You don't get tired of listening to me. I'm not gonna get how to talking. It's really, really that simple, just as that simple as it goes. By the way, a couple of things you gotta get into today, w NBA, the NBA in terms of coaching highs in the NBA, w NBA, Anglice, Caitlin Clark getting into it. P Diddy and he got himself. And it's another situation that I believe is a bad pr nightmare. I'll explain along with some other stuff to get into. But I'm gonna shock y'all, and I don't want y'all to catch a heart attack. I don't want anybody to catch a heart attack because I'm gonna start off today's show doing that hockey. I'm gonna do that hockey. That's right. I'm gonna steal that line from Chance to Rap on Saturday Night Live. We can. Let's do that hockey, okay. Because the Edmonton Oilers have overcome an O three deficit against the Florida Panthers, there is a Game seven taking place tonight about thirty minutes outside of Miami, Florida. And guess who the hell is gonna be here. It's gonna be me, It's gonna be we gonna do that hockey. We gonna do that hockey. Steven ain't going a damn hockey game, now, you know. I mean, it's not typical you know, game that folks go to. It's a game seven. And I'm not a typical person. And you know, I mean, I mean, I'm a humble man and whatever, and I've been when most people have been. But I ain't got to sit in the stands. I'm gonna being a sweet. I'ma being a sweet. Okay, you're And I got personal indvice from people that matter in the world of hockey, and I'm gonna be at the game to night courtesy of that invite, you know, And so I'm good. I'm good. Now. Usually I don't like Listen, let me be very very clear. We're gonna be honest, because I'm always honest to y'all. I don't lie to y'all. Devin, I don't know anything about hockey other than the puck is black. That's it. Now. I know when they training the puck might be white, because that gotta you gotta focus even more, and they gotta make sure that you know, you can see the puck. I know they got the orange pucks and the blue pucks and some way heavier ounce wise, and others way lighter ounce wise, But damn it, in the National Hockey League when they're playing games that matter, the puck is black that much. I know. I know the Rangers and the Islanders. You know New York City and Long Island respectively. I know the Devil's is in New Jersey. I know the Florida Panthers down here. I know that you know Edmonton Oilers. You know theyre in Canada. I know the Toronto Maple Leaves they in Canada. Tell you understand what I'm saying. I know stuff like that. But to get into the particulars of the sports, shit, hell no, that ain't me. But that don't mean I don't appreciate the sport. Okay, that don't mean I don't appreciate the sport. This brother, Connor McDavid, I've heard about this man. I actually had the pleasure of watching them for a few minutes in Games five and six years even. They saw Games five and sixty something great and then watched the whole game. But I saw I saw them come back from an old three deficit. I know that nobody has done it since nineteen forty five. That's around World War two, time, y'all. I know that, I know that this is epic. And if you're the Florida Panthers and you throw, you blow a three to zero lead, that's very, very bad. I know that much. And I know that when I look at the Edmonton Oilers, you think about one man, and one man above all else when it comes to hockey, you think about this guy, conom McDavid, who they call mcjesus. I got analysts showing up on national TV calling this man mcjesus, mcjesus. Think about that, and I'm like, who the hell is this guy? Who the hell is he think he is? And then I look at these numbers. Six hundred and forty seven assists, ranks number one. This is since joining the league in twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen. Conom McDavid. Six hundred and forty seven assists, that's number one, three hundred and thirty five goals, that's five, ranks fifth, nine hundred and eighty two points scored. That ranks number one as well. Five art Rose trophies led to NHL and scoring. That's what that trophy is for. He's done it five times and Reheart trophies League MVP. So he's a five time scoring champion, he's a three time league MVP, and he's only been around since twenty sixteen. I understand why they call him Jesus. He's that phenomenal, he's that special. But he doesn't have any Stanley Cup titles, and neither has a team from Canada since Gary Betman became commissioner in nineteen ninety three. That's how long it has been. Since twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen. This is what we're talking about, the most watched regular season since then, and the most watched regular season on cable in thirty years in the United States. Fifty eight points six million fans across North America tuned in the NHL games during this past regular season, focusing solely on ESPN networks because you know, they carry the games and what have you. Regular season games average six hundred and sixty six thousand total viewers, up thirteen percent year over year through three rounds of the conference finals. That's through the conference finals. The twenty twenty four Stanley Cup Playoffs the most watched playoffs since nineteen ninety six across the United States of America. That's what we're talking about here, and so when I look at all of this and I see that the NHL is in this position, I gotta get props with propters due to Gary Bedman. I gotta get props with propters due to the players. I mean, these brothers show up. You don't hear about no load management with hockey. You don't hear about brothers taking games off. Ice skating's virtually impossible. I can't go two inches in ice skates. I'm my daughter. My youngest daughter's fifteen years old. The hardest I ever heard her laugh in my life was when she asked me to show up to the rink in Chelsea p in New York City because they had a class, you know, class trip or whatever, and somehow, some way they got the daddies to show up in ice skates and show up on ice skates, ladies and gentlemen. I had sixty and seventy year olds trying to help me up. I kept busting my ass. You ever saw the episode of Ralph Kramden and the Honeymooners when he tried to roller skate and he kept busting his ass, Well, that was me on ice skates. I've never done it before, and I'll never do it again. It was pretty bad. It was very, very bad. And my daughter's still here laughing at me, and that was damn there eight years ago. So I'm just letting y'all know right now, anybody that could skate, particularly as exceptional as hockey players can do it. I got nothing but admiration for them. But we should be admiring this sport because it's just growing and growing with popularity. It's an international sports with an international flavor and flair that Americans are gravitating to more and more and more. Baseball's up in the ratings too, obviously. The National Football League is up in the ratings. Okay, I'll get the numbers for you on the NBA because I don't have them available to me right now because I want to be totally accurate. But hockey is climbing. Let's give love what lover is doing. In terms of tonight. I'm gonna say this to you. When I hear all the things that I've heard about McDavid, it's impossible to root against them. But I think the Florida Panthers are gonna win. I think they're gonna survive despite losing a three to zero league and allowing this series. To get tied and to have a Game seven forced, I think the Florida Panthers are gonna find a way to pull it out. Now, that's just me totally guessing. Yes, I've been wrong on basketball, but I've been right on basketball far more than i've been wrong. I've been right about football far more than I've been wrong. Same thing with baseball. I don't know shit about