Here is what is making news for September 9, 2025.============================A violent street confrontation in Camperdown has been finalised in court.

The January 2024 incident involved seven people, some as young as 16, clashing on Bowen Street with bats, machetes, hammers and knives.========================================================Locals across Colac Otway and Corangamite regions who are looking to burn before the summer season arrives have been issued a reminder to register burns.

The Fire Permits Victoria website is a quick and easy way to notify emergency services of your upcoming burn-off.
========================================================The CDFNL finals and increased traffic on the region's roads will also bring about a larger police present with Operation Scoreboard taking to the roads.

Colac Police Sergeant Jamie Kahle says Colac Police will link up with surrounding stations to ensure our roads are kept safe over the next month.
========================================================Southern Rural Water is seeking expressions of interest from farmers in the Nullawarre region to participate in a pilot program known as Farmer Helping Farmer .

General Manager of Service Delivery Simon Wilkinson says it's an opportunity for farmers with existing private groundwater bores in Nullawarre  to support drought-recovery in the nearby Heytesbury region.

In the weekend's results - Division 1 lost 5-1 to Bell Park, Division 2 lost 3 - 1 to Armstrong United and Division 3 lost 6 to 2 against Lara.

Despite the challenge - senior coach Eddie Dorris says the year came with many positives.========================================================Entries are now open for the 20th anniversary of the Otway Odyssey, with cyclists urged to lock in their spot early.

The milestone event will be staged in Forrest across February 28 and March 1, bringing together mountain bikers and gravel riders from across Australia and beyond.

Organisers say the 2026 Odyssey will feature revamped courses, family events and celebrations marking two decades of racing through the Otways.
