The race for Mayor of San Francisco is getting even more crowded, with a new hat in the ring today. That’s because former Mayor Mark Farrell announced that he is running against Mayor London Breed, seeking to win back the job he held for a few months after the death of Mayor Ed Lee.

Mark Farrell served as Mayor for five months back in 2018, after almost two full terms on the Board of Supervisors. He did not run to finish the rest of Lee’s term as Mayor in the special election that year, which was won by Breed, who then won a full term in 2019.

But now Farrell is going to run, which means there are four moderate Democrats in this year’s race for Mayor. For more, KCBS Radio's Bret Burkhart, Patti Reising, and Doug Sovern spoke with former Mayor Mark Farrell.

Black Lives Matter, the organization that was born in Oakland, has put
out a statement denouncing the Democratic Party for anointing Harris as Biden’s
replacement, calling it a “blatant” and “unacceptable” disregard for democratic
principles, and calling for a virtual snap primary instead to choose the new
Democratic Party nominee. BLM says while it was no big fan of President Biden,
the way he was bullied out of the race by elite donors and party bigwigs was
troubling and undemocratic.

BLM is displeased with the Democratic Party for "anointing" Kamala

Vice President Kamala Harris had her first campaign rally today as the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, in a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Today Harris locked up some more key endorsements, and the first poll taken since President Biden dropped out of the race shows Harris beating Donald Trump.

Yes, the Reuters/Ipsos poll, the first one taken entirely since Sunday, gives Harris a 2-point lead over Trump, and it’s a 4-point lead with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the survey too. She seems to be getting a bit of a bounce from all the positive publicity, the party falling in line behind her as the nominee, and of course a record haul of almost a quarter of a billion dollars in campaign donations just since Sunday. Harris now has locked up enough delegates, including the entire California delegation, to secure the nomination on the first ballot next month in Chicago, and she will technically be nominated by virtual roll call at the end of next month.