hockey nothing, but I know I respect the hell out of these players, and I know that Game sevens are Game sevens. I don't give a damn who you are when you hear game seven. Baby, that's what it's all about. And I'm looking forward to watching this tonight's game in person, live right there. I will be there. Stephen, They doing that, Huck Steven, They doing that, Huck. Now, let me move on to some basketball. That's my wheelhouse. JJ Reddick is the new head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, introduced today by the Los Angeles Lakers. There's a lot of people to talk and junk down. Know what the hell they're talking about. They acting like people got a problem with JJ Reddick getting the job. No, we don't, JJ Reddick. There's plenty of coaches that have gotten jobs didn't have any specific coaching experience before they landed those jobs. Doc Rivers was one of them. Mark Jackson was another. Steve Nash damn sure wasn't a head coach he got the job. There have been other folks. JJ Reddick is a brilliant basketball mind, and he's somebody that contributed to My day job on First Take and other shows, and he did a fabulous job for us. Nothing but respect for him, wishing him nothing but the best. The challenge for him is gonna be personality wise, being able to lead those guys, young dudes who may be hardheaded, and I want to listen, JJ will get in your face. JJ will tell you exactly how he feels. JJ will do so fearlessly. All of that is true. Here's what they don't say about JJ Reddick. He's actually a very fair minded guy. He's a very fair minded guy. He's very thoughtful, and he can feel the way that he feels, and he will call bullshit in a heartbeat, no question, and he's somebody that will earn your respect because when you're talking to him, you're gonna know you're talking to somebody that knows what the hell he's talking about now. Whether that leads to him being more successful than Frank Vogel, more successful than Darvinham, remains to be seen. What I will say is that the problem isn't with JJ Reddick. He's gonna look the part good looking dude dress shop. I mean, I think he could bring his pants just a little bit Lowes style, wearing higher than the then high high waters that are showing his damn ankle boone and stuff like that. That's just my personal opinion. He knows I tease him about his style sometimes. But the bottom line, in all seriousness, I'm rooting for him, and I really really hope that he does well. Having said all of that, what about the Lakers, Because here's the reality. If you're the Los Angeles Lakers. Darvin Ham went to the Western Conference Finals his first year and loss got swept by their ultimate champions, Denver Nuggets. The very next year, they are reigning defending champions and they take the Lakers out in five games. Okay, we understand. So he's gone well before Darvin hanm Frank Vogel won the title, and it wasn't like Frank Vogel was clamoring for Lebron James and Anthony Davis and those boys to feel good about Alex Caruso walking out the door, Kentavious Carwell, Pope walking out the door. But in the end it had to happen, and their replacements didn't really do much, And so you have a situation where ultimately you weren't able to enjoy the same level of success. And then low and behold, Frank Vogel gone. So you got somebody that delivered the championship for you, he's going inside of three years. You got another guy that takes you to the Western Conference finals, he's going inside of two years. Well, what the hell is going to be the litmus test that judges the job and the quality of the job that JJ Reddick does. What if JJ Reddick develops all the young players? What if all of these guys. What if Austin Reeves gets better? What if D'Angelo Russell shows that he has a pulse on a back to back night. What about some of the other guys that are relatively young. If you ended up really really coaching them to get better, is that gonna be good enough? Or is Jeanie bust and roberlinco Is gonna say, hey, you didn't get to the conference finals, you didn't get to the NBA finals, We need to find another coach. It's going to be an interesting question. It's gonna be an interesting question. It's gonna be interesting to see. And if JJ Reddick ends up getting a lot more latitude, well why was he given more latitude than Darvin Ham? Why was he giving more latitude than a guy that delivered a championship like Frank Vogel. These are the questions that are gonna be asked. All of those are fair questions, just not for JJ Reddick. It's not his problem. If you are Lebron James, my brother, I think you should prepare yourself a far more scrutiny than that. If two coaches are going inside of three years, well, Lebron James, what does that say about you as the facing the leader of the franchise. I'm not accusing of anything. I'm just asking the question. If you're gonna be a skeptic, you're gonna ask those kind of questions, what about you? You know they could have had Tyler didn't want to pay him enough, plus wanted to pick his staff. You could have have Monty Williams, which you turned him off, and he ended up going to Phoenix and ultimately guiding them to an NBA Finals appearance before a few years later he moved on and went to Detroit and now he's out in Detroit, which is a blessing by the way, not a curse. But if you're Lebron James, you got to answer those questions because how many coaches are the Lakers going to employ? And how long do you think stupidly or foolishly or you must think we're fools, Like Lebron has nothing to do with any of this. He wants another thing to do with this, just because he doesn't take calls when coaching Kennedy's want to talk to him, or he is in Ingenie Buss and Rob On Lincoln's face talking to them about ear. Don't tell me that Lebron James has absolutely positively nothing when any of the changes that have taken place in Los Angeles, just like Anthony Davis didn't have anything. So when Anthony Davis goes into a press conference after losing Game two to the different Nuggets in a Western Conference first round series and he says there says we're a bit discompopulated and out of sink and out of wank or whatever verbia you used. Absolutely positively no effect with Darvin Ham being fired. Huh dyro. Maybe it didn't because maybe it was already a foegone conclusion and maybe Anthony Davis didn't know that, which is why he felt free to say what he said. Because I got news for you. Search high and low. Over the career of Anthony Davis, he never talked about a coach in that manner. Ever, it never happened. That's not who he is. So again, not condemning him either, But these are questions that are legitimate that deserve to be asked, period. So again, JJ Reddick's got his work cut out for but he ain't the only one. Rob a Linka. How about keeping a coach for more than two seasons? Genie buzz? How many coaches you want to pay at the same time? These are questions, These are questions, and we simply can't get away that. We can't get around that. Okay, we just can't. By the way, let me move on real quick and take congratulations to Warriors. Go to SAT Warrior's assistant Kenny Atkinson, former head coach in Brooklyn for four years had like a one to eighteen ninety record one about thirty eight percent of his games. So he probably thought he was never going to be a head coach. Again, Well, the Cleveland Cavaliers have offered him the head coaching job. And so because they've offered him the head coaching job and he's the one that's being hired, well, he was with Steve Kerr. He knows what a championship culture looks like. He knows what's required and what it's going to take. But here's the reality, he should have never been going from Brooklyn. If you're gonna lose Kenny Atkinson, you don't lose Kenny Akinson, a higher guy than Steve Nash that never coached the day in his life on any level. You don't do that. But that's what the Brooklyn Nets did. That's what they did. And one could easily say chickens came home to roost. You get what you pay for. