Illegal immigration, the crisis at the border and what to do about it remains one of the most critical issues for voters this election year. A record-breaking number of both documented and undocumented migrants have been seeking entry into the U.S., many through the asylum process, as they flee violence, persecution or economic distress in their home countries.
Congress has been unable to pass any reform to the system, with former president Donald Trump convincing Republicans to scuttle a bipartisan deal that lawmakers negotiated with Pres. Biden.
