Waning Latino support could cost Dems dearly at the polls

View descriptionShare

Latino voting patterns are set to be crucial in this year's election.  In California, despite being a deep blue state, Latino voters are expected to play a key role in determining if Democrats can recover from their underperformance in the 2022 U.S. House races.

In his new book, Mike Madrid noted that the Biden administration's recent move on border security was necessary but overdue, and that Democrats have been losing Latino support due to an over-emphasis on immigration issues rather than economic concerns.

He pointed out that the fastest-growing segment of Latino voters are third-generation Americans who prioritize economic issues over ethnic identity.