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irvin. They didn't mind a rookie coach coaching them because they didn't want to be coached. They just wanted to do what the hell they wanted to do at the time. I understand that Kyrie's made a turn for the better. Not trying to knock him at all. KD is still KD is a superstar in this league, is undeniable. But here's the reality. If they wanted Akins in this day, he'd still be there. If they didn't want Steve Nash Warrington's serious consideration for the Brooklyn Next job at the time, they wouldn't, he would not have been there. KD and Kyrie were running the show period, and what happened was a byproduct of them doing that. Very very simple nowhere around it. So again, congrats to Kenny Atkinson for getting that second chance. I'm happy for him. Having said all of that, I do notice JJ reddick Kenny Atkinson. Okay, I'm not one of those guys that believe every coach in the league is supposed to be black. Just make sure the numbers are representative of black folks contribution to the game. Sam Cassell has been an assistant coach for fifteen years. Fifteen years. At some point is anybody gonna give him a chance? It's two time champion as a player played for the Milwaukee Bucks, going to going to Conference finals against Philadelphia in two thousand and one. Alan Dobinson and crew when he had Ray Allen and Big Dog Glenn Robinson as a teammate. Won two titles with Houston in the mid nineties. But I remember correctly who's on Doc Rivers' staff. Last year in Philly, he goes to Boston, they win the title. I'm always gonna bring up my man Phil Handy, who's one of the great player development coaches in the game, that the Lakers just let go for some inexplicable reason, Not so much the Lakers, but of a Lebron James letting him go. How about that one. So there's a lot to think about, there's a lot to contemplate, there's a lot to discuss, and we can definitely do that. But again, congratulations to JJ Reddick. More so to a lesser degree, Kenny Atkinson not ruined against you at all. Wish you nothing but the best. But JJ Reddick is the big hire and you're Donna's has them. Member of the Miami Heat organization. Former player for the Miami Heat for twenty years. I believe said it best when he said, when JJ is talking inside that locker room or those players gonna listen to him, or those players gonna be about the business of saying, yo, who are we really listening to? JJ Redicker. Lebron James, after all, is great of a player as Lebron James is. There's nothing that he's greater at. One would argue than dictating narratives. I would tell you his player is actually greater than dictating narratives. But there are people who have made the hyperbolic state hyperbolic statements about him. Along those lines, we shall see. Things are interesting in Southern California, no doubt about that. Everyone knows I live and breathe sports and that I have to be part of all the big games. But how do I do that? Exactly? I use Prospects, of course, the largest fantasy sports platform and all of the land, with over three million members. Or you do is select to or more players from your favorite sport the WNBA, MLB, tennis, golf, even boxing a right, and then choose more or less on their projected in game stats. And not only feels my need for the big time action, but it's incredibly easy to play. It takes just sixty seconds to make your picks. So if you're like me and know everything in the world, of sports and pick correctly. You'll have a chance to win some major major league money. And get this, Prospects will match your first depositive up to one hundred dollars. That's right. Go to prospects dot com and use code sas for a first depositive match of up to one hundred dollars. You heard me, that is code sas when you go to prospects dot com. Pickball, pick less. It's really really that easy. Did y'all see yesterday's game? Did you see yesterday's game? I'm talking to WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago s Guy, did you see that game? Did you see Andrew Rees in Chicago down fifteen points? Did you see Caitlin Clark pulling up from all over the damn place or throwing incredible bounce passes that are eMates couldn't convert to a damn layup? To just see Andrew Reese bring Chicago back from a fifteen point deficit and ultimately beat the Indiana Fever the way they did last night one point. Oh my goodness, it was special. And you saw that crowd there, it was something special. You saw the numbers, You see the numbers right there, twenty five points, eight to twelve suit and sixteen rebounds, one assist. Did you know that right now, aur Rees is averaging thirteen points in eleven rebounds. Do you know that she's had eight straight double doubles. Do you know that at this moment in time, she ranks number two in the league? Number two. She's a rookie. She's a rookie number two in the league at eleven point one rebounds per game, second only to Asia Wilson for the Aces at eleven point six. That's who we're talking about when we're talking about Ada Rees. This is Angel Reese. I'm a dog. You can't teach that. I'm gonna go out and do whatever it takes to win every single night. My teammates relying on my energy, So being able to continue the energy even if we're down, even if we're up, That's what I do. She's got eight straight double doubles, y'all. That's a WNBA rookie record. She's second in the league in rebounding as a rookie. I mean, I don't know what else to say now. Caitlyn Clark ranks fourth in the league and assists for six point six. She's the number one overall pick who's on base to become the first w NBA rookie ever to average fifteen points five rebounds fiveth sist. I get all of that, but I bring all of this subject up because for two reasons. Number one, I want to give major, major props to Angelies because she did exactly what I suggested. Remember when y'all heard me talking weeks ago, and I said, listen, when you sit up there, you look at Caitlyn Clark as the cash cow. Don't hate appreciate, Sit up there, compete with her, get in a face, talk trash, do whatever you gotta do. Let her beat her. Why because if you know how to capitalize off of it, you too are going to become a household name. And what has Angel Reese done, Ladies and gentlemen. Angel Reese can ball, she can really play, and she's just a rookie. She's going to have an impact for years to come in the WNBA. Let me ask y'all this question, who the hell is Angrel Reese? If Angel Reese doesn't wave her hand in her face like this, mocking Caitlyn Clark. And what Caitlyn Clark did to competition in the NC Doublea's a couple of years ago when LSU ultimately ended up winning the national title, when Adur Reese went up against Caitlin Clark and LSU shut him down and then beat him down, and Angrel Reese was mocking her what she did to other opponents, saying that shit ain't happening here. That's what made are Reese a household name. Now, don't get me wrong, he ain backs it up, so that certainly helps. But it ain't like it's two shooting guards going against one another, two point guards going on against one another, or two centers or forwards going up had to head it at similar positions against one another. No, Caitlyn Clark's a god. She's the Steph Curry of women's basketball as far as I'm concerned, and Angel Reese is a foward. But the reason why it's a rival, it's not because of basketball. It's because angrew Reese is willing to chirp and talk that trash and then go on to court and back it up and mock Caitlin Clark the second she gets a chance, with no apologetic compunction