gonna argue he's worth more than a half a billion dollars, he has the means to leave the country, has the means to influence witnesses, and stuff like that, And again nobody's here to argue that. I'm not arguing for the man as if he's innocent as opposed to guilt. I don't know. Only thing I know is that what I saw on that video with him and his ex girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Other than that, I know nothing, But I do think it's worth asking the question, particularly with the paucity of space available in the jail cells, if somebody has guilt has not been established as of yet, do you keep them in jail before a trial? Anyway, I've always had a question mark about that. Now I'm not talking about Sean Diddy Combs right now, I'm talking about in general. I've always had this one issue. If we live in a country that says you're innocent until proven guilty, why are you incarcerated before your guilt has been established, improven and validated? Is it just me? Is that not a fair question? Why are you in jail awaiting trial your innocence having not been substantiated or you're guilt rather but you're behind bars? What am I missing? I'm just asking. I'm just asking. I've always said to myself, if you're innocent, ain't you supposed to be free until you found un guilty? At least in some cases cases evolve in extreme violence and stuff like that. I understand the exception, danger to society, I get that, But I'm just saying, in general, I've always had an issue with somebody being incarcerated before their trials. That's just me, that's it for this edition of The Stephen Nate Smith Show. I got to get on out of here. I hope y'all enjoyed the show. Look forward to talk to y'all in a couple of days. Until next time, everybody, I'm signing off. I'm out of here. I'll speak to you soon. Peace of love, everybody, be safe, God bless you.
