========================================================================Corangamite Shire Council is seeking community feedback on domestic animal issues.

Mayor Kate Makin says dogs, cats and other pets are important to many households, but they need to be cared for. 
========================================================================The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority is farewelling four long-serving board members, including Chair Cath Jenkins.

Cath has led the CMA since 2021 and also chaired Vic Catchments, supporting Victoria’s ten CMAs. 
========================================================================The annual change in median house or unit rent prices has risen by 9.1 per cent in the Colac Otway region according to new data from Domain.

The date also states that over a five year period it has increased by 37.1 per cent.

In the Corangamite region the annual change saw a 3.8 per cent rise, and a 45.6 per cent climb over five years.
========================================================================Pre-lay mooring operations are underway for the Essington-1 offshore exploration well in the Otway Basin, operated by ConocoPhillips.

The Transocean Equinox drilling rig is set to arrive soon, with drilling expected to begin mid-October, weather permitting. 
========================================================================The region's water storage have been replenished following recent rainfall.

Colac's overall water storage levels sit at 99 per cent - at similar levels to this time last year.

Lorne's water storage's are full, and Apollo bay also sits at 99 per cent.

While Geelong's water storages sit at 42.8 per cent, rising 2.2 per cent in the last week, but still nearly 20 per cent lower than last year.
========================================================================Victoria has recorded its strongest year ever for tourism, with visitors spending $43.7 billion across the state in the 12 months to June.

International visitor spending jumped 20 per cent, helping Victoria claim almost a quarter of Australia’s total tourism spend.

Regional areas also benefited, with $1.8 billion spent by locals holidaying within the state in the June quarter.

The Colac Tigers total points sits at 40, after finishing third on the ladder in 2025.

The Tigers sit level for permitted player points as Newtown & Chilwell, Bell Park, South Barown and Leopold.

Only two sides sit lower with St Joseph's and St Mary's on 38.
========================================================================Lorne is gearing up to host the UCI Gran Fondo World Cycling Championships from October 16 to 19.

The event will bring the world’s best amateur road cyclists to the Surf Coast, competing on one of Australia’s most scenic routes.

Coinciding with Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo, it’s expected to attract thousands of riders and spectators, providing a major boost to local businesses and tourism across the region.

In the men’s competition, Colac Bowling Club’s Danny Donovan and Ernie Andres took out the title, with Brad Weetman and Leigh McIlvenny finishing runners-up.

On the women’s side, a composite team of Marcia Brandenburg and Jodie Bertrand from Winchelsea and Apollo Bay Bowls Clubs claimed victory, while Birregurra’s Lorraine Battye and Bron D’Acuntuo were runners-up.