whatsoever. And you know what it's got us doing watching Angel Reese watching her team in Chicago. You saw that crowd yesterday. I'm telling y'all right now, pay attention. Especially if Andrew Reese is one of those people. They ain't gonna have a problem being the bad girl, being the one that agitates and irritates people, being seen as a pariah in some people's eyes. No matter what tears you saw when she lost in the Elite eight, no matter how you saw her phase by losing out to Caitlin Clark in Iowa, no matter what you saw, the bottom line is this, Angel Reese is a strong black woman. She don't mind being the bad girl if that's gonna help her team win, and she can throw it in Caitlyn Clark's face, she gonna do it. And you know what's gonna happen. They're gonna market the hell out of her because of it. You see what I mean by using the cash cow to your own advantage instead of lamenting it, appreciate it, and get paid off of it. That's what Angel Reese is doing. Because we are taking notice. Jersey's being sold another paraphernalia. Bet you she stopped five. Of course she is. By the way, my cold Dolans is Cameron Brink toy I think it's toy acl or something like that for the Los Angeles Sparks. All the best to you, Cameron Brink, wishing you nothing but the best. Jimmy Butler, Man, you went out there to visit and then all of a sudden she got hurt. I'm only playing. I'm only playing bro not joking about her injury at all. Just teasing Jimmy Butler a little bit, that's my man. But nothing but the best of Cameron Brink, wishing her nothing but the best. By the bright future, get yourself back healthy, get back on that basketball court and reap the benefits of Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese and anything else that comes along with the w NBA. What's up next on the dock is when Caitlyn Clark goes to Phoenix and goes up against Diana Tarossi, cause we know what Tarrossi had to say about her coming into the league months ago when she was on Sports Center. Was Scott Van Pelt there's levels to this and Kaitlyn Clark come into town, so we gonna find out. It's gonna be real interesting to see how that unfolds. I'm paying attention to it. I can tell you that much. But that was one thing I want to bring up, the Angel Reese factor and the Angel Reeves component. Here's the other thing I wanted to touch on. Who's your rookie of the year. I already told you. Caitlin Clark is averaging fifteen five and five. No rookie he's ever done that in the WNBA. Six point six assists game ranks fourth in the w NBA. Her stats on the season sixteen point three points, forty percent shooting from the field, thirty five percent shooting from three point range, eighty nine percent for the free throw line, five point four rebounds. I get that. And obviously being in the eye of storm, being the number one overall pick with everybody targeting you, it's one of those situations where, Yo, Caitlyn Clark is getting it thrown at her. Okay, how can she handle it? How you handle it? Says a lot about hers. So she's right up there, and I give her credit for that. But the ladies Monica McNutt and the China Robinson comes on the air as an analysts today and they educate me about how much not much was expected from Chicago this year, and look at what Andrew Reese has done to assist in turning that around. Whereas with Kaitlyn Clark, Indiana was knocking on the door last year because so many the law were closed games and they were supposed to expect they were expected to get over the hump this year, but they started out too and nine before winning six of their last ten games. So it's gonna be really interesting to see how things unfold as the as the season progresses. Both of them had long NCUBA seasons. They finished the year a month earlier in April. In May the w NBA they had WNBA career start. These ladies have had no break and they out there performing like this. I give mad lover and respect to them, I really really do. I think they've been very, very impressive and they deserve a lot of credit, and I'm happy for both of them. In the first eleven games, Kaitlyn Clark was two and nine record fifteen point six points, thirty percent shooting thirty percent from three point range. Over the last seven games, she's got a five to two record, seventeen point three points game, forty eight percent shooting from the field. That's a twelve percent spike and a fourteen percent spike on threes from thirty percent to forty four percent. That's Kitlyn Clark Angel Reaves first nine games eleven and four thirty three percent shooting from the field, nine point two rebounds per game. Over the last six games, Angel Reaes is scoring fifteen point eight points a game on fifty one percent shooting and grabbing fourteen rebounds per game. This Rookie of the Year race is nip and tuck between Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese. And if anybody would say that, as of right now, I'm picking Angel Rees to be my Rookie of the Year. I can't knock you. I can't knock you. Hikari Richardson one hundred meter had girl smoked him yesterday. We know she has some issues in the past, We get all of that. But this girl is special. Got improved just to touch on her starts, no doubt about it. Gotta stay focused, stay out of trouble, no distractions, Just go out there and do what you do when she is special. Mister twenty twenty Olympics after testing positive for THC. We know that, but Shikari Richardson is special and please don't miss the Olympics this time. We need you. You special. Go out there and do what you do and handle your business. Four years you waited for this, four years you waited for this opportunity. Go out there and show them what you know. Girl. That's how you see. Prize Pects is the largest fantasy sports platform in all the land and three million members and letna say that again, three million, right. And your boy guess what, he'll be in the house. That's right, your boy Stephen's gonna be in the house. So I'm gonna make my predictions on the game right now. Prospects won't even let me pick less on any of these, so you can join me and picking more more more, So, let's go get it all right. For the Oilers, conom McDavid a half a goal? Are you kidding me? This Comic David we're talking about. This is Comma mcjesus. That's what they call him. What is there to talk about? All right? And by the way, over the last ten or over the last ten periods, they've outscored the Panthers twenty to five. And you look at what Conomic Jesus has been doing. Half a goal? Please, of course that's more. We know this. For the Panthers, Vladimir Tarasenko one and a half shots on goal. I'm gonna go with more. I'm doing the hockey. I'm doing that hockey. I'm doing that hockey. That's right, Stephen. They doing that hockey, all right. Listen, chance you ain't got nothing on me, even though you didn't because you were hillaryous so Saturday, they're not lived when you was talking about some hockey. But I get where you're coming from. That's why we're doing that hockey right now, right, Yes, we're gonna go with more with Tersenko all right for the oilers, Warren Fogel half a point zero point five points. I told you we were gonna go for more. I told you that's what Prospects was doing today. That's what we're gonna do today. Okay, I'm going more on all three, So feel free to join me on these prospects before the puck drops on Game seven, eight pm East and Standard time, don't you miss it. Welcome back to Steven Nate Spishow right here over the digital airwaves of YouTube. Look going to transition to pop culture and entertainment, even though the word entertainment isn't really applicable here because the subject involves showan p Diddy Khones making news. Yet again, as far as I'm concerned, for all the wrong reasons. Now we know what he made the news for over the last several weeks, because no matter how much of a fan of his work, as I have been throughout the years, it's pretty impossible to come remotely close to okaying or off setting the egregious acts that were caught on video involving him. But he's making news yet again in an indirect manner over the same incident. As far as I'm concerned, and it's not foolish. Before I get into anything, let's remind our audience of what got Shawn P. P Diddy Cohones in the hot water. I'm not talking about Homeland Security raiding his homes in Miami and Los Angeles. I'm not talking about accusations because until further proof comes forward, they did nothing but accusations. I'm not talking about them even handcuffing his sons and all of this other stuff. Not talk about that. I'm talking about what we all saw on video. Take a look at this again.
