This is the State of California, and as of 12:01 a.m. today, thousands of video game performers are officially on strike—bringing part of the entertainment industry to a screeching halt after negotiations between the SAG-AFTRA union and major game studios broke down.
The major sticking point is Artificial Intelligence, with performers concerned about the lack of protection for their voices and likenesses as the emerging technology threatens their livelihoods.
