JD Vance picked as Trump's VP at RNC, Trump clinches Presidential nom

View descriptionShare

The Republican Party formally nominated Donald Trump for president today, for the third time.

And Mr. Trump chose his running mate, freshman Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio.

All of that happening in the last couple of hours here on the convention floor, where Donald Trump has NOT made an appearance yet, but Vance did, coming on the floor to shake delegates hands and smile and wave with his wife, he did not speak or formally accept his own nomination. The sergeant at arms of this convention, the party officer charged with keeping law and order on the floor, and he has not had to worry about that too much yet, is none other than Shawn Steel, longtime California Republican leader, and RNC committeeman for the state. He joined KCBS insider Doug Sovern, who reported today from the Republican Convention in Milwaukee, who was in turn joined in San Francisco by KCBS Radio anchors Bret Burkhart and Patti Reising.