It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life.
Sometimes you gotta do that. I was fucked up.
I mean, I had robbed bottom, But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. Disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now. I went and I saw that professional help. Now to go into therapy and going to rehab, had to asked God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry, but I'm committed to be a better mansion every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness.
I'm truly sorry. Make of that video what you will. You saw his actions, saw how egregious they were. You saw his apology. Some people thought it was since some people thought it was bullshit. Doesn't really matter. What's done is done, and he's got to live with those actions for the rest of his life. Fortunate for him that particular incident there, you know, there's an expiration on that in terms of whether or not he could be prosecuted for that according to La County, which is where it happened. But here's where it gets. I don't want to use the word tricky or whatever, but one would argue foolish on the part of Shoan P. Didd coms, my man, you deleted all the videos from your Instagram account, including that one I just showed. If you had a million photos, If you had a million videos and you decided to delete nine hundred and ninety nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine hundred, that's the one you should have kept up. If you're sincere. You got nearly twenty million followers on Instagram, twenty million, nearly twenty million, and I know that you've been taking a lot of hits and there's been shrapnails of criticism all over the place aimed in your direction. Not that it wasn't deserved, but that doesn't mean that there's what so much one human being could take, although one could argue the X that you hit had to deal with a hell of a lot more than you had to deal with in terms of the criticism, But I digress. My only point for bringing up this subject on this particular day is because Diddy, why'd you delete that video of the apology? To delete all of them, delete everything else? Not that don't you want people to know that you will contricte that you were incredibly sorry, that you have profound regret for the egregious actions that you were caught on camera committing. By deleting the video, you throw all of that out the window. The possibility of the very few people who would ever believe that, really having a believe a reason to continue to believe you. Why would you delete? Who are your pr people? I mean, who are these people? Where? Where is the counsel? Where is the advice? Because had that been me, I'd have said, never delete your account and never delete that video. Leave that up forever, because that was you apologizing and owning up to your transgression. A video that you know everybody else has. I know you say everybody else got it. Everybody got it because I already said it, I already put it out there. But you deleting it from your account. That wasn't smart. That that wasn't smart, especially once most of the world got access to it. Anyway, it comes across as you wanted to erase everything as opposed to wanting to be accountable for everything. I might have to look up who your publicist is. I won't to know who this person is, because if they giving you advice and you're listening, it ain't good advice unless you're not listening at all and you're just impulsively acting out, which one could easy easily argue is what got you in trouble to begin with I'm just saying, and I'm saying, I'm not judging people, I'm judging actions. I'm just saying, damn, don't delete that video, not that one. Back with more to Steven A. Smith Show, Ryan Garcia, President Biden and Trump, all that the more up next to close out the show, You're watching Steven Eightsmith Show over the Digital air with YouTube and listening right here on iHeart Radio. Welcome back right here to the Steven Ate Smith Show Over to Digital was with YouTube. I got a few items that I want to get to before I get on out of here this afternoon. I gotta confess. Ryan Garcia is starting to get on my damn nerves. Now I've interviewed this man twice. This man is a former champion. Okay, I think elite, I think ultra talented. We saw him beat up Devin Hatey a couple of months ago before we learned that he was using performance enhancing drugs. Now he came into the fight overweight. Prior to that being overweight was determined, he had a handshake agreement with Devin Haity to give him five hundred thousand dollars for every pound that he was overweight. He came in three pounds overweight, owing Devin Haity one point five million dollars paid Devin Hany one point five million promptly beat his ass because he did. And I really thought it was unfair that Devin Haty once the news came out, or even before the news came out about potential performance enhancing drug use, testing positive for a banned substance, because for me, three pounds is a huge difference. And to have to come in and to be allowed to come in three pounds overweight and to be ineligible to actually fight for a belt, but you still had the fight that night. I think that put Devin Haty in a bad spot. Devin Haity was the champion, he was undefeated at thirty and oh he was unblemished. As far as I'm concerned, he should have never went into that ring. He should have never given Ryan Garcia the time of day. If Ryan Garcia could not could not honor his commitment to the profession by making sure you met the weight clause and you showed up the way that you were supposed to show up. Now, to me, Ryan Garcia is messed up in the head right now, and I'm gonna tell you why in just a second. And I'm not saying this to insult him. I'm not saying him to criticize him. I'm saying it because I'm concerned about him, and I'm gonna tell you why in a minute. But here is what we need to understand. A second test was given. It came back that Ryan Garcia, who actually actually appealed the decision, came back that indeed he had tested positive for the banned substance. As a result, the New York State Boxing Commission has suspended him for a year, has had him paid back about one point two million of his earnings, plus they fined him ten thousand plus. The fight against Devin Haney has been ruled a no contest, and so because of that, Devin Haney is still undefeated. And I know he's feeling good about it. But we saw what we saw, and we saw you get dropped three times, and so we're looking at it from that standpoint, and you just can't get around that he should have never fought him if the man wasn't willing to honor his commitment. But before I go any step further, let me show you why I'm very, very concerned about Ryan Garcia. This is him at a poker tournament, y'all with Miami. Heats Jimmy Butler along with various other people. Just take a look at how he sounds and how he is acting. Watch this er. Is he gonna chug that whole thing? All right? All right? Nothing but three hours? That's beautiful. A diamond would be insane. I'm I'm differing him. That's tell me how you're feeling at this table. It feels great.
I love Jesus, and uh, I'm feeling great falling off. I'm happy the money went to you because you have a lot of girls and I do too.
Like this, Oh, just like it. Let's talk about Devin Ahani. What are your thoughts on him? He slebbered d did he He had massive sex with him? Then I beat his ass and he sues me. So you love Jesus, but you have massive girls. You're gyrating in front of the camera, and then you either lie on or dime out another dude's sexual activity because he sued you because drug tests revealed you cheated. After you refuse to honor your commitment to a title fight by coming and overweight on purpose and not giving the damn about any rules of regulations make sense of that, y'all can take y'all time. I wait, but it's not necessary. Let me tell you what's really going on with Ryan Garcia. Ryan Garcia hasn't gotten over the fact that he got beat by Javonte Davis. Personally, if Ryan Garcia appeared to have his head on straight, I would love to see him in the ring with Javonte Davis. Again. I got no issues with that. Ryan Garcia is a spectacular boxing talent. And for those trolls out there, they were talking about, oh my goodness, look at Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler for the Miami Heat looking like he wanted to slap the living hell out of him or whatever. Well he might have wanted to mad Love for the rough Rider. It is Jimmy Butler. But Jimmy Butler is a basketball player, not a boxer. We've seen what happened when basketball players have gotten into the ring against boxers. I ain't bringing up no names, but we've seen what happened. Let's understand that when we're talking about this and we're talking about Ryan Garcia, Look man, look at how you acting. Now. He got dropped in the second round against Javonte Davis before getting stopped at like the sixth round off of a body shot, and it seems to be something he hasn't gotten over. And immediate after math of that, you complain about your training, You complain about your team, the Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar de la Hoya and all of these cats. You seem a bit off kilter. You out of the game for a little bit. You come back, you fight somebody else, You look good. Then you fight Devin Hainey, you get him to commit to a fight against you. Y'all popping shit to each other. You acting while during promotions. We all bought into it because damn it made us look interesting to the look at the fight with interest. But then, not only do you come in overweight by three pounds, as Sean Porter and Clarisia Shields pointed out, doing an excellent job in there pre fighting post fight commentary, but you have no regard for the rules and the regulations. I'm not a boxer. They are, they said, flat out. Three pounds overweight is a significant thing. Why is that such an issue, y'all? Why is that so very important? Because Ryan Garcia had a weight clause against Javonte Davis, and it wasn't his name that was the marquis, It was Javonte Davis. It was Tank Davis's name. So you had to meet a certain weight and a certain hydration clause, which means I only had to meet that weightful weigh in, but then you couldn't turn around over the next twenty four hours and gained as much pounds as you wanted to for fight night. That contributed to his attitude going into the fight against Devin Hainy and the fact that he was taking criticism for losing to Tank Davis. His whole shit is to win no matter what. That's the reason all of this is going on. Who ran up to jumped on the ring apron after Javonte Davis knocked out Frank Martin Saturday last Saturday Night? Who did that? Nine days ago? Who did that? That was Ryan Garcia hugging and talking and laughing with Javonte Davis and then on the back of the shirt calling for a rematch. Well, watch, did Davonte Davis ever want to get in the ring with Ryan Garcia again? He don't need he don't need Ryan Garcia. He already beat him. Now what I like to see a rematch with Ryan Garcia if his head is on straight and he's acting right, and he's willing to show the necessary discipline. The honor the sport, the way that's supposed to the sport is supposed to be honored. Sure, that left hook his vicious. The quickness in that left hook is spectacular. The right hand is no joke either. But you can't act like this. I respect Ryan Garcia so much and I genuinely like him. I've interviewed him a couple of times. I root for him in the whole bit. You can't do this shit got to I mean, you're embarrassing yourself. You're making yourself look like you're not all there, and we don't want excuses when you fight in next time. If the way clause is what it is, you step in the ring, bamit. That's the way clause. Get your Vonte to fight you at one forty oh. I forgot. You can't give him to do a damn thing because you ain't the marquee he is. Javonte Davis is arguably the best on the planet. He's clearly the biggest box office attraction in the sport as far as I'm concerned. He don't have to do anything, but maybe, just maybe if you follow rules of regulations and you won, and you went and took Devin Haines's title at the one hundred and forty pound weight class and you weren't acting all crazy, maybe we would be in the midst of a rematch between you and Javonte Davis right now. Since it was really a body shot to deliver that took you out, can happen to anybody. It wasn't like he beats you up. It wasn't like he slapped you around the way he did Frank Martin. He just caught you with a nice body shot. But with all of this stuff you doing wrong, go see it makes no sense. It makes no sense. And now you can't fight in New York State Athletic Commission. I don't know what other governing bodies in other states may do. What you're gonna end up doing wanting to go to Soady Arabia to fight. I mean, come on, man, come on. Lo Minchenko's in there. Of course, Stevenson is in there. See your Femo Lopez is in there. Javonte Davis might stay at one day fight, he might move up come on, here's a lot of compelling fights. What's up? And if you get so cocked, de's when you get so big? Well, guess what? Just move up to the wealth toweight division at one forty seven. Terrence Croff is waiting, he waiting. Eric Spencer is still around. How about boots in us? We gonna stop talking about boxing and not mentioning boots in this. Giraon boots in this we gonna say the brother undefeated, mind you, and a knockout artist in his own right. I'm trying to figure out watch Tennis Crawford hasn't fought that one that fight. What are we doing here? There's a lot of fights, Ryan Garcia, you ain't got to sit up there and come and overwait to fight a smaller dude when you can gain your weight and fight somebody your own size at the walterweight division, what's up? Rather than acting all crazy and making news because of that. As far as Devin Haty, my brother, I wish you nothing but the best. Do I think you would lose to Javonte Davis. I think Javonte Davis would knock you out. I'm not rooting for it. I like Devin Haty, But I just think that's what's gonna happen boxing. Just analyzing it. I only got one frustration with Devin Haity. On one frustration only, he should have never allowed Ryan Garcia to step into that ring against him without honoring the clauses in the contract. The championship is for one point. You have to meet that weight period. You want this title shot, you want this belt, these are the conditions. That's what he should have done. Devin Haney allowing Ryan Garcia to buck the system and do whatever the hell he wants, acting the way that he was acting leading up to the press leading up to the fight, coming in overweight. Devin Hainity was a champion that didn't act like a champion. He was a champion acting like the challenger. He was a champion acting like he was the one starving for the fight, when it was Ryan Garcia who should have been starving for the fight because he didn't have the belt Devin Haney did. I'm not throwing no shade on any INDI visual person. I'm only talking about their actions. Ryan Garcia acting crazy and not following rules and regulations, and Devin Hatey allowed him to get away with it the brilliant one, and all of this has been Javonte Davis taking care of anybody that's standing in this path while also making them capitulate to his rules and his vision. If you want him in the ring against you, that's a champion, and he's showing it. Transition into the world of politics real quickly. All I want to say is this, I've lamented the fact that we have the two candidates that we have for president of the United States, one candidate who is seven years is seventy eight years of age, who's been impeached twice, who's now a convicted felon, who's been talking about every time something doesn't go as ways, something's rigged. I just think our country doesn't need that problem. But we also don't need a sooner be eighty two year old that clearly looks like he's lost a step giving us four more years. Nobody's trying to sit up there and say that Biden has done an awful job or anything like that. That's for y'all to discuss. Hell, somebody can say he did a great job. You find somebody to use the same set of facts and say he's awful. I'm tired of that argument, I got better things to do with my life. But what I will say is that when somebody's eighty two years of age, they're usually looking to slow down and enjoy the rest of the years, not take on responsibilities for the most arduous job in the land. And that's what Joe Biden is doing. With that being said, those are our two candidates, barring any unforeseen circumstances. And the one thing that I does have me excited is this debate coming up Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia. I'm excited about that because Trump hasn't sounded as coherent as lucid as people try to give him credit for us some of the time. And we all know everybody's gotten on Biden for the same thing. Who's gonna be the sharpest one, who's gonna be on their p's and q's, who's gonna have their facts in order, Who's gonna be on their game? What are we going to see Thursday night in Atlanta, Georgia. President Biden didn't have to take this debate this early. You know, he could have waited. He's the incompany everything to lose, very little to gain. He took it anyway. Major props to the President of the United States, major props in the case of Trump. Trump ain't playing either, convicted fella, So what twice in peach? So what give a dead bump, y'all. I'm still gonna be the GOP nominee, just like I'm in the presumptive GOP nominee. Now, I ain't doing no time in jail. A he's sentence to me to jail. They know it will be mayhem in this country. That's how he thinking. That's how he's thinking. So what I've been clamoring for is beat the man. Let's find out who that is. Thursday night is game one. There's gonna be at least two debates, possibly three, but game one is Thursday night in Atlanta, Georgia. A black mosaic in some people's eyes, black haven this man Trump and going around talking to black people. Yo, I'm a better option in this Democrat or any of the Democrats. Let's find out Saturday on Thursday night. You damn sure, No, I don't believe it, but I'll be damn if I'm not watching. I can't wait for this debate. I got to see this for myself, and so should the rest of y'all, no crowd and MIC's are gonna be turned off when the other is talking, because Trump interrupted body so much in twenty twenty during their couple of debates, Trump in front of a crowd, to me, that's a landslide for him. Trump without the crowd to lean on, and with a mic that's muzzled and silenced while Biden is talking, that's gonna be very interesting. As a person who communicates over the microphone for a living, I'm telling you right now, it's a tougher challenge when there is no audience and your mic is silenced while the other person is talking. Because when it's your turn, everything you say must be substantive. You don't get to mumble, you don't get to deflect, you don't get to evade without it being conspicuously noticed. So that's very important. Who's going to thrive under those circumstances. It'll tell us a lot, it really will. And I can't wait. I'll be right in front of that damn television set Thursday. Now. You've bet the house on that it shows shit. Every American citizen, this should be tens of millions of people watching this debate Thursday night, don't miss it. Don't miss it. I'm gonna keep saying that until Thursday arrives. Don't miss it. I just wanted to say that transition into the world of pop culture and entertainment. I don't know if y'all saw this vision Travis Kelsey. You know, Taylor Swift is on her errands tour and making billions, deservedly so, because I saw her concert. I saw that ever's tour. I went twice spectacular, spectacular. She turned that shit out. It's one of the best concerts I ever saw in my life. She deserved all the height for that. My man, Travis Kelsey, my brother from another mother, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, three times Super Bowl champion by the way, that's his lady these days, and he showed up at her concert. I don't know. I couldn't hear the sound, wasn't listening to it and all this other stuff. I'm happy to see he's happy. I'm happy to see that they still are together and kicking it or whatever. Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine. I just wonder it's one thing to comment about it because it's an news so that's why I'm coming about it. But I must tell you, I don't really care. I could give two cents about Travis Kelsey's love life. I could give two cents about Tiller Swift's love life. This is the thing that amazes me about folks that are so enthralled. And I understand she got the swifties and all of that. I'm not talking about little girls who love her. My two daughters love her. I got that part. This is what drives me crazy. You got grown adults all trying to be all in their business. Like if you had your brothers and they were hooking up with each other, you could stand there and watch. That's how desperate some of y'all are. Tiller Swift is a grown ass woman. Travis Kelsey's a grown ass man. Did you think they were virgins? You didn't think they were getting loose with somebody? I can as shoot you. Travis Kelsey was getting loose. I think the only thing up there with his Super Bowl rings are the choices this brother has made spectacular. Anybody that knows me knows exactly who I'm talking about. Travis Kelcey, that brother, His choices are impecable. I'm talking about before Teller Swift, Marveless I'm shaking marveless for fact spectacular. Okay, what do you think he was doing? Watching movies? Sitting there, singing hymns and stuff like that. You think he wasn't doing something? Where was the interest? Then you think Taylor Swift was at home with her mom, laying on the couch, eat and chocolate chip cookies and drinking milk and going to bed by nine pm with some curfew or something. She's a grown ass woman. Why y'all they're like, you know, oh my god, look she's with I mean, I wonder where they are at. I wonder what they're doing. Click, look at what the cameras at all of this other stuff. And y'all, how you doing? I can see travers right now. What's up? Bro Hye? Then you good? You look good? All right? If I said anything about Taylor Swift, it would be tell I said alone. That's about it. Why are y'all tripping? Some of y'all really really really need to get a life. It's it's it's like the thought of them screwing around Warrens is Warrnt's front page news. They're two consenting adults news flat, it's news. If they're not screwing around. You feel me? You feel me. Let's get to the tweets before we get on out of here. So let's go to my Let's go to tweets. My first tweet was this morning I saw my mayor Ryan Clark hosting, because you know, now with this new contract and stuff like that, he's not just a football pundit, but he gets to actually do some hosting. Obviously, he's the host of the popular Pivot podcast that he has with Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor and those boys doing a great, great job that they're doing. But he's also a host of Get Up on ESPN. When Greenee wasn't there, Ryan Clark was hosting this morning, and if you saw him, you saw the brother looking like Pink Panther for crime out Loud, silk pink shirt, pink suit, cetera, et cetera. Well, somebody else had on a pink suit the week. I didn't. I didn't, you know. I couldn't let that slide. So I tweeted Ryan Clark this morning to my man, Real Clark twenty five hosting Get Up. I see you, I see you, Pink Panther. However, I do recall some good looking brother myself rocking that joint before you. So, as I've repeatedly given you credit, are you going to give me my props this morning for the inspiration I clearly provided. That was what I said to Ryan Clark, And if you could see you see me. Well, First of all, my team messed up right here because you see, they got the wrong suit. I got a hot pink suit, but I also had a suit the color that Ryan Clark had on. So my producers, you know, in the're brilliance, always trying to be ahead of the curb, picked the wrong damn suit that I had on. I rolled up in the Boston I think it was Dallas actually with an exact pink colored suit that Ryan Clarke had on, but they missed that. That's my team, y'all. That's my team. Sometimes it's OK too. I'm gonna let it slide, say I forgive them. It happens to the best of us, all right, So that is what it is. I was just teasing my man, Ryan Clark. I know how good he looks. He's in better shape than me. I can tell you that much. By the way, I'm wishing it well. I know it was hosting is important to him, and I know he wants to do stuff like that more and more and more. So, Hey, it is what it is, all right, this guy Jake Bates Bulge Twitter handle at what is it? COO? Are you m I smy fave fav right, steven A? What's quorum is my fave? That's what it is, right, steven A. What's the worst to hoop on? Anytime you're shooting hoops without a net, that's the worst to hoop on because even though you make it, and it requires a bit more focused to make sure you make those shots, and it's good for vision and it helps improve your jump shot better than the ones with the nets, it's not quite the same feeling when you see the ball going through the net than when it's going through a hoop without a net. That's the answer to that question. Next up at Hero Dividend Wright Stephen A. Smith. Would you eat my aunt's mac and cheese respectfully? Hell? No, it looks nasty. I'm just being honest with you. I don't like the way this looks. I'm looking at it right now. That don't look like that doesn't look like the kind of macaroni and cheese that I would eat. It's not fluffy, it's not you know, yellowish, whatever the case may be. I've seen plenty of mac and cheeses that look better than that one, my brother, But that don't mean you tell her that. Got to find a nice, delicate way, because your aunt's a very loving woman and she looked out for you, and she's doing what she can to appease you and what have you. She tried the best. It just didn't work. So I will tell you that. Okay, outside of that, you know what, find a way to improve it, so next time she makes it, it's even better. Okay. Last tweet is from at JRB one one nine eight eight rights to Stephen A. Smith. Do you think Edmonton Oilers will complete the series, come back against Florida Panthers and win the Stanley Cup? Conno, McDavid, connomc jesus. I'm rooting for him because when you're somebody that great and the only thing missing from your resume is a Stanley Cup championship, You've got five scoring titles, you've got three league MVPs, you're a leading assists man, a leading scorer, You're considered the arguably one of the greater actually not arguably one of the greatest ever. I'm rooting for you, but in the same breath, I just got this feeling on their home turf for Game seven that Florida will find a way to win this. Whether it's at the end of regulation is over time. I think it's gonna be a thriller, and I think ultimately they will find a way to pull this off. Score like three to two. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. I gotta get ready to get on out of here, but before I do, I just wanted to let everybody know that this weekend was a very humbling weekend for me in a very good way. I was in Los Angeles, California yesterday, which is why I'm so stamn sleepy for crying a lout all of this travel. But I was in Los Angeles, California, downtown Los Angeles at the Millennium Builtmore Hotel because courtesy of the La Press Club, one of the most prestigious press clubs in the country, that Washington Post Press Club, that kind of thing. I was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Joseph Quinn Lifetime Achievement Award, for my career in journalism and the work that I've done throughout the years. So it was an incredible honor. It's not something that I take lightly, even though we live in a world where you see people all the time with their own podcast and you see people getting their own shows, and it's folks that have never been in journalism doing these things. To be a journalist for as long as I have been a journalist and to accomplish the things that I've accomplished, I never thought I'd be giving a Lifetime Achievement award, but here it is. So that happened, and I was very touched by it, to say the least. But there's still a message to be sent at all times, and I took that opportunity to do just that last night when I was given this speech. Take a look at just a snippet of it. Please, nobody wants to be hated. But you don't get into this business to be liked. You don't get into this business to curry favor. You don't get into this business to literally generate light in today's stratisfy. You get into this business to pursue truth, to edify and elevate our society. As a whole and make sure that when folks are uttering out of their nout fake news, fake news, fake news, you look at them and say, no, your ass is fake. That's what about. That was just part of my speech that I gave last night. Again, I was incredibly honored, grateful to the Los Angeles Press Club, Grateful that I had that opportunity to meet the wonderful and comparable actress herself, Jane Seymour, who was there receiving an award herself along with various others. I don't take that lightly. I'm very thankful, very grateful for being recognized in that fashion, for having my hard work throughout the years, the hard work that I continue to put forth being recognized. And I just can't express my gratitude enough. But there's always tomorrow, and there's always a job to do tomorrow. I understand what comes with the job that I do now, I always have, So I just want to say thank you again. But onward and upward, I don't stop. I keep going. I did that last night to get here today, and I'm gonna do it today to get where I need to go tonight for Game seven. Before I'm back on the here tomorrow and the next day, and the next day and the next day. It's about putting your head down, putting in that work and getting it done. Accolades come from the work, not from pursuing the alcohlades. I'm signing off until next time. Peace and love everybody. Enjoy your evening. I'll holler at you within the next forty eight hours. Piece of love.
